I received a similar survey for SFoG but the 'other' establishment options were different. There was Taco Bell, 'local family park' and others. On another topic, I posted a couple weeks ago about not being able to access the pass holder / member portal through my phone and my desktop PC. After attempting unsuccessfully to get help on this at my home park as well as national tech support, I attempted to login on my laptop and I got through. Strange though that I have to get out my laptop to reserve Diamond parking but at least it works.

Visited this past Sunday - it was a great day for rides as the park was fairly empty. With no seasonal events or shows to distract us, we concentrated on rides and using our dining pass. Interestingly, the park is wasting no time removing all Fright Fest props and decorations and swapping them out for Holiday in the Park. Last year on this same weekend, the park looked like "The Nightmare Before Christmas" but this year the park seems way ahead of the curve as HitP begins in less than 2 weeks. There has been some confusion as to what sections of the park will be closed off for 'Holiday' and furthermore whether Metropolis Park near the back, including Justice League and Superman would be operating. This map confirms that only Lickskillet, including Blue Hawk and Scream Machine will be closed off but nothing else. The website is incredibly inaccurate as pointed out in earlier posts. Another oddity: the Lickskillet area is open this weekend and next before it closes for the season as HitP begins. The park map signs in these areas have been updated with this same HitP map (pictured below) with the Lickskillet area omitted. There were a few confused guests staring at the map, trying to navigate this area with no mention of the area in which they were standing! Anyway, the zombies have returned underground as Santa's elves have taken over. I can't wait for the fun to begin on November 17th - my birthday too! The official 2018 SFoG Holiday in the Park map!

Metropolis Park should be open - it was operating during last year's HitP and furthermore, they have already installed the bases for the multicolor crystal holiday decorations in front of Justice League. Blue and white Christmas lights are also now installed on some of the buildings in that area. Scream machine, Blue Hawk, and all of Lickskillet will be closed. In fact, as soon as Fright Fest is over they will likely begin site work on Pandemonium and the new Screampunk District where Camp Slasher is currently located.

We went for a visit Sunday as well. The Diamond Elite haunt wristband plus the $10 upgrade to express option saved the day as the place was really full. It was also nice to experience more autumn-like weather. (I understand there will be a real chill in the air next weekend...) Dr. Fright's Dead Man's party was short a couple of performers but in spite of that, the show is still really good and has been a fan favorite for decades. The food and beverage lines were, as expected, obscene. I have noticed though that the Johnny Rockets location does a pretty good job of moving the line. We waited maybe 10-15 min for our meal. The extended Dining Pass hours really help. The theming and atmosphere at JD's Sports is outstanding! They really did a good job with the décor. If the food line there is horrendous, we simply get our meals from another location and enjoy! Alien abduction is my pick for best haunt. The effects are well done and there are good scares in there. I would not recommend this one for young kids or the timid! We will be back again this Friday the 19th and Sunday the 21st. Fright Fest has been lots of fun this year (so far)!

Went and saw the movie "Hell Fest" Tuesday. I know there was much speculation as to whether that movie was filmed at SFoG - or any SF park for that matter but it became clear this was filmed at SF White Water! I recognized many buildings and areas clear as day, most notably the entrance to the rapids slide. The water wheel is also seen clearly during several scenes. That means the production took place during the off season sometime in the winter of 2017/2018. Very interesting both GA Six Flags parks have now been heavily featured in films. SFoG in "Vacation" and now White Water in "Hell Fest!"

Generally speaking, I would say Witch's Hollow and Casa De Muerte 3D are less 'graphic' and more entertaining and thus better for younger guests. ZX-1, Alien Abduction and Camp Slasher may be too intense / graphic. Evil Passage is not very scary but it is so short I would not waste your freebie on it. Much depends on the child too. Some kids are perfectly OK with graphic gore and terror. I remember while growing up, this park had an attraction known as "The Horror Cave", which was a permanent year round haunt located in today's Joker's Funhouse structure. This attraction gave nightmares to kids all over Atlanta back in the 1970's!! I hope you have a great visit with your 11 year old!

Yes - I failed to mention the "Ghosts of Six Flags" - I did not experience it yet this year but I have a hunch it is the same as 2017. It is a free experience featuring a narrative of ghost stories in and around the park! Considering the regular season narrative on the train was the same as last year, this one probably will be as well.

