  1. Ladies and Gentlemen, step right up and get your ticket for the rumor train. Is SeaWorld going to survive or who is going to buy them?
  2. Not being a party pooper at all. I'm sure there are rules in place at the parks to shut everything down if there is a drone in the area. Think of all the people who would have a field day if Orion's construction was delayed because someone wanted a better view of it.
  3. You sound like someone who would argue with security for being asked to put your cigarette out because you are only 2' outside of a marked smoking area.
  4. I've seen it full and backed all the way up to the tunnel on Saturdays during Haunt and Holiday weekends (which is why I avoid those).
  5. Kings Island and Kings Dominion both have announcements Thursday. I would venture to guess that Cedar Fair will do all announcements then.
  6. Everyone else trying not to get their hopes up about the August 15th announcement?
  7. I agree! How is it that across the parks, they do these brews and food events that have some pretty amazing food being sold from temporary kitchens? Then you look at their permanant park restaurants that are serving three chicken tenders and a handful of fries that have been sitting under a heat lamp for an hour for $15. What is the disconnect here?
  8. Great trip report and love the jokes. Dominator as a hyper-floorless was really good.
  9. Steel Vengence was the first coaster that made me contemplate traveling to visit a park the year a new coaster opens. That being said, I didn't. If it's something that I'm truly interested in, I tend to look at going the second or third year after the frenzy has eased up a little. Doesn't break my heart if I do or don't ride a new coaster the year it opens. What breaks my heart is waiting 2+ hours to ride something. If I'm paying more than admission on FL+, I don't want to wait more than 15 minutes for anything. So again, first year of a new coaster is a pass for me. I'm sure there are plenty of other enthusiasts and pass holders who feel the same.
  10. And by "Head of Maintenance" she meant former board operator....? Your part was awesome and well said, Kudos!
  11. I've got my popcorn popped waiting on Coasterbill to stir the pot... In all seriousness, the news sucks but not surprising. Seeing all these people on Facebook losing their minds is pretty crazy. My favorites are the ones who mention that it always had a long line which is why they can't get rid of it. It had a long line because capacity was so bad. My personal opinion was it was amazing for what it was. After having ridden it the first time, if the wait was more than 30 minutes, it was a skip for me. Most times you can get two rides on Intimidator to one on Volcano. It is iconic and was groundbreaking. I'm sure there's something up their sleeve and there is that GPS teaser that we haven't heard anything more about. This will surely speed up any plans for the future that they have.
  12. This is exactly the opposite of how it generally works (at least on all of Great Adventure's coasters that run for Holiday in the Park). As time passes the rides run faster and faster as they keep cycling to the point where even if the temperature drops considerably (or the wind picks up considerably) after dark the rides haul A$$ because they've been running for about 5 hours straight. If a ride is going to valley it will almost always do it at the beginning of the day (probably during testing). Difference is during normal season, rides start cycling much earlier in the day. During Winterfest, rides done start cycling until at most 2 hours before open.
  13. Just my two cents on the temperature thing. It isn't necessarily just the temperature that plays a role. It's the amount of time it takes for the trains to make a circuit. There usually is a time that once it passes, it becomes more of a probability instead of a possibility that the train will valley. Take into account how long it takes for the train to stop moving enough to clamp, temperature, and time to evacuate the train, it would make more sense to err on the side of caution. If the daytime temperature doesn't warm up enough, you're talking about the grease not getting loose enough to even think about it. I'm no expert but I wouldn't want to be stuck on a coaster in 30s waiting to be pulled off in a lift.
  14. If you Google Map search for either park, those are the default pins that Google had set for the parks. I doubt the location of the markers have any significance other then bring people riled up about something going exactly in those spots.
  15. Went to Haunt two Friday's ago and never posted. I didn't take too many pictures because I was busy trying to catch as many rides as I could. First of the night was Drop Tower and was the only person on it. Have to say, that was pretty surreal! Then got a back to back on 305 without having to get off at night. Super intense and as always, way better at night! After that, took two spins ones Delirium which was awesome because at the top of the swing, you broke free of the fog. Got one back row ride on TT in the dark"ish". Tons of lights on the track and from the mazes it isn't really in the dark. Last ride of the night was on Dominator which would've been so much better if they turned the bus lot lights off! Now for the Haunt stuff. I didn't do any mazes because those aren't my thing. Necropolis looked awesome and is always one of my favorite areas. Theming is always on point, great setting, and tons of scare actors. Didn't make it into the Lair as the people I was with took one step in and turned right back around. The amount of fog and strobe lights was impressive and I would've had a hard time walking through there. IronWorx just looks cool. Got lucky as the fog completely settled into the walkway and you could barely see six feet in front of you. Plenty of scare actors in character! CarnEvil was well staffed with enthusiastic characters. The Yard had an awesome set up and was great to see them expanding a maze outside into the area surrounding it! Didn't go through the Congo area as we just ran out of time. Caught the Blood Drums show. Seems to be very similar to the show they had a few years ago when they had Blood Dums then. Definitely seemed upgraded with video wall panels and a ridiculously loud sound system! The video panels were definitely a nice addition to the Overlord show. Lastly, the fog was insane! Like, way more fog than I ever remember having seen at the park. Had a great time and hope that I can make another trip before the end of the season! View of the fountains and stage from the Eiffel Tower Look at all of the fog coming out of the IronWorx zone!
  16. Being married to someone with severe arachnaphobia, I can absolutely respect anyone who freaks out and would leave a line for them. It's the only thing I'm worried about our possible trip to Cedar Point in October. Her best friend at our house when I'm not home is a bug assault. She can kill them without having to get all up on them or touch them.
  17. Coasterbill to this thread is like gasoline to fire and I love it! Regarding Viper, isn't Six Flags already managing the park? So wouldn't Six Flags have been the one to make that call to part out the other train? Either that or it's been pulled off to be wrapped with right Twix....
  18. Lightning Racer last fall was 100 times better than Wildcat! Between the two, Wildcat would be the better candidate just due to how much it beats you up. Lightning Racer would be awesome but only if they seriously invested in it by doing what RMC did with Twisted Colossus.
  19. Ohio has some of the strictest certifications as far as rides go. I'm sure that because of the bump so soon after certification and opening, the inspectors are putting them through the paces. The ride will need to do so many cycles with everything working 100% in order for it to count. Don't open the gates? Doesn't count. One seat belt unbuckled? Doesn't count. Make a small change in the programming for 3 trains? Will have to recertify for 3 train operation.
  20. If you can swing both, you will have access to a park pretty much anywhere you go. Granted, IMO Cedar Fair parks are more consistent across the board in park offerings than SF.
  21. BBQ & Brew Fest portions are actually decent if you get the tasting card. Compared to al la carte, you get two samples for free. The Peach Cobbler is fantastic!
  22. My name is Dustin and I'm new to this forum. Mainly joined as I caught a couple of posts where people were talking about roller coaster credits and tracking. My home park is King's Dominion but I've been very lucky to travel and hit a bunch of different parks!
