That photo of Nemesis from Air's lift-hill is brilliant, just take a look at the attention to detail on the roof of Nemesis' station, amazing, all that detail for a bit that you never get to see! The whole alien looks awsome aswell!!! arrrr, Nemesis is the best -

Another UK Park hit by Local Residents
martinb replied to martinb's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes there are housesnear by, but the strange thing is that the park has had taller rides: Eye in the Sky 140ft & Mega Drop 120ft and it currently has a ride that is louder than a Boomerang! -
Another UK Park hit by Local Residents

^ Well said! This park also wanted to open later in the summer but I wonder who stopped that from happening? -
This time it's Pleasurewood Hills, a little family theme park on the east coast, recently been bought by Grevin & Cie who also own a few other parks through-out Europe and they claim that they will 're-launch' the park, well so far they have, they spent £2million in their 1st season in charge on just maintaining the park, re-painting all the coasters and all new restaraunts, and for this (2006) season they have already added a 3D Boat ride, but they had hope to get The Missile (Vekoma Boomerang) from the American Adventure but local residents have (so far) stopped that plan! It's a shame because it would be such a big ride for the little park(which has never a looping coaster), but they are appealing against it and if it fails they will try to get it in another area of the park! I thought it might be worth mentioning as you lot are heading to Pleasurewood Hills in June! Poor little park , I hate people who live near theme parks

I'm going to Thorpe tomoroww, to be honest I'm not looking forward to it that much, it seems a waste to launch the train to 80mph then up & down 1 hill then brakes, at least with Rita theres more to it! It must be horrible to be travelling at about 80mph then come into some brakes to a nearly complete stop! But I'll find out what its like tomorrow! Also on Thorpes website theres a Q & A about Stealth, and someone asked: Why are there 3 trains when you can only operate 2 at a time? and the man answering them said: We will have 2 trains in operation for everyday of the season, the third is incase theres a problem!! But you just said there was only 1 train?

I have purchased both of them now, the AT one isn't very good but the BPB is very interesting, the camara men follow the park manager round the park to all breakdowns and incidents, including: bomb scares the Avalanche crash Drunken ediots Beavers getting beaten up by yobo's Like I said the BPB is very interesting but the AT just isn't, it doesn't follow the same path as the BPB, it's main feature is about auditioning for a new singer for the hotel! Pretty lame but still very worth watching the BPB

I shall be looking forward to my first ride on Stealth but I won't be queing for it if there is a long que, I would que for a couple of hours for KK or TTD as they are the 2 tallest + fastest coasters, I would also Que longer for Storm Runner + Xcellerator because they have interesting layouts, but Stealth's just looks boring, rides stats say that from the launch to the brakes is about 8 seconds, at least Rita's is about 20 seconds, I think I will end up prefering Rita as it's constant speed! I will probably enjoy it, but I won't ride it as much as I do Nemesis Inferno! Hopefully everyone queing for this will make other que's shorter!! But then I say this everytime a new ride is built, but its never happens!

Poll: Favorite Inversion?
martinb replied to timetrial3141592's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Zero G Roll on an Inverter is great, especially if the train travells through it very quickly, like on Nemesis! Also the Zero G Roll on Shockwave is very fun, shame the whole ride isn't! And sadly thats the only thing Britain has to its coaster records (world wide), it's the only stand-up coaster in the world to feature a Zero G Roll! -
What is the scariest ride in the world?
martinb replied to martinb's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That Thrill Shot with them tiny seats looks very scary! How were you held in your seat? WILD Mouse in Blackpool is indeed one the scariest rides I've ever been on! When your in your little mouse car, if you lean back pretty hard the car, the front will lift off of the track! Then theres the lift hill of death (if your over 6ft tall), especially when another car goes over it, it lowers about 5 inches, which is alot when your head is under it! On every tight bend the car tips outwards and on every drop you lift out of your seat completely, ESPECIALLY on the last drop where the track just seems to disapear beneath you also to be REALLY scared on this you have to go with 2 people in 1 mouse car, the heavier, the faster, the scarier!! -

I've found another ride that scared me quite a lot, Abosuletly Insaine at Fantasy Island in the UK. I know theres one of these in America, I think it's at Cedar Point or SFMM, I dunno! This though is 330ft, and there for is the tallest ride in Europe!( I don't know how tall the Tower of Terror is at DLP, but it does look a lot taller!) Apparantly Absolutely Insaine was going to be 400ft but it was found to be unsafe! This info came from www.fimania.co.uk and this website also claim that it's maximum speed is 100mph! Which is wrong, thats the strange thing about these rides, they ain't that fast, S&S Space Shots are fast than these! I was very nervous whilst I was in the seat waiting to go up, but as soon as we went up it was ok, until we went over the top of the poles, thats is the most I have ever shat myself, looking down at the poles, when they sway like metres either way nad then the seats chuck you forward! Gotta admit, it's a great view but I was very scared going higher than them poles! And after one of the ploles collapsed in America, I don't know if I'll be riding it again! But they are fun! Fantasy island is An awsome park to look at, with a 150ft coaster, 170ft Inverted coaster, 200ft Space Shot, 220ft Ferris Wheel & 330ft Sling Shot! Shame the park is let down by not having wristbands and bad staff, although during the summer it is open 11pm!! That doesn't really make up for pay system!! INSAINE 4.bmp View from Millenium Coaster, with Europe's Tallest Tradional Ferris Wheel! INSAINE 3.bmp More Weeeeeeeeeeeee INSAINE 2.bmp Weeeeeeeeeeee INSAINE 1.bmp Coming Down! -