Even though temperatures are still summerlike, the park has completely transformed for Fright Fest! I was able to get a few hours in on Saturday eve and most of the day Sunday. Although the exterior of the park gate looks identical to years' past, the changes begin as soon as you pass the entrance. The Prominade entrance area was very creatively set up with the 'red carpet treatment', paying homage to classic b/w horror flicks. This was a refreshing change from the setup of recent years. Other familiar scare zones were back, but in new locations, which gave them a fresh look and vibe. The Tunnel of Love (Blood) is now located in front of the Splashwater Falls entrance, which is a much better spot than prior years' location in the USA section. Many additional new props have appeared as well. Haunts: Casa De Muerte (Fearman's Manor) - worthy, entertaining 3D haunt experience, unchanged from last year. Evil Passage (Piedmont Arcade building across from Thunder River observation deck) - new haunt - very, very short but some good props and actors inside. This is a great first haunt for the timid. ZX-1 (Gotham City Axis Arena) - Concept is identical to last year but the layout is significantly changed up. This is perhaps one of the most entertaining mazes. Not for the faint of heart. Witch's Hollow (Thunder River queue) - virtually the same as last year. No real scares but lots of eye candy. Camp Slasher (former Thomas Town/Whistlestop location) - the name is a carryover from last year but the location in the park and nearly all of the experience is new. This is a huge improvement over the 2017 iteration of this haunt, when it was located outside the Rabun Gap train station. The entrance is very odd though, featuring a school bus playing upbeat dance music (??) Alien Abduction - brand new haunt (and building), this maze occupies the #project whatever warehouse style structure that was built near the Goliath entrance. This was a very decent haunt featuring many elaborate sets and props. Dr. Fright's Dead Man's Party - same show but it holds up well as a crowd pleaser year after year. This year's edition was cast well and did not disappoint. This year they have added a Diamond reserved seating area consisting of two rows near the middle of the theater. There is also a new stage show near the Dare Devil Dive. I did not get a good look at it but I did notice the stage is completely different from last year. The park was fairly crowded Saturday but strangely enough, the haunted attractions had little or no lines. Casa de Muerte (Fearman's Manor) had the longest wait at about 10 minutes but the other haunts were walk-ins. Overall, I am impressed with Fright Fest 2018. The staff were for the most part friendly and helpful and the food lines were not too horrible. I have not been able to say this in a while but it really looks like the park has given a great deal of extra effort. "NOW SHOWING...FRIGHT FEST 2018" The new Goliath queue area building with an all new haunt inside! Fuller Labs? So THIS is what they have been secretly building near Goliath...

I get the feeling that, if/when the park rethemes it to Superman, the general reaction will be, "Wait... since when has it NOT been Superman?" I have a feeling this is going to be the case, because everyone still calls it Superman. But this is an interesting point. I think this will be the case with the other themeing as well if they use the same franchises they did back when it was previously six flags, people will just say oh that isn't new... Its possible for someone who hasn't visited since the last six flags ownership to not notice if everything was re-themed as before. I wonder if they have the old props in storage and will just put them back on the rides? Honestly, most regular guests would be just fine with the return of 'Superman' to the ride name and the second train back in operation, but SF corporate will have a tough time hyping things up. Re-theming the ride looks much more spectacular on brochures and in the gift shops. And (unfortunately for us) it gives the park a "big new attraction!" OK...I am taking off the corporate thinking cap now. Just fix the 2nd train now please and were good....

I get the feeling that, if/when the park rethemes it to Superman, the general reaction will be, "Wait... since when has it NOT been Superman?" You're right - reverting back to Superman would be such a non-announcement. I would not be surprised to see the park take it in another direction like giving it a Bizarro overlay, similar to what SFNE did a few years back. That would at least make the ride experience seem fresh and new - and while they are at it, bring back train #2...

Justice League will definitely be open throughout HitP. In fact, when they opened this ride in 2017, the park management were very quick to point out JL would be open through the holidays. A little Holiday in the Park history at this park: 2014 - (first year) Lickskillet, Cotton States, and Gotham City sections closed. Capacity concerns led the management to opening Crime Wave in the Gotham City section (but nothing else) as well as the Dodge City Bumper Cars in the Cotton States area (accessible via Carousel Hill). 2015 - Gotham City added to park operations. Lickskillet and Cotton States remain closed. Park announced they would again open Dodge City Bumper Cars. 2016 - Superman: Ultimate Flight added to roster of operating coasters, this open area is accessible via Carousel Hill. Oddly enough, this area lacked holiday theming. Bumper Cars were walled off as they were being removed to make way for JL:BFM. 2017 - the (new) Metropolis section, including JL:BFM is officially added, complete with Christmas theming. Scream Machine remains closed along with the rest of Lickskillet in which it is now officially located. Also of note, Georgia Cyclone is closed as it is undergoing an RMC transformation. Maybe they will add the final (Lickskillet) area this year. I still think this section would look really nice decked out for the holidays. If not this year, maybe 2019 after Pandemonium and the new Screampunk areas are added...

I have also noticed some inconsistency with how membership benefits work at different parks. So far in 2018 we have visited SFoT, SFFT, SFA, SFGadv, and SFoG (our home park). At SFA they gave us the cards for skip-the-line while the other parks gave receipts. Just like your experience at Great Escape, the SFA passes were not ride-specific and required the use of the exit (versus the Flash Pass entrance), making them more like ADA exit passes. And I am not too concerned about negative marks resulting from failure to cancel / not use a reservation for parking, etc. Their system is not this advanced (but may be someday), and furthermore, not all parks actually scan the parking pass. On a couple occasions, the attendant just checked the date on our parking pass and then let us into the reserved area so there was no internal record of whether or not we utilized the reservation. While there is certainly room for improvement to the membership program, I do believe it is a tremendous value.

