  1. Totally different types of coasters. Multi Dimension means the coaster has a drop track. Intamin refers to Darkmare and Th13teen as Multidimensional coasters.
  2. A conveyor system with inline trains like this ride will really help the ride operate closer to maximum capacity than most rides. Empty seats should be rare. The video appears to show OTSR vest style restraints which will likely load faster and will have fewer walked guests than current RMC coasters. But how long is the longest block? 45 seconds? That means 80 trains an hour and that is still only 640 guests an hour. The biggest problem I can see with a conveyor system is that they are often cause issues. It took Universal several years to get the system working on Rip Ride Rockit. Also surprised no one is talking about the fact that the renders show a vest restraint.
  3. PDF listing of all NDT requirements by manufacturer and ride. Assuming it is accurate there is no requirement to perform NDT on the arm. My guess is that since the manufacturer does not appear to require the testing it has never been performed on the ride.
  4. You obviously did not look up the price of the ticket. A 3 day ticket without express is $275 + tax. Express starts at $84.99 a day, for those dates it is $89.99 for Friday and Saturday, and $99.99 for Sunday. Total $591 with tax for just the tickets and express if you want it for all 3 days. $389 for a 3 day ticket and express on a single day.
  5. On the video it looks like one side of the floor had raised back up and that was what the row hit. Something had gone wrong somewhere to allow that piece of floor to raise back up while the ride was in motion. I want someone who claims to see a raised section of floor to explain what section of floor is raised? On the KMG Afterburner to my knowledge only the center section moves at all. The two sides are stationary. The center drops down to form a V shape and I can clearly see the gap from the dropped floor as the arm comes down and as it goes back up on the other side. From what I can tell the failure occurred right as the ride started its upward swing which would be the point of highest speed and stress on the arms. This looks like a very clear case of metal fatigue.
  6. 10 TV posted a copy of the inspection report which was filled with the state. It shows visual inspection of the rides welds and NDT of 24 gondola pins.
  7. I am pretty confident if the row struck the floor it was after it left the arm. Do not forget that there has to be enough clearance for the riders legs. I do not believe the floor ever moves into a position where this is possible. I am trying to count legs as the ride swings down and it appears that there are 4 people on the row before it detaches from the arm. I believe the two people flung through the air actually came from the row which detached since there are only two people in the row when it came to rest on the ground. This should not be possible period. If we need more testing or this ride needs redesigned something like this should never occur again.
  8. Is it? This is completely anecdotal but when we visited in late June it was posting a 150 minute wait which was actually the longest line of any ride in either park (and it seems to have reasonably good capacity). I know a lot of coaster / theme park enthusiasts don't like it because it's mostly screen-based but does the average guest really care? Maybe they do, I'm just surprised to hear that since it seemed to be ridiculously popular when we went. Personally we really enjoyed it, I probably wouldn't have waited 150 minutes for it but aside from Gringots and Forbidden Journey I can't really think of any ride in Orlando I'd wait 150 minutes for. Personally I am not a fan of Kong. I thought the ride system was interesting and the exterior of the building and queue were amazing. But find myself not caring about the 3D screens. The ride does not do a good job of drawing you into the action, you are just watching events occur on the screens. Which I think is what separates Kong from rides like Gringotts, Forbidden Journey, and even Transformers. The reason I go to theme parks is because of the unique experiences which you cannot find anywhere else. Why spend a $100 a day to stare at a 3D screen? I can pay $15 to go watch a 2 hour movie in 3D at my local theater. Rides like Gringotts and Forbidden Journey are mostly 3D screens but at the same time they have the ride vehicles which do so much more than just bounce you around. When Gringotts and Forbidden Journey were new I might have been willing to wait 120-150 minutes but today I will not. I would prefer to just find something with a shorter wait time. Which is why I typically visit during slower times of the year. The only ride in Orlando I would wait 150 minutes for right now is Flight of Passage. After I have been on the ride several more times, my tolerance for long lines will likely die down and I will only be willing to wait an hour for it. But right now I am still amazed by the ride and cannot wait to get back and ride it again. The next big new ride at Universal Orlando is Fast and Furious which uses the same ride system as Kong. Which based on my experiences with the Hollywood backlot tour I will not enjoy that ride either.
  9. Dippin Dots employee? Maintenance? Ron Weasley? Let me put it this way, I trusted the individuals information enough to fly to Orlando last weekend so I could ride dragons for the last time because my trip I had booked for September would be a few weeks too late. It is also very possible they are wrong, I just decided to share what I had heard.
  10. I have heard a rumor that the Dragons will duel again for the last weekend.
  11. According to the survey Disney did before the announcement price is around $1000 per a person for a two night experience. The economics of a cruise are very different from a hotel. More than likely it will be more expensive than a Disney cruise per a night.