That Sky coaster looks mega!! I've only been a couple here in England, they weren't as big as 300ft but they weren't scary either, they were too much fun!Weeeeeeee all the way!!! Just out of interest, how much is it to go on that Sky Coaster in Florida? -
I will go on any ride but there's one ride at a certen park then when I know I'm going there I'll be weery just knowing that Im going to go on it, it's been labled as Britians scariest ride, and it deserves it! It's Apocalypse at Drayton Manor, the Stand-up Floorless part is by far the scariest!! and it helps that the seats are tilted 45degrees when you start moving up! The intensity when you drop is unreal, but I love even though I cack myself everytime I go on it! This ride is closly followed by Oblivion at Alton Towers, properly because they are the same type of ride but you face the floor on Oblivion and everything about it is so eery, the queline music, the que line video's, how you creep up the lift hill, the eternity it takes to get round that bend, and then its just pure adrenaline!! and when you hit the brakes your buzzin like a beehive!!! Oblivion Apocalypse

I wouldn't really say it was a lie, it was just a rumour! I personally think that AT hs to much room that they don't use! For example, when you first get in the park, at the bottom of Towers Street there's a great big field with nothing in it and it's a perfect place for AT to build a big ride, if you look around that field, it's kind of dipped in the middle, everything around it is higher and ther are lots of trees, I know the fireworks are done on this field but thats only 5 nights out of a whole year!! and I know that AT has themed areas but if TP had that much space you could guarantee a world class ride would be on it within a year!!! IMO theme parks should have rides everywhere, leave the well themed areas to Disney, I mean Disney has rides spead out all over the place and you have to walk a distance to get to some (which isn't that bad as you have world class beautiful themeing to look at and it seems like AT have tried copied that)! Its not a bad thing when your at Disney because you don't just go for the rides, you for the experience of Disney! But when you go to AT you go to ride some world class rides! but at the end of the day I'm absolutely knackered!!! It's the only park out of Disney where that happens!

Thats one of them crazy drop towers that M&D's Scotland Theme Park are getting! There was a lot of confusion when the planning permission details were released on this ride, as it says it was a drop tower with a 40m height and a 60m lenght! -
I've just found some more news on the future of Thorp Park: They do intend to fill in loads of the lake but then they also have to expand the lake elsewhere! 2007:Establishment of an all season lake arena show, A round ride, A high capacity ride in Model world(which is now where Stealth stands) 2008: A coaster or similar in Canada Creek (of the same scale of Nemesis Inferno)(Please God let it be a Floorless) Treasure Island kids corner 2010/2011, which would include 3 flat rides. A Fantasy Island/Runaway Train ride and play zone in 2011/2012. A Haunted House ride in 2012/2013. A Bobsleigh Ride south of the Dome in 2013/2014. 2016/2018 X:/ No Way Out may be replaced. All of the rides will be of low structure. These may change depending on the move of the market. WTF X:/NWO *MAY* be replaced in 2018!!!!!!!!!!!!THATS 12 FREAKIN YEARS AWAY!!!ITS ALREADY PEED PEOPLE OFF FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS!!! I am just so glad that these are rumours!!! That crap ride makes me want to cry

I never said that AT getting that Woodie is boring, but lets face it, is it really going to happen? Local residents rejected the planning of it the other year so why would they change their mind?, everyone knows that the local residents around AT would love to see closed down forever and turned into a load of flower beds and trees, so they will never approve anything that is good for AT! And I never said that TP is boring, I just said that all these future plans have been for Chessington, nothing on that scale for AT & TP!! I personally think Chessington is a fantastic park and I would love to see and Animal Safari!! You also have to remember that TP is very small, to add new attractions their going to have to remove old ones, and once X:/NWO has been removed(God I hope thats sooner rather than later) what else can they remove? They dont have no room to build a mega coaster, unless they can build it on the lake that surrounds the park, do they own the lake?

Well theres not much to look forward to at Alton Towers(so far), apart from the possibilty that the Wooden Coaster (SW6) plans have rumoured to be back in business, possibily for 2008!! And Thorpe Park is pretty much the same! Apart from, As crazy as it sounds, the park’s next coaster may be in design, and the rumors claim it will be another B&M. (I hope, if this indeed is true, that its a Floorless) But the future couldn't be brighter for the smaller of the three parks, Chessington World of Adventures: *CONFIRMED* 150 room Safari Themed Hotel, overlooking Wild Animal Habitats!c Apparantly this is ment to be open in 2007.......we'll see about that.. *CONFIRMED* Animal Safari, well this is 9/10 confirmed but there still debating on wether it will be a drive through safari or just an addition to there already large zoo area! *Approved*not Confirmed, but they are hoping for a Water Park! Whats your say on this?
