  1. Knott's Network posted the following comment on their Facebook page, 'Ground breaking going on at the Mystery Project'. Does anybody know what this was about?
  2. I don't get the appeal, actually. What about them draws enthusiasts?
  3. Yeah, I rode V2 at SFDK. Yeah it was fun but it's not great and definitely not worth more than a station wait. It's a nice carnival ride. Yes, but I wouldn't put it past CF to one day do a ride like this at Knott's considering the space issue.
  4. ^ I honestly don't see the draw. What do these impulse coasters have? You launch real fast and go up a spike then fall back down. At least Monty has two loops, and that launch. Wow. As for an impulse coaster, I can't say I would ever wait in a line longer than ten minutes to ride one. I hope to god Knott's isn't getting another low capacity shuttle ride.
  5. More like I take things at face value and assume people mean exactly what they say. It's my curse. Call me Monk.
  6. Might I suggest: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarcasm You seem to take everything literally. That's a bad idea. I do take everything literally. I have no concept of sarcasm or jest.
  7. First, he said major. Second, the he said coaster. Fireballs are neither major nor roller coasters.
  8. Curious. Last night the back-hoe was digging in the area immediate adjacent to the station platform, which I am convinced will remain and be reused. As you can see in the first picture it looks like the back-hoe is digging a trench of sorts around itself, leaving itself high an dry on an island of dirt. Now in daylight we can clearly see that the pile of crushed concrete is much smaller and there appears to be a bunch of it in the area that the back-hoe was digging, just inside the fence on the left side of the dark turned up dirt area. We can also clearly see that the right side of that dark turned up dirt area has been raised up leaving the pile of concrete in a sort of depression. I believe that we are beginning to see the first bits of construction rather than deconstruction.
  9. It actually fits the dark edge they did a week or two ago. Now the dark peeled paint areas look like beds of undersea coral. By the way they really need to line the edge with some wood posts so it actually looks like a Boardwalk.
  10. Anybody know why the water in the lagoon is suddenly darker? It does looks more authentic now. More like real southern California ocean coloring. Maybe that's the look they were going for. May 26 May 30
  11. Maybe I'm being too critical. The aquatrax looks like a nice family coaster. I guess just I'm hoping for something more intense. Knotts has enough family coasters and most are fun but they need a few more intense thrills. On a different note i'm curious if all those flashes and sparks last night were cutting or welding. What are the chances they keep the existing station foundation? Can't tell from this angle but the existing track trench might be be in a straight line with the backside of the new resturant building. You mention the resturant takes up a lot of space they could have used for a new ride. Kind of indicates to me that if they don't remove Sky Cabin then they very well might have the lift hill go up behind the BBQ and wrap around the tower. That would be the best use of space allowing for virtually all of the old Boom and Rip Tide space to be used for the main body of the ride.
  12. 8. I used to think Goliath, Flashback and Shockwave at SFMM were B&M because they look like B&M.
  13. I've seen the Intamin aquatrax POV. Sucks. Looks like a water coaster going down a flume but with no water. The coaster itself looks rather lame and completely unthrilling.
  14. Not my home park (Wild Waves SUCKS) but the one I go to the most is Knott's, go figure. I've found if I'm in the gate right at opening I can get on Sierra Sidewinder, Silver Bullet, Monty, Supreme Scream and Xcelerator in that order in the first hour. It probably also helps that I almost always go in December. That's when we make our bi-annual trip to see her folks.
  15. There have been so many rumors as to what will replace Boomerang that it's become a jumbled mess. For several years now "experts" have kept saying that Knott's is due for a giga coaster. Some have gone as far as saying they have sources saying as much. But others keep saying there is no way that a giga could fit anywhere at Knott's let alone in that space. But are we all assuming giga as in a 300 plus foot hyper style? What if they simply mean giga as in height? Aside from the giga aspect the other major rumor is a dive coaster, but recent news from the now infamous "conference call" started to make every one rethink B&M because a B&M dive coaster would be neither a renewed relationship nor a new ride type. Or would it? A 300 foot tall dive-wing coaster would be new and it would be just the draw Knott's needs. I still think Knott's is getting an RMC Raptor just based on the statement that one of the four coasters will be a new type of ride. But damn, a 300 foot dive-wing coaster would be a bitchin' ride! Imagine hanging off to the sides as you hurtle towards that little hole in the ground. You would swear that the tunnel is too narrow and that it will shear off the seats. Or maybe it will be a giga Raptor. Hmmm. I seriously cannot wait until the big reveal.
  16. ^ lol I actually pictured Ahcmed in his Jacques disguise in that little Bobcat making art. It's been awhile since I laughed that hard.
  17. I wonder why they keep piling the broken concrete in a pile by Sky Cabin rather than dump in the dumpsters and cart it away. In the past week they haven't hauled away a single piece of concrete as far as I can tell. They just keep piling it up by where the hat shop used to be.
  18. Back at work tonight. I was watching the webcam and I noticed some people going under the old queue station. Then I saw flashes of white and blue light and sparks. Lower right hand area of the "trench" the track used to run through. I'm not quick enough to capture the sparks but I did get some successive screenshots of the flashes of light on and off. One of the screenshots actually a piece of one spark. It looks like a white pinpoint. Curious what they are doing for one. I doubt they are cutting support beams. That would be dumb if you are under it. But secondly, I didn't know it was an underneath. Kind of cool actually. Anyway enjoy.
  19. One, how the hell are seatbelts allowed? Two, do they lock out can they be unbuckled? Three, why don't more parks have these?
  20. A dumb name and theme don't keep me from riding. It's still a fun coaster.
  21. I'm going to play Devils Advocate here for a moment. If what you say is the case then why did they include the Dance Hall in the background? No I think it's pretty clear that Sky Cabin is coming down and Boom'about becomes a planter
  22. I dislike chute-the-chutes like this. You wait forever in line then you go up then around a turn and then down. Weeee whoopie. Yeah the drop is thrilling but it's such waste. I felt the same watching POV of the first dive coaster. You go up and are held and then drop straight down, make a turn and then done. Weee whoopie. At least B&M started making longer rides but why did no one ever make a longer chute-the-chute along the lines of a log ride maybe even crossing it with a rafting ride type experience. That would be fun actually. I'd wait in line for that.
  23. One might assume that if it was the case that Sky Cabin isn't in the rendering because it was in fact to be removed, that it would also stand to reason that since there is no ride in Boom's spot that either there isn't to be a replacement or that it is something low enough to not be visible. Personally I just think that the exclusion of Sky Cabin is also just an anomaly because Coast Rider should also be visible in the background from this angle. Knott's and Cedar Fair aren't dumb enough to accidentally reveal Boom's replacement in a restaurant promo poster prior to their official announcement.
