SFoG can get insanely crowded during Fright Fest. Saturdays are (of course) the worst. Friday and Sunday not quite as bad. Nice thing about Friday and Saturday is they stay open 'til midnight. A couple things to keep in mind - the later you get into October, the more ramped up the crowds get, as you get closer to Halloween. Having said that, I did notice the park added October 29-30-31 to the calendar, so going on Monday the 29th or Tuesday the 30th might have less of a crowd due to being weeknights, plus the fact not everyone will be aware the park is open! As for the clientele, I have not been privy to any issues or rowdiness, etc. Yes, the place can get crazy busy but I have not seen unruly crowd behavior. Not saying it has not or cannot happen, but being my 'home' park I am not aware of anything like that. The haunts range from OK to pretty good, perhaps getting gradually better year by year. IMHO none of them are really scary but the park does give good attention to detail on some of the haunts. Lines can get very long so if you can splurge on a VIP haunt wristband, go for it as you can bypass the sometimes horrendous waits. Also you don't want to miss the Dr. Frights Dead Mans' Party show. It is extremely popular - and has been rockin' since 1994! I did post a TR without photos for FF last October - more of a review of Fright Fest itself. Since many haunted attractions are recycled and/or somewhat modified each year, that report will at least be partially relevant to this year. Best of luck- hope this helps!

On my 7/15 visit, all water rides were functioning and I got rides in on Renegade and BR. I hate to say I will probably never ride 'Blizzard' again (unless they majorly rehab this ride). The boats looked terrible and did not drain meaning riders had to submerge their feet/shoes into really nasty water. Disgusting! At least I got my 'ride credit!' Renegade was a lot of fun; surprisingly it was only a station wait. The railroad was far above average - I love the way it goes deep into the woods. This reminds me of just how HUGE this park is with all the undeveloped land. The water park was well above expectation. Glad I finally got to spend some real time here - I really enjoyed this area. Wahoo River was indeed nice, but the lazy river at my home water park, White Water Atlanta is still leaps ahead. Shade makes a world of difference. But still "Wahoo" looked really nice as did most of the HH area. I have said it before but this park is very underrated. There is a very decent coaster collection here and the park is for the most part clean and service I have received has generally been above average. The lone sore spot on my visit was the dreadful food service at dinner and the 40 minute wait in the 'food court'. The food was good though; Chop Six was a pleasant surprise. Oddly enough, Johnny Rockets at this park does not honor the dining plans like they do at other SF parks. Sorry no photos - I stowed away my phone in the car. I will be back next summer, if not again later this year.

Batman The Ride has music from the Dark Knight movies playing in the station and queue but I liked the old Danny Elfman music better (they played the old music back in the day when I worked at the park). The Twisted Cyclone area plays old classics that fit the theme of the area but that's about it. The Metropolis Park area (home of Superman and Justice League BFM) also plays Superman themed music including the original score. The Goliath queue used to play old science fiction TV theme music when it first opened in 2006. This was keeping in line with the retro USA theming in the area. Typically, new rides have a special theme to their queue music but after a few seasons, they play standard park music, if any at all. Hurricane Harbor played beachy summer music their first couple of seasons. Now it is simply hot AC/rhythmic tunes. I suspect the same thing will happen around Twisted Cyclone in a season or two.

They're basically just impostor log flumes that get you wet like a rapids ride. Basically the worst kind of dry park water ride imaginable unless they have noteworthy theming or a double down or something I would have been OK with an Aquaman re-theming much like SFoT did years ago. They re-themed their "Splash Down Simulator" to "Aquaman" and the result was quite striking. The ride water is very clean, crystal clear too. The caveat though is the ride is across from their Justice League: BFM, which does not allow any wet riders on. But...barring such a transformation at SFoG, I would not mind seeing this ride go away to make way for (hopefully) a Giant Discovery. Another observation I failed to mention in my earlier report: I noticed piping being installed from the hill where the Splashwater Falls pump area is located down the hill to near the body of water at the wheelhouse. Could this mean they are draining and capping off the water supply to this ride?

Great TR for Wahoo River! I will be visiting in a couple weeks and lazy rivers are among my favorite water rides. I will have to see how it rates against the lazy river at my home water park - White Water (Atlanta). As for rules re: re-rides / trips around the river, I have never seen anything enforced; once you are in, you can stay in and go around as long as you like. The sign at White Water mentions being allowed to utilize the free tubes for one lap (at which time you give it to another rider) but again, this has never been enforced. That is the really cool thing about wave pools and lazy rivers - instant refreshment - no waiting in line! I look forward to visiting this IMO underrated park. I generally get in one visit per year but this time I hope to follow up with a visit to SFGadv the next day.

