Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Swimace replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Awesome! I got to do the Voyage for the first time last summer and thought it was awesome. Hopefully the new trains will make the ride even better, I can't wait to get back to Holiday World this summer! -
Silver Dollar City (SDC) Discussion Thread
Swimace replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Perhaps one boat has a wheelchair spot or something that may not have a water cannon. It might also be a typo... The splash battle ride at Dollywood fits into the park really well and I think this one will look really nice at Silver Dollar City. -
I almost died laughing from that last photo. PMW for life!!! Entertaining TR as always.

^Plus with that line-up you could probably squeeze in Waldameer, it's not far from Kennywood. I did a large East Coast/Midwest road trip a couple of summers ago and we did Waldemeer in the morning (we got there at opening) then headed off for afternoon/night at Kennywood.

Ohio State Theme Park Engineering Group
Swimace replied to DLDude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1) I currently attend the University of Florida. HAHAHAHA, Buckeys are lame. 2) On a serious note that's actually on topic, my previous university actually sent someone to get an engineering internship with Premier Rides. Clemson was involved in the building of Universal Studios Sentosa's clone of Revenge of the Mummy. GO TIGERS!! Here's the address: http://www.clemson.edu/features/article.php?article_id=2040#comment Perhaps this topic should not be so specific that it only includes Ohio State students... (just a suggestion) -
Awesome dude! I agree that the animal exhibits I saw at SeaWorld were a little bit lacking, the park was really different than my home one. Texas was blast though, great pics!

The Bryan and Colin Show....?
Swimace replied to TheStig's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I love Old Town, it's so classy. I approve of the Bryan and Colin show. -
Last night I went to see Fun at the Drunken Unicorn in Atlanta. If anyone is familiar with The Format, this is Nate's new band. This is the second time I've seen them live. Fun!!!

Awesome photos man! Steel Eel was the biggest surprise of the trip for me, that coaster is awesome!! SeaWorld was really a blast!!

Mine almost took a dive out of one of those really high up tunnels that lead into the airplane. Luckily I caught it before it took the 5 story dive towards the ground level. -
So far I know two cast members who have gotten the chance to ride Rockit. Both of them have said that the ride is rough, but they've also said that it still manages to be a lot of fun despite the roughness. Word from CM previews tonight though is that several of the riders got no audio during testing and that the audio system is still unreliable. Hopefully they'll get this fixed before the ride officially opens to the public.

Man! This just reminds me how bummed I am that my Disney pass blacks out over the summer, I really love those parks! I have high expectations of your upcoming HRRRRRRRR preview, I'm sure it will be very informative. -

This is only a rumor, please don't spread it because it's false. Someone wasn't paying attention! -
Wow, that POV looks awesome! I love Lake Winnie, it's one of my favorite smaller parks in the country. While the Cannonball certainly isn't much by today's wooden coaster standards, it's still a great older woodie that has been maintained extremely well through the years. Thanks for posting that POV!

Let me just chime in on this one. I was with Erik, Cameron, and Paul that day at WoF. We got multiple rides on Prowler and we all agreed that it is a really fun coaster. We all REALLY enjoyed it, but the general feeling was that it was just more family friendly than some of the other GCI's. It was smooth, fast, and really great. You keep throwing around the word "negative", but none of us got off the ride thinking that it was bad at all. For me personally (and I think Robb and Elissa would probably agree), the reason I back up Erik isn't because we're some super-exclusive clique, it's because I've traveled with him and understand his taste in coasters and his personality. The better you know someone, the more you can get out of their opinion. I don't know you, so when you put out these posts it's impossible for me to tell whether you 1) are just a fanboy, 2) haven't ridden as many coasters, or 3) have a legitimate opinion. Personally I'm shocked to see one of Erik's threads become so heated, he's one of the most laid-back people on the site. Sure, maybe we just caught it on a slow day, but I don't think his opinion of a really great ride should cause someone to get so upset. Here is the list of GCI's I've ridden in order from best to worst (IMO of course): Thunderhead Rumbler EK Prowler Lightning Racer Wlidcat Roar Gwazi -
haha, I guess someone had to! Although I may not be able to forgive you for posting that great picture of my trying to squeeze into the mini mine train. All joking aside, great updates! Keep it up!

Wow dude, awesome photos! It seems like we were at SFOT so long ago! I'm getting my credit on the other Mr. Freeze tomorrow and hopefully it will live up to how great the Texas version was. Great job, I can't wait for more updates!

Oooh! Dixieland Funpark's coaster is a lot of fun!. I went about a year and a half ago and the park was free admission (you payed for each ride with tickets that you purchased). I guess they changed to charging an admission price and not charging per ride? Great TR!

So tonight around 9:00pm I got a text saying that Against Me! was playing a secret show at a small bar downtown. Sure enough I showed up and hung out at a chill bar and watched one of my favorite Gainesville bands. Normally when they come to town their shows sell out and get packed, but tonight was great because it wasn't too crowded and everybody had room to move about comfortably.

I have season passes to all of the Florida parks and I'm 6'3-6'4. I've never had a problem with not being able to safely fit on a ride and one of the parks down here.

Tonight I went and saw an acoustic Bayside show at 1982 in Gainesville, Fl. It's the second time I've seen them live, although this time it was just a solo/acoustic gig whereas I saw the full band last time. Good times, it was a chill show and we had a good time.