I think most important would be that you must activate the pass at the host park that you purchased it from. So dont just show up at SFMM prior to activation at SFDK. Seems there must be some options on Diamond Elite that aren't available at SFMM as there is a price chop for SFDK vs SFMM at about $15 per year/membership/pass Membership benefits are national. Once the membership is processed, no matter the home park, the benefits will be valid everywhere. I have a Diamond Elite membership here in Georgia and on my member portal it is showing I have a one-time free swim with dolphins benefit for SFDK. I am also seeing benefits that are specific to other parks besides my home park too. We have already used our DE memberships at 4 other SF parks as well. Once you master the procedure for preferred parking, reserved seating, etc, the benefits are great. In spite of early glitches with the membership process, overall we have been very happy with the value we are getting. The only caveat I could find regarding membership benefits at other parks were some limitations on Mexico / Canada parks.
-
Yes! Once you fully process your membership, the perks are valid at all U.S. parks (some limitations on Mexico and Canada parks). We bought Diamond Elite this past spring and enjoyed the benefits at four different parks. Of all the perks, the preferred parking has been the biggest one for us. For the dining pass, If you buy a membership, you would likely add on membership dining, which like the membership itself, does not expire but continually renews until you terminate the membership. As for early entry and other perks, there are many such bonuses. Once you process your membership, you'll be able to view a comprehensive list on the member portal. Until then, the park website should have a list. Of note, DE memberships will receive full access to all Fright Fest haunts included, and this means all SF parks! If you visit SF often, it only makes sense to buy the best membership level you can. We have gotten our money's worth, although admittedly there were a few early glitches and a learning curve with using some of the benefits like the parking and reserved waterpark seating. I hope you enjoy your membership!

I have to admit that I am thrilled I no longer have to drive to Texas for a Giant Discovery. These are great rides and I do not mind one bit SF cloning these at every park someday. Having said that, I am even more thrilled that our park will be getting a "ScreamPunk District" themed area. This is by far one of the coolest themes any SF park has used and to date has only appeared at Magic Mountain. While the centerpiece of the SFMM version is Twisted Colossus (and to a lesser extent SCREAM!), I can see this area being home to additional rides and/or a coaster in the future. I was not expecting a huge addition after having just received a coaster, but this far exceeded my expectation ScreamPunk District at SF Magic Mountain, June 2017

Hey Fatties! LISTEN UP!!!
Lotologist492 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For a real theme park workout, try visiting a water park on a slow day. Carrying tubes up the steps over and over again and riding again and again with no wait is a real cardio workout! -
When SFoG transformed Ninja to Blue Hawk in 2016, it was not the 'new for 2016' attraction, but rather a bonus extra project in addition to what was added for that year. Hence Blue Hawk was NOT considered a 'new' coaster since the track did not change. Similarly, converting Apocalypse to floorless will not make that coaster 'new' but it will change up the ride experience a bit. So I guess it will be a wait-and-see if SFA is really bringing in a 'new' thrill like they have been teasing.

They won't do it this year, but it's not at all out of the realm of possibity in the future. They did HITP at SFNE last year and are starting it at GAm this year. HitP is coming to all SF parks eventually. Even though DL does not (yet) offer the memberships, they will very soon. And with memberships comes the push for more operating days. Memberships are much easier to sell when you don't have a 5-month long off season. To that end, I can further visualize some of the southern Six Flags parks like TX and GA going to year-round weekend operations. My guess is that Fiesta would be the first to try that but a case could be made for Georgia too, with a Super Bowl coming and bringing millions of tourists in over a two week period. Yeah, its winter we're talking about, but there are good weather weekends in between the bad ones.

Changing the name of SRoS at SFNE was a planned temporary name change as the story goes, Superman and Bizarro were dueling it out there as well as SFGadv where Medusa was themed as Bizarro; and signage in both parks referenced a storyline and both rides were mentioned. When SFNE changed theirs back to Superman, it was no longer 'Ride of Steel', but simply 'The Ride'. The floorless B&M at SFGadv remains 'Bizarro'. Good idea or not, I can see a case for a re-theming of some sort to freshen up the ride and give it the attention it has been waiting for. Maybe 'Superman The Escape', or something to that effect would work too. Simply put, I seriously doubt SF will pass on an opportunity to give new life and attention to one of the park's signature coasters.

Six Flags Corporation fully 'owns' only one park in the chain - St Louis. Every other park is owned by partnerships, LLC's, investors, and other companies. SF purchased the lease of DL as well as the naming rights, giving SF the ability to modify and market all properties under their control as the deem fit. While I have my doubts SF will be 'flagging' Frontier City, they will most certainly be re-branding DL back to a Six Flags park. As for Ride of Steel, I would not be surprised to see SF give this one a Bizarro makeover (or some other twist), rather than simply slapping 'Superman' on the building again. And hopefully this means a full makeover including restoration of a 2-train ops.