I had a very similar experience at SFoG upgrading from a gold SP to Diamond Elite. However, I called the member services number and explained my situation from start to finish. The lady was very helpful and pleasant. After all was said and done, I was credited the full purchase price of my 2018 season pass in the form of Six Flags Bucks (in-park currency that you can use anywhere in your home park) and my 2018 dining pass was moved over to my membership. Honestly, I like the new membership options but the company rolled it out too fast creating all sorts of problems which even park staff don't know how to fix yet. Maybe by the time the 2019 season rolls around the membership buying process will advance past the 'beta' phase. Having said that, we have been very happy with our Diamond Elite memberships.

A few tidbits from today's visit: The small construction area near Goliath is still a mud pit. Although there could be enough room there for a small flat ride, I have to wonder if they are planning a Diamond VIP lounge there, similar to the one I saw at Fiesta. -OR- another dining option would be welcome too. The temporary ride entrance goes right through what used to be a small snack stand. The fluffy bunnies have been relocated there as well. There is a summer show in the Crystal Pistol! Titled "Rhythm & Grooves", we did not even know about this show until late in the day so we will definitely check it out next visit. Could Splashwater Falls be on the way out? This ride has been SBNO for months now. On this visit we observed the water cannon stations on the bridge have been removed. The ride just looks dirty and very un-maintained. If this theory is correct, perhaps this would be a good spot for a Giant Discovery (pendulum), and it could be DC themed too since it is between the DC Super Friends area and Metropolis. There is more than enough room there. Twisted Cyclone has received more theming pieces. There are three new small signs on the lift hill and several boat 'wrecks' have been added to the area. I still cannot get over how amazing this ride is. The TEXAS Locomotive was in service today. From the looks of things, this was the engine that caught fire awhile back. There were charred areas on the smoke stack plus a small tarp covering something on it, but the engine was in service. It is nice to see the park investing in all these small projects and sprucing things up a bit.

Wild Adventures Discussion Thread

Although I have not been to this park in about 8 years, I really did like it. It is very family friendly, clean, and there is lots of attention to detail. The animal attractions and water park alone are worth the visit. Ride lines were never very long so you should be able to ride everything. I also remember they did an excellent job with Phobia (their Halloween event) and their Christmas season. Now - I have no idea what has changed since the current ownership took over but from the sound of things there has not been much added. I visited this park as a nice alternative to SFoG and even bought season passes (passports) for several years. Even though no major new rides have lured be back, I really do want to check this place out again. Like I said my memories are positive. -
We upgraded to Diamond Elite from a gold season pass in May. Since we already had 2018 Premium dining passes loaded to our old SP, they simply moved it over to our new memberships upon cancellation of our old passes. We were refunded the full purchase price of our old gold passes in the form of park currency. Not a bad deal! One caveat I did discover with the premium dining: as it is not a 'membership' dining plan, but a 2018 dining pass, it does not work at 'foreign' water parks. Although our DE memberships worked just fine for admission when we visited Hurricane Harbor in Arlington, our dining pass did not work there since it was purchased in Georgia, which was the previous situation with season passes. Our dining passes worked at SFoT and SFFT with no issues. All is well that ends well though as a supervisor at that Hurricane Harbor went ahead and gave me my meal anyway.

We just returned from a long (and very HOT) trip to the Lone Star State and this was our second time visiting SFFT. We were here two years ago and on this visit we got in two full days. I was reminded quickly why this is perhaps my favorite park in the chain. We were determined to ride everything in these two days, including stuff we missed two years ago. The aforementioned Road Runner was not operating but fortunately we rode it 2 years ago. The railroad was also not operating. The park was not really all that busy, even for a SAT-SUN. Most guests were crammed into the (awesome) water park, escaping the triple digit heat. We got in a 2 day total of 5 rides on Iron Rattler, which I might add is my favorite coaster inside or outside a SF park. (It even beats the new Twisted Cyclone at my home GA park, but it is close....) We got in two rides on Wonder Woman and much to our surprise, we were allowed to utilize our Diamond Elite skip passes there for one of those rides. This ride is intense as advertised and will surprise the first time rider. Once they address capacity issues, I can see this ride cloning at other SF parks in the near future. But for now, it was unique and we had a blast on it. Although we have been on Pandemonium at SFoT more times than we can count, this copy of it was so much better. Ditto for the Sky Screamer...the nearby quarry wall makes for an entirely different experience than on other versions. Hurricane: Force 5 was a blast and we just had to ride The Hustler. This is definitely a hidden gem of a flat ride. Over on the waterpark side of things, we got to try out Thunder Rapids. Long wait but worth experiencing for the first time. Food service was outstanding. We never waited more than 5 minutes to get our meals. Food quality was good too. The park could use a few more Freestyle machines but we did find a 'hidden' one in the coffee shop! There was never a line for it and all flavors were available. The folks that run this park take pride in it and it definitely shows. Everything was very clean. The fireworks show at the end of the day was an amazing surprise. Although we were a bit bummed sections of the park had to close for it, we were blown away by the quality of this show! We stuck around on day 2 of our visit for another round! We will be back...either next year or the following year. We really love it here! I never get tired of this view or this ride! Welcome triple-digit heat relief! The quarry wall makes this park the most scenic of any SF park! Yeah, there was this. Definitely worth riding and very different The water park here is amazing. Cool, clean, refreshing! My favorite section of the park! This has got to be the most unique flat ride. We had to go for a 'spin'... What a fantastic way to end the day...y'all come back now!

