  1. ^ When I rode it on opening day, it was pretty uncomfortable. While the roughness doesn't seem as bad anymore, the lapbar dug into my gut going over some of the final hills, but that's always been a problem that I don't think that can ever be fixed without major reprofiling. Minebuster is smoother, it's still boring though. Great photos! I love that the park is adding fresh paint to everything, but it seems everything they've painted this past off-season sports a terrible colour scheme. That's just my opinion though.
  2. People were probably dropping things through the fence on the Backlot bridge. That's the only reason I can see, otherwise it would just seem silly since Backlot doesn't have an overflow. Nice trip report. Glad to hear Sledge Hammer is back up. I find it pretty awesome that CW seems to be doing better compared to the other northern parks in terms of ride uptime.
  3. ^ In a recent Point Cast video, they said it will take more than one off-season to complete the painting of Millennium Force. This reminds me of how KI's Facebook fan page was littered with negative reviews after their opening day. The northern parks keep complaining about weather and rain delaying everything, but CW's opening day was almost perfect if it wasn't for Windseeker. Maybe it's just bad luck. Or maybe it's the thundercloud looming over Mr. Kinzel's head.
  4. The words "free" and "Cedar Fair" so close together does not compute. Great pictures!
  5. ^ The ride cycle is three minutes in total. I'm assuming it takes 50secs to go up and another 50 to go back down. As for the article, I don't expect anything less than that garbage they have there. I cannot bare to look at Wonderland's Facebook page anymore. It's filled with complaints and people asking the same questions that can be answered within seconds by visiting CW's website.
  6. Thanks for posting that map, cwcoasterboy. That straight line of stakes means that there's an electrical line running there (they were red, right?). Stakes aren't really there to map out a ride, it's just there for surveying purposes, to know whats underground. When I was looking at the dug up area in person, it just doesn't look like a place where they'd squeeze in a ride. The stakes around Dragon Fire does raise some suspicion, but for all we know, they could just be marking the area for when they install a new sprinkler system. My very early prediction is that they're just going to build an addition to the arcade building. I'm considering the fact that they store the stuffed animals in a shipping container in that same back area. An addition could provide some solid storage space for them in a good location. To sum it up, I'm not getting my hopes up, but that just makes the surprise much tastier.
  7. I been visiting TPR even before the forums were around and I absolutely love how far this site has come. Congratulations! Here's to another million! Well, after you reach the first.
  8. This thread is lacking Windseeker pictures, so here are mine from opening day today. Sorry if the quality on some of them aren't that great, they were taken with my crappy Nokia phone. Speaking of Mondials, Riptide cheaped us out on another spin. Getting ready for the last time around, we started going backwards, then it let go. After a minute, it lowered down to home, where we waited for another 5 minutes before they released us. The park was surprisingly quiet today. We hit all of the major rides within three hours. Then I got ripped off by a slice of pizza and went home. Honestly, it does not look 301' tall... Taken from SkyRider's queue. There's something about the way it sits so close to the midway that's really appealing. I didn't get to see it move today, but the ride was buzzing with workers. I can't wait to hop into one of these. They look so open and free. I was actually hoping that the back of the seats would have those lights that are found on the other Mondials in the park. I didn't get to see the lights since I left in the afternoon, but I'm sure those lights that it has will make up for it.
  9. Ahaha, that picture with the girl and the otsr reminds me of a time at Psyclone at Canada's Wonderland. A girl was tying her shoelace when the otsr came down. I look over, and there's this girl with her head jammed between her legs, laughing hysterically. Anyways, nice pictures! Keep 'em coming!
  10. So I'm currently looking at the Fox19 camera that's aimed at Windseeker. It's pretty hard to tell but I think the gondola is raised maybe 10 feet up. The gondola is not as tall as the dark blue section. Looks like we're getting closer to see it all the way up the tower.
  11. Do you think they'll be open for Friday night/ Sunday? Windseeker? I'll cautiously say yes, but I'm going with the mentality that it won't be. Personally, I'm just excited to be going as a guest for the first time in years. EDIT: Just announced on Facebook... "WindSeeker Update: Our new 301 foot (91.7M) high thrill machine will not be open for this weekend. Please check back next week for an update. Season Passholders don’t forget this Friday from 6pm-10pm is an exclusive night just for you before we open to the general public on Sunday."
  12. I suppose it doesn't make sense having go-carts if there's the Nascar thing down the road. Whatever they replace it with, I'm hoping they give it a theme that's remotely medieval. On another note, Kings Island's Windseeker has all of it's seats installed. I was a little worried about not being able to ride it on Sunday, but the chances are looking better.
  13. Someone who worked at KD said that they always did hand checks on their Drop Tower, and it's always done at CW's, so I thought it was a mandatory thing across the chain. I guess not. Is there a written law or act about dropping or spitting off of rides in the US? There's one up here that's posted at several rides at CW. When Jet Scream (looping starship) was still around, it was normal for the spiel to include that spitting or throwing off objects was prohibited.
  14. I thought they might be able to get it going by this weekend for the private events, but I guess not. With the addition of those tube lights, the ride has become uglier (still not understanding the UFO). It probably looks good when it turns into a night light though.
  15. I'm not surprised considering it's a Mondial. They typically have some carni-style lighting on their park models in addition to the typical floodlights. According to Wonderland (I can't remember who exactly said it), the floodlights will be coloured. I guess that's why there's so much white on it.
  16. ^ Yeah, I know it doesn't really matter being in a backstage area, I'm just curious as to how it ended up in the park in the first place if they're not a supplier for them.
  17. Great photos! Thanks for sharing! I was surprised to see a Coca-Cola bin, the one under Magnum's station... Isn't Cedar Point still with Pepsi? And did they give a reason for cutting down all those trees?
  18. Does anyone have a recent picture of the new lawn? There's seems to be a lot of comments about how sloppy it looks... Sod doesn't look perfect when it's just been rolled out. Last thing about KD... They were probably watching their budgets with I305 on the way. That's always the case at these parks just before a new large coaster comes in.
  19. ^ Didn't they use the area for a new maze though?
  20. I really like what they've done with Shockwave. The new sign looks great!
  21. ^ It's Cedar Fair so I don't think you could expect anything more than plopping rides where ever they can fit. Windseeker doesn't really have a theme, as far as I know... I guess you could look at it as a light house or something, but that might confuse people even more. I like to look at the Windseekers as giant cigarettes.
  22. Obviously the box contains an Irish version of Yahtzee.
  23. What makes you so sure? I'm pretty sure construction markers are universal, colored flags and color marked wooden stakes can both mean the same thing: a utility. It wouldn't make sense to remove a ride to replace it with a garden, even for CF.
  24. ^ More like the one going into SFDK. It really is the year of the star flyer type rides...
  25. Maybe they'll use the falls as a... mist screen. Mountain of Color, anyone?