  12. The ride has been trimmed since year 2, y'know. The ride had trims in the same locations they are today on opening day. According to one of the designers of The Beast they only took one ride around the track without trims. You might be thinking about the tunnel around the helix which was added for the second year.
  13. For sometime I figured Dragons would be removed and replaced by a new Potter attraction. But it felt like it was something which would likely occur in a few years. I no longer feel like Dragons has years left and I am really starting to doubt it will even survive the rest of the year. I really hope the replacement uses practical effects. Rides like Men in Black, and Jurassic Park are a lot more memorable and enjoyable than King Kong.
  14. My assumption is that some of those projects are other companies having RMC make their track. For instance they make the track for the S&S Free Spin. I also know they are making the track for the Skywarp. If he included these third party projects it is impossible for us to tell how many actual RMC coasters are coming next year from this comment.
  15. Maybe the Boarkwalk origins are California but the origins of Boardwalks are Atlantic City.
  16. Railblazer for Knott's makes no sense due to your own logic. You say it is for a western themed area of a park ignoring that the area where Mean Streak is located is western themed. While the section of Knott's where the ride will be located is themed to a seaside boardwalk.
  17. The $69 single day pass should not be directly compared to the $499 because the season long pass includes tax. Including the 13 percent tax it is $78 vs $499. Which means it would take 6.4 trips or rounded up at least 7 days to break even. It does seem a little late to be offering this at this price.
  18. Canada's Wonderland is now offering a season long fast lane plus. The price jump from the smaller parks is pretty large, they are charging $499. Although based on attendance and lines the price is what I expected. If it was my home park I would buy it. I think some parks like Carowinds had prices which were too low at only $125. At this point I believe Knott's, Kings Island, and Cedar Point the only parks which have not offered season long fast lane yet? I would like to see a chain wide pass next year maybe around $749, although it would likely be $999.
  19. As long as you have a Platinum pass it should work at all the parks. The drink plan will not work if you have a regular pass and purchased a day ticket. I have heard the meal plan is now requiring you scan your pass to get into the park so if you somehow made it past the gate without the pass being scanned I could see the drink plan not working. I ran into a similar problem at Knott's last year with the meal plan. The parks connection to the other parks was down. So only passes from Knott's would scan and work. They had to call customer service and lookup my pass every time I used it all day. This is why scanning a pass at a park other than your home park typically takes an extra second or two. So far this year I have used the drink plan at Kings Island, Cedar Point, and Carowinds.
  20. GCI - Apocalypse, SFMM, The layout seems fine, but the ride runs like complete garbage, the weather in LA does not help but it just feels like the parks maintenance department never does any track work. B&M - Hair Raiser, Ocean Park, The ride was extremely rough and I have heard of others with the same complaint, which leaves me to wonder does it just need new wheels, or is it just a bad ride, no question the roughest B&M I have heard of Intamin - Green Lantern, SFMM, Unlike the others this has nothing to do with maintenance, it is just a terrible ride
  21. There is no need to do the math or to even argue about what you think capacity will be. RMC did the math already, theoretical capacity is 600 an hour with 3 trains. Which does means it has a lower potential capacity than a boomerang. EDIT: I need to add there is almost always a way to fix capacity issues and build an amazing new ride. For example make it have two tracks and be a racing coaster. A park could take the Disney approach similar to Primeval Whirl and just build two copies of the ride. At the same time though these are extreme measures most parks will not consider.
  22. Unlikely, according to RMC these are intended for family entertainment centers not theme parks. T-Rex is for parks and is supposed to follow by one to two years.
  23. It is rare for fastlane lines to get too long at Kings Island. The only time I have seen them have more than a few minute wait is in the fall when they give free fastlane bands for annual pass renewals. The ride ops are very good about monitoring the length of the fastlane line and giving it more of the rides capacity if the line gets long.
  24. The Red Baron is basically the villain from Peanuts. He is based on a real person who was a German fighter pilot during World War I. Basically in the comic Snoopy sits on his dog house and imagines he is having dog fights with him over Europe. Which always end with his plane (dog house) being shot down by the Red Baron. Why do I think this is possible? Basically all of the teasers from the park have featured Snoopy. Including what was released last year. And the two more recent images. Beyond the teasers, I think theming a coaster to an imaginary battle with a World War I fighter pilot seems like a good idea. There is no need for the ride to be a kids ride, it can still have inversions, a stall, and other elements RMC is known for. As you leave the station you are cleared for take off, climb up the lift hill and a speaker announces that the Red Baron has been spotted right before the drop, then in the brake run you hear something about being shot down and you might have better luck next time. I am a little surprised Cedar Fair has not already done this.
  25. The parks teasers are making me think this might be themed to the Red Baron from Peanuts. Not sure why else Snoopy would show up in so many of the teasers.