In a similar situation, we were at SFGadv a few years back and the indoor rides closed during a passing storm. We were told that in a thunderstorm situation, all rides, including indoor ones close due to the (remote) possibility of a power surge / power failure during a ride cycle due to a lightning strike. Not sure if that is the reason here but possible. As for no 'wet riders'. SFoT has had that policy since day 1. I am not sure if it is enforced here in GA or other JL clones. Another difference between Texas and GA: there are no food or beverages allowed inside the JL building in Texas; souvenir cups as well as all other belongings stay with the rider. They will ask you to pour out your drink before entering. At least here in GA they provide cup holders! Southern hospitality I suppose

Another visit to the park today...just had to ride TC again! The park was surprisingly not so crowded today although the threat of bad weather may have played a factor. Lines for the new TC were about 20-30 min, which was surprisingly short. Another curious observation made near the Goliath - the (never used and not covered) fourth queue area was removed and fenced off for some small project. Could a small flat ride be coming to that area? Splashwater Falls was still inoperative. I still say the park could refurbish and re-theme that ride to Aquaman and connect the DC theme from the DC Friends area to Metropolis. It is nice to see the park making continual improvements. Re-painting Scorcher would be huge too.

Weather was cooperating this afternoon so I was able to visit the park for a few hours. Twisted Cyclone was having a preview event for Season pass holders, members, and anyone else willing to buy a $15 t-shirt. Thunderstorms earlier in the day plus the fact some area school systems were still in session resulted in a very empty park. The only line in the park was the aforementioned preview line for TC, which was only about 10 minutes long. Basically, this was THE opportunity to ride this thing before it opens to the public tomorrow. I rode it three times: twice near the front, once near the back. There was no preferred seating; an attendant was assigning seats. The queue house was completely refurbished with some theming on the walls featuring reproduction newspaper headlines of hurricanes past. There was even some cross-promotion for Hurricane Harbor. There was also a new area with personal storage, a.k.a. 'fluffy bunnies' available as this ride now joins the ranks of Goliath, Scorcher, and others that do not allow personal items on the dock. Anyway - as far as the ride goes... wow ... just W@W. What this ride lacks in length is more than made up for in intensity and lots of ejector air time. The ride starts off with a surprise drop and some trick track action. We were already having a blast and we had not yet even reached the lift hill. The first drop with the head chopper and the first inversion took many by surprise. All the elements were well paced and after the final inversion and turn, the train rockets into the brake run. I believe this ride got faster at the very end. There are no bad seats; the ejector air time is everywhere. Additionally, there is nothing really to hold onto. If your hands are not in the air, they are against your body. This out-of-control feel just added to the thrill. All in all, this is EXACTLY what the park needed. Some others have said it here first: SLEEPER HIT. Well it is that and more. There are going to be many thoroughly surprised naysayers. I also spent an hour or so in the newly opened-for-the-season Hurricane Harbor. Oh, the irony. Not a bad way to spend three hours after work. Cheers.....

https://www.wsbradio.com/news/national/fire-six-flags-over-georgia-ride-sends-two-employees-hospital/ngzsNoDJmPzWJ3TLhakBHL/ Here's another link from our local news. You can hear loud pops and see lots of smoke. Park employees exhibited a sense of humor as well toward the end of the video. No laughing matter though as two employees and one guest received treatment. Last week a Disney float caught fire. Who is next?

Made a park visit today - interesting day to say the least! First of all, the park's railroad train caught fire, forcing the closure of the Metropolis area of the park. I did not see any of this going on other than everyone being turned away from entering that area of the park. I did catch a whiff of burning something or another. Second - park was very crowded with over 100 bus loads of band members from schools across the region. Third- Twisted Cyclone was testing - a lot. We watched several test trains cycle through the ride. The anticipation is mounting! Lastly, we 'took the plunge' and bought our Diamond Elite passes. You can buy memberships at the member services office inside the park. The staff there moved our existing dining plans over to our new membership. I did notice some of the benefits like preferred parking and preferred water park seating require a reservation the day before you visit, which could be a hassle. You cannot just show up and expect preferred parking or water park seating. You will have to enter a pass ID for ALL members in your party to utilize it. We will see how this goes but all in all I am glad we upgraded. Tomorrow is Bring a Friend free day so I expect crowds! Cheers.....

