  1. Watched our ladies' curling team against the Japanese women on repeat earlier today, it was actually pretty nail-biting stuff, especially since I didn't know the result beforehand.
  2. ^ Great song! We Can Work It Out - the Beatles
  3. ^ the only times frogs are really mentioned are the Chocolate ones - even as a Harry Potter fan, I don't really know where they're coming from on this.
  4. Dr. Woofenstein - The Damned
  5. Ignite - The Damned
  6. As an Indiana Jones nut, I can't wait for 275-299. Mike 'only 65 posts to go!' Moody
  7. Quoted for truth, that movie was great. But you forgot to mention Dr. Facilier, who is pretty much the greatest Disney villian since Maleficent. Having seen it twice since that post, I have to humbly apologise for forgetting Facilier's fantasticness. His animation throughout Friends on the Other Side (and that song in general) is brilliant - and they also did a great job of making us sympathise with him a bit, as he was pulled into the Other Side. Also, have to give respect to Randy Newman's orchestral score - I reckon the final 10 minutes are scored almost as well as Beauty and the Beast's, particularly the transformation.
  8. The Hurting - Tears for Fears
  9. I saw Avatar, in IMAX 3D, on Wednesday, and thought it was alright. I didn't think the live-action and mocap actors gelled together enough for me to believe them (although I think, as the graphics technology continues to improve, this will hopefully stop being a problem..but right now, to me, it looks like stop-motion monsters in a live-action film, and not the awesome Jason & the Argonauts skeletons, more the Terminator), and I was really quite disappointed with the script. The final battle was pretty good, but I was exhausted by the time we got to it. I saw The Princess and the Frog last night, and was pretty much blown away. The animation was great, and at times, actually hilarious (the first appearance of adult Charlotte, in particular). I loved the music, and I think Ray must be one of the greatest side-characters ever. I'm probably going to see it again, very soon.
  10. Start of the Breakdown - Tears for Fears
  11. Japan would be my prime choice, but Australia, especially with the Singapore and NZ (Kiwis and honorary kiwis rejoice!) add-ons looks like a great second choice.
  12. Is it geeky that I heard the SpectroMagic fanfare cut in in my head, as I scrolled down to see the corresponding float photo? It's a great report, and the whole Lauryn thing sounded like a really weird '30s slapstick farce, but (obviously) without the slapstick.
  13. Oh, man, then you don't even want to hear that mine went in the dumpster. I had that ticket (well, the stub at least) and the one to the Star Tours 60 hour (or was it 72?) party from the opening weekend. I was a huge Star Tours fanboy when it opened as that was the "new ride" when I worked at the park and collected everything I could from it and attended every event they offered. I'm not even sure I have anything left from that ride at all! --Robb Ouch, Robb! Being a big Star Wars fan (I count myself as lucky that I was exactly the right impressionable age when the Special Editions were released, and so got to see them in the cinema), Star Tours was pretty much the first ride I remember going on at Disneyland Paris, and so any version has nostalgic value for me.
  14. Update on Mike's Jealous-o-Meter - that Star Tours opening night ticket is on top at the moment.
  15. I think the things I'm most geekily impressed by/jealous of are the trays/menus, although, if I had the Land pavillion tray, I'd probably be proudly using it, rather than stashing it away. The piece of the Matterhorn is also very, very cool. Mike 'How did your most recent visit to WDW go?' Moody
  16. Asylums in Jerusalem - Scritti Politti
  17. Okay, I'd assumed from what my parents, who'd lived in Windsor and visited whe it was the Safari Park, said, that a lot of the trees were Safari Park-vintage, but their memories may be off.
  18. Windsor was Windsor Safari Park before Lego got to it, and they made a concerted effort to keep the majority of the flora, if not (obviously) fauna, there.
  19. ^ I very much doubt we would get a version in the Windsor park, global warming hasn't quite caught up with the UK enough, unless it was situated indoors - at the height of summer, though, I'd imagine it would be VERY popular at the Billund (Denmark) park (which already built a mini Pirates-themed waterpark section inside the park in 2008), and probably Deutschland, although I don't know what sort of heat southern Germany gets.
  20. Badman's Song - Tears for Fears
  21. ^ Actually, Tell Me It's Not True was the big hit from Blood Brothers, if you're talking about chart success outside the show itself. And War Horse isn't a musical. Mike 'not trying to a smart-arse, honestly' Moody
  22. Just Hangin' - The Damned
  23. Combined list of birthday (on the 22nd) and Christmas presents: Kevin Yee's Mouse Trap book Coffee table book on Pixar Coffee table book on Sesame Street Coffee table book on Star Wars Book of academic essays on the Muppets Book on the making of the Clash's London Calling Lego Indiana Jones 2 (Xbox 360) Gorillaz' Bananaz DVD Book of Roger McGough poetry A Bill Bryson (non-travel) book Mike '8 books does not a geek make..really' Moody
  24. When we went on Monday, it was pretty much dead. Good fun for a couple of hours, though; the Dragon Wagon op sent us round the circuit 11 times, at an increasingly high speed, I loved Gory Superman (in the ghost train) mumbling 'Welcome to my house...'; as for the Rhythm Rider/Miami - I think Ben, Chris and I were glad to have managed to stay inside the restraints!
  25. I like the Spinball-to-Sonic switch idea, if only because it'll be a tiny reference to that section of Toyland Tours, a ride I wish (as a sad dark ride geek) I'd got to ride.
