You know, when I look at the Pirates, and see good players like Adam LaRoche, I always think "He'll make a good Yankee, or Dodger, or Red Sox star." And it's happened again now. LaRoche has been traded to Boston for more rookies. If any of those guys are any good, they'll be traded for even more rookies, and any hopes at all of building a consistent, winning team are dashed. It's a vicious cycle that you Yankee fans, Red Sox fans, and Dodger fans out there will never understand. You wanna know why some of us want a Salary Cap in baseball, this is why. You can go on talking about the Rays and the Marlins and the Phillies all you want, but the fact of the matter is that none of those teams are the Pirates, the poorest franchise in the majors. You guys go on talking about all these cinderella teams going to the world series, but I still see this as a system of wealthy teams monopolizing all the talent, while smaller markets are forced to give up any talent they have to pay the bills. The Pirates just have the bad luck of not getting that one fluke season that all the other small market teams have gotten. Sometimes I just feel like screaming. "What about the Pirates, huh? When are THEY gonna get their shot?"

Throwback has run dry here too, having to make way for those new Game fuel sodas, which I don't care to try again after just one bottle. But, I think Throwback was popular enough for Pepsi to consider bringing back. I work at a grocery store, and a lot of people were buying it. I like Coke too, so I hope they try their own version, one of these days.

I just got back, and I had a lot of fun over there. Unfortunately, I lost my 3 day Flex pass after the second day, but I stayed an extra day near the town, and found other stuff to do, like visit the Milton Hershey museum, and watch a movie at the Harrisburg Stadium Theater. I'll have a photo TR up in the near future.

Coming to you live from Hershey!
Movieguy posted a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I thought I'd give this a shot, since th Super 8 here has free wireless, and I'm learning to type better on my Ipod touch. I am now starting day two of my vacation, after experiencing Hershey Park for the first time ever yesterday. To put it simply, I love the place. The very first thing I did was go into chocolate world, and ride the great American chocolate tour, which was a lot of fun. I especially liked the part with the chocolate scent pumped in. Afterward, I went straight to Farenheit. They were running all three trains, so I only had to wait for an hour. It was an awesome coaster, which had some surprising amounts of airtime. Storm Runner was an even shorter wait, and it took my breath away. The ride was great, but my neck got thrown into the OTSR a couple of times, and it's a little stiff now. Wildcat was a great little woodie, that's really helped out with those great millenium flyer trains, if I'm thinking of the right name. Lightning Racer, on the other hand, was a little rougher than I was expecting. But not painful After lunch, I took another spin on Farenheit and Storm Runner, before heading to the superdooperlooper, which was pleasant, being the first time I've gone through a loop with only a lapbar. A unique thrill. I finally tool a ride on the great bear, which has to be the smoothest invert I've ever ridden, before deciding to ride comet tomorrow and heading to the motel. So that's what i've been up to so far. -
Well, I just called the Super 8 again, and asked to extend my stay through the morning of the 16th. I decided that since was gonna be my only vacation of the year, I may as well give myself more time to enjoy it. Especially considering how big Hershey Park is compared to the last couple of parks I've visited.

Actually, The Pirates have always been a young team, and that's their problem. It seems that if you have talent on that team, they trade you for three guys who don't, because they can't afford to keep you. Just look at who they've let go before...Brian Giles, Tony Womack, Francisco Cordova, Jason Kendall. Until the Bucs get an owner who's willing to spend the money to keep talent around, I forsee them in the NL basement for at least the rest of my natural life.

I think it's a great idea to temporarily bring this film back. EO was also my first 3-D movie, and I absolutely loved it back in the day. I remember it so much more fondly than HISTA If you head over to Mousebits.com, one of the users there took a video copy he had of this film, and made a red/blue 3-D version of it that worked with a pair of glasses I had for another DVD. It's obviously not as good as the polarized version, but it still gives you an idea of what it was like in that theater.

What is your favorite pizza chain and one of a kind place?

Chain: Pizza Hut Local: Napoli Pizzeria -
^Oh yes...no one should have to ride a boomerang more than once.

I have a tendency towards fanboy-ism, I'll admit. I just have fond memories of CP, is all. Though, I have eased up on that in recent years, as I've gotten out and experienced other parks.

To be fair, we all kind of saw Farrah's death coming. We knew she'd been battling cancer all this time. I think MJ is getting a bit more press now, simply because his death was so sudden. When someone just suddenly dies, it makes a big impact. My dad died very suddenly, when he was only 53, so I know that impact all too well. That doesn't make Farrah's death any less significant to me, though. They were both unique personalities who left us too soon.

I'm also happy to hear that the Sixers are going back to red, white, and blue. I liked the old look, and even the more colorful variant they used in the early 90's. The black on red look just didn't appeal to me much, especially after AI left town.

Farrah was a wonderful woman, a capable actress, and appealing personality, who simply got unfairly saddled with a lot of rubbish in her personal life. It's so sad to see her fight the good fight against cancer, only to ultimately lose. RIP Farrah. I WON'T forget about you.

Get used to it...I forsee CN becoming yet another Reality Show channel, just like MTV is now. It's sad, but that's the way TV is going now...all reality shows, or gritty "Real World" dramas.

I grew up in the 80's too. My god, everything he touched turned to gold back in those days. That was a time when you could actually believe in your heroes.

OT: Someday, you'll have to change that to "The Cartoon Network plays a cartoon!" judging from what they're doing now.

I'm not sure I can trust TMZ. I'm watching MSNBC now, and waiting for what they'll say.

I saw the new Transformers just a few hours ago. I thought it was great for an obvious summer blockbuster. I could have done without the twins, but that's a minor quibble for me, cause their role wasn't all that big. However, I see this as the end of the line for this movie series. Revenge of the Fallen has an *ouch!* 22% rating at Rottentomatoes, and all kinds of hate are being leveled on it at imdb. Plus, I'm already hearing the "too long" complaints from the ADD generation, as I like to call them. So, that, combined with the bad ratings, is going to hurt this movie past the first weekend. Remember, we're in an age where if a movie doesn't make 200 million dollars in the first two weekends, it's considered a failure.

White Castle FTW! (We don't have one here, but they do sell the burgers in my store's freezer.) Diamondback looks like a well designed hyper. It'll definitely take the sting off of SOB being closed this season. Glad to hear about the original Beast still doing well. I guess in terms of father/son comparisons, you could say The Beast is Richard Petty, and SOB is Kyle Petty.

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to ask one more thing, though I'm not sure if this is the appropriate section for it. I asked before, and thought I'd take one last shot before I go. Is anyone from here going to be at the park on July 13 or 14? If so, I'd love the chance to meet anyone from this fourm, which I've been a member of for years now.

Future looks bleak for Terra MÃtica
Movieguy replied to Airtime&Gravity's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh man. I've seen videos from that place, and I always wanted to check it out at some point. Such a shame, a well maintained park having to close down. It's Spain's "Freedomland" now, I suppose.
