  1. I'm just trying to think in CF's shoes... How would you market a new flyer with Time Warp there? Anyways, I'm still counting on a Wing Rider or some new prototype train design... So curious to find out what's so unique about it.
  2. I don't know why people keep saying flying coaster -- It's never going to happen as long as Time Warp is there. CF would not waste their money on such a similar attraction in the same park that both market as the same thing. I'm actually quite interested to see if this is another B&M with prototype trains. I'm really liking the relationship the park has with B&M now.
  3. Where are the supports in the last two pictures being stored? In the area next to Speedcity? Having them there would mean they should be going up relatively soon. Otherwise they'd be sitting out in the parking lot.
  4. It would be great to see a new lift hill poking into the skyline by the end of the season like with Behemoth. With that aqua colour, perhaps it will have some sort of 'ice' theme to make the interaction with Dragon Fire make sense... Wouldn't it be awesome if they brought back the old fireball paint scheme on Dragon Fire's train? I'm surprised they didn't do it for this nostalgia season we have this year.
  5. I still haven't been to the park since June, but I hear there is a 'CL' marking painted on the ground near the front gate? As cool as it would be to have a new coaster interact with the entrance, I can't see it happening. The construction site right now is too far away and having the coaster go all the way out there would just seem too forced. That said, I kind of think it's a trick by the park. CF has been doing that a lot lately... (Carowinds' "HUSS GF" marker, the giga coaster tag). A company that loves their privacy when it comes to new attractions wouldn't do stuff that blatantly obvious. With Gary Slade saying that he made that comment based on the engineering, I'd like to believe that this will be a very unique attraction, something that we shouldn't be comparing with other existing rides. I still can't stick with a prediction... I kind of want to say B&M Wing rider, but Thorpe Park has that down for 2012 as well. Hmm...
  6. Speak for yourself. I've personally never ridden one, but it looks like you can get a pretty insane run if the conditions are right. I can't see one going into CP, just because of capacity. I kind of want to see them put in a flyer to add to the variety of rides. (Replace Wildcat with a volare? Trololololol)
  7. http://parkthoughts.com/2010/06/24/new-restraints-on-intimidator-305-make-it-a-brand-new-ride/ I also remember reading good reviews here on TPR when they were replaced.
  8. ^ Based on the positive reviews about I305's "strap" OTSR, then I'd pick B. It would stop the GP's whining about how lame everything is without teh loops. I, myself, would like the idea of having a quality coaster with inversions. Even without inversions, it's going to have OTSRs anyways. I'm still having a hard time committing to a prediction. I'm still pretty doubtful about a giga, but I suppose anything can happen. They've already surprised me with the location of the footers. I've seen the parking lot filled to the brim so I'm really surprised that they'd go out into the parking lot. I also never thought they'd put any large ride in such a high traffic area (the only way in/out for seasonal employees).
  9. Well, the first two giga coasters were built 11 years ago. Consider all that has changed and progressed over the years... In other words, check out I305. I'm still kind of doubtful about the giga coaster. That straight line of footers through Dragon Fire screams launch track to me. Considering our only launch coaster is Backlot, I wouldn't mind it if this were the case. Or I could just be looking at this the wrong way and that's just the brake run.
  10. http://www.9wsyr.com/mostpopular/story/Victim-of-fatal-roller-coaster-accident/jM-zd3jWt0yhuwkx4Y1i4A.cspx So basically all that was holding him in was one thigh? I've heard stories of prosthetic legs flying off on rides ever since the PMK episode on coasters back in the '90s, so I can't see that helping.
  11. We have a time: around 5:30pm today. (http://www.whec.com/news/stories/S2191352.shtml?cat=566) The link that was posted before has been updated with a small detail that witnesses say the man... had no legs. I think that might make more sense.
  12. http://www.wivb.com/dpp/news/genesee/Crews-at-accident-in-Darien-Lake It appears it's happened fairly recently, maybe in the last hour or so... Was this the same one that had the death of a mentally challenged person?