Six Flags purchased White Water Atlanta in 1999, one year after an e.Coli death in a kiddie pool area. They kept the White Water name making it the only separate gate water park in the chain not branded Hurricane Harbor. (SFoG would add a small Hurricane Harbor park to the theme park across town in 2014.)

You think it will only open that weekend for membership holders? Not for pass holders? I'm going on the 19th so that would be cool if it was! Being a SP holder myself, I would welcome a preview weekend much like Justice League last year. But with the push for memberships now, and reading the materials regarding the membership levels, one clear stated benefit of membership was early access to new rides. It looks to be a wait and see whether SP holders will be included but it seems likely there will be a preview or soft opening of some sort.

I still cannot get enough of this view! The colors are fantastic! And with this past Sunday being on the wet side, the park was a ghost town, making un-cluttered shots possible. Curiously, there is a tropical storm flag atop the loading area building. I would think they would want a 'hurricane' (two stacked identical flags) to promote the (what is sure to be) ride's intensity. But - by definition, a 'cyclone' can refer to a tropical storm, a hurricane, or even a typhoon. TC is scheduled to open to the public Memorial Day weekend. I have to believe the ride will open the weekend of May 19-20th as a preview to membership holders as one of the perks. If that is true, Media Day will be a few days prior to that. Oh, the anticipation!! This will be a BUSY PLACE in a month! JUST a tropical storm? If you want a hurricane, its at the back of the park! Justice League was a ghost town. It was a great day to find more secret targets! And since we were on the subject of Axis Arena - it is still very much used. This guide sign was near Bugs Bunny Boomtown.

I kinda wish they gave Deja Vu a second chance considering the GIB (Goliath) at New England works like a charm. It's location was special since when you walked down to Lickskillet you see this green/blue coaster with two massive vertical towers. I always imagined what it was like if Deja Vu was still here today. And yes, I agree on your point. SFOG does need a launch coaster, the thing is location, maybe a Premier rides Sky Rocket II could go in the Whistlestop/Deja Vu area? Deja Vu was a fantastic coaster. It had lots of maintenance issues and went down often, but the park/chain gave up on that coaster model too quickly. There were a total of three of the GIB coasters at SF parks; all but one was sold off. I could never figure out why SFNE acquired the castoff from SFMM while the SFoG copy was sold to a South American theme park operator. But - all this happened under prior management, and during the chain's bankruptcy and debt reorganization. I have to believe SF would have kept their GIB's if todays powers-to-be had their say. With all the awesome-ness of Twisted Cyclone coming our way this year, it will probably be a few years before this park gets its next coaster. I would love to see a launcher but I could also see an S&S 4D free-spin going in the former Whistlestop/Deja Vu area too.
-
Good point! I was really hoping they save that spot for a 12th coaster and put the swinging pendulum somewhere different. Maybe they will finally tear down the axis arena and put a riddlers revenge there or use that spot for a new coaster! There's actually lots of room in the area behind the former Whistlestop and the current go-carts including a large section of parking lot which is never used except for trams. I agree a Giant Discovery (pendulum) would be a great fit in that area but it seems there's also room for a coaster someday. They won't tear down Axis arena. It is used not only for Fright Fest haunts but there are also cheerleading competitions and other events there. I still think 2019 will be a Hurricane Harbor expansion, which is badly needed. (And watch them tease and cross-promote it with the Twisted Cyclone / new Coastal section!)

SF over Georgia did something similar at the start of the 2017 season, adding VR to their Acrophobia drop tower, with the experience named simply 'Drop of Doom'. There were no DC heroes, just giant mutant spiders which riders would shoot before the climaxing drop. The initial feedback on the announcement was negative but riders seemed to like VR on this style of ride better as there was no shaking or jolting side to side like on a coaster. The problems typical of any VR experience (slow loading, etc) were prevalent though. For those reasons I am not a big fan of VR overlays on any ride.
-
I agree the park appears to be spending their limited resources wisely. Refurbishing Ninja into Blue Hawk was genius. Other than the old Thomas Town area, the only other area (in dire need) is repainting the Scorcher. I am actually quite surprised that was not done this off-season, given all the love the rest of the front of the park is getting, including the Twisted Cyclone and coastal theming. Although Scorcher is a good coaster, its also an eye sore. On a side note, I have long noted in my surveys that the park really needs to widen the sidewalk to the parking lot. it is only 4' wide and when hundreds of guests are all exiting (or entering) the park at once, there is simply not enough room, forcing some to walk along the road and in some cases right into the path of cars or trams. (I have seen it happen!) My guess is a new major ride will take the space formerly occupied by Thomas Town, but not until 2020. Next year, Hurricane Harbor gets an addition of some sort....unless the park is able to do both in one year, but that is not likely. But - that is merely my prediction.