  13. Well, they said his leg got caught on a beam on his fall down and he had some head trauma when they got up to him. The harness did it's job, it was just his unfortunate position during the fall I guess.
  14. ^ I think you should double-check that link. Wonderland just posted the following on their Facebook page: The link goes to the Starlight Spectacular page on their website with these pictures: I really hope they keep up the show in the seasons (halloween!) and years to come... They've got a good thing on their hands here.
  15. Found another one: I had a grin on my face when those shooting stars came out. Funny guys.
  16. ^ How long is the entire show? I found a clip on YouTube which appears to be the end: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuIR9yvb2kE The guy's reaction was hilarious at around 0:58. I'm impressed, though I was expecting to see the fountains actually move/shoot during the show. It's still cool though. I can only imagine what they have planned for Canada Day. In other news, I was at the park today. No-go on Windseeker. It didn't open with the park. Later on when I was on the other side of the park, I saw it running with people on it. When I got to the line, it stalled about 1/4 up the tower so I went for lunch. I was camped out for about two hours in total, watching what they were doing. Maybe someone knows more technical information, but they had people on the 'stage' wiping those fins. See my crappy picture below... The guy was wiping the fins while the gondola moved up to about the top of the yellow painted area... Then everyone disappeared and I gave up on waiting and went home.
  17. Starlight Spectacular debuted yesterday. I've read one review on CW's Facebook fan page which said it was the best of all Cedar Fair parks. Has anyone seen it yet? I'm going tomorrow, though I won't be staying until close. I saw the light strings on the trees when I went on opening day so I'm curious to see what else has been added by now.
  18. THANKS! When you pay for parking, you get a receipt. That is your 'parking ticket'. If you have a season parking pass, you can re-enter as long as the holder is in the car.
  19. ^ I heard this from another forum this morning so I've been checking the webcam periodically throughout the day but I didn't get a chance to after about 3pm. From what I saw, it either wasn't moving or was sitting somewhere up the tower. I'm guessing it pulled a WonderWindseeker or it opened after 3. On the issue of the delay and people complaining, I think people are more passive with the Windseekers because they're prototypes. STR ran into problems because of the boats, which were already running on Holiday World's Pilgrim Plunge a year before, if I'm not mistaken. I guess if Pilgrim's Plunge could get up and running on time even with its unique elevator lift, people had the same expectations with STR. There's also the case that Intamin is such a well known company while most wouldn't know Mondial unless they've been to Wonderland or have ran into a Top Scan at a carnival. I'm also going to point out that their rides are relatively small since they cater more to traveling carnivals. I can kind of see them getting overwhelmed with a project this size, even with their experience in the industry.
  20. The containers in the second picture have always been there. They store props for Haunt in them. How long was the lineup for Windseeker? I was hoping to go tomorrow but some other things came up so I probably won't be able to go until the end of the month.
  21. To be completely honest, I don't spend that much time on the home page anyways. I have it bookmarked so I'll go through it each time to get to the forums, but I'll only stop longer than a couple seconds if a new thumbnail catches my eye. That said, I'd suggest integrating the user accounts from the forums to the home page by offering a "Welcome back! Here's what you've missed since your last visit..." or a "What we have to offer" blurb for those not registered. I'm actually kind of surprised there's no kind of feed for new uploads in the Exchange. You guys have done a lot to promote it with the coupons and all that, but it would go pretty unnoticed to a first time visitor. I'm not sure what you guys think about graphics and all that, but I've always though TPR could use some sort of patterned background or maybe a silhouette of a coaster. Looking forward to what you guys come up with!
  22. After the accident at SFKK, they told employees that they had to physically look up and not to rely on the mirrors. I'm not sure if that rule has changed back though. As for the new cable setup, maybe it can stand higher winds which was the main argument for CF to go with the Windseekers (even though they will shut down in high winds anyways).
  23. I agree that this ride looks better than the Windseekers. As dorky as it sounds, this ride looks and feels like it's 'home'... The Windseekers are just plopped on a blob of concrete. One thing I found interesting is that the op booth doesn't have a skylight window to watch the riders when they're up in the air. Do any of the tower rides have that?
