  1. The trains are on the short side: six 2x2 cars.
  2. Planned on Six Flags property, maybe? I'm not surprised, but this does seem like nonsense.
  3. Oh, my point was that there isn't much need to increase the amount of airtime. A different sensation could be nice, particularly if it's something that's not on any/many other coasters. (But that sensation is something other than airtime, so I think I like the decision to put in a small air hill.)
  4. I agree with this, though not for the given reason. If they were to do something as drastic as replacing the launch hardware, I'd expect an LSM system by someone well established. LSM technology works just fine.
  5. Mean Streak always had a gigantic structure. It should look gigantic.
  6. That sounds like an improvement upon the trick-track, then, though I'd imagine that airtime isn't really lacking on Shivering Timbers.
  7. The high-jerk* airtime sounds like my experience on Wicked Cyclone, which I liked a lot. How are the lateral Gs on Storm Chaser, though? There were two or three strong lateral moments on Cyclone that I did not enjoy: the two outward-banked turns (particularly the second, the first might have been okay) and the double-banking hill before the on-ride photo. *Jerk is the change in G-force. Sure, a hill might hit -1 Gs, but it's different to go from 4G to -1G in 1 second than to do it in 0.5 seconds.
  8. OMG that's awful. It looked like snow for a moment! The element at 3:09 keeps looking cooler and cooler.
  9. You're right; it is comparable to Roar-O-Saurus. I think I was thinking of GCI trains that have smaller decorations up front, since both train styles are one-row-per-car on a wooden coaster.
  10. I was there around that time a year ago and experienced crowds similar to what you saw in 2015.
  11. Their photo policy seems to me to be about keeping someone from doing something like taking pictures of girls in bathing suits at the water park. I have a hard time believing that it would be an issue to photograph a tree or a ride where no one can be identified.
  12. The decoration on the front seems quite long, agreed?
  13. You will have an amazing day at Great Adventure if there's enough rain Monday to keep people away but not so much that they have to close most of the rides for most of the day. I was there on a day like that last month. I was riding El Toro 4 times in a row without leaving the station. I got a reride on Kingda Ka, even. You'll have to decide if it's worth it to buy the Hersheypark ticket. If you get a lot of riding done tomorrow, I suggest that you consider it. Hersheypark has some amazing coasters, including one that does something that no other coaster in the world does. Storm Runner and Fahrenheit are cool, too, and a lot of people like Lightning Racer.
  14. What parks don't allow cameras inside?
  15. The parks have separate tickets (obviously with combo deals). I'd count them separately.
  16. The 307 number comes from the horizontal component being 307 feet long. If the lift has an angle of 45 degrees, the horizontal and vertical components would be the same. But it would end up a bit higher than 307 feet since the lift wouldn't start at ground level, most likely.
  17. So it could only be taller than Valravn, not Millennium Force. Yum. I do expect this to be hyper-scale, but not much more than that.
  18. Hershey and Jackson both look like there will storms Monday. Tomorrow should be beautiful. The magic seats are the second-to-last row of El Toro, the last row of Skull Mountain (seriously worth trying), and the front row of Kingda Ka (though this could be quite a wait on a weekend).
  19. I just watched the TPR video. Surely enough, they really don't ever get past just overbanked.
  20. That would involve a vertical half heartline roll (and I know exactly how I'd make it in RCT). That would be a fun, albeit unlikely, element. I'm more interested in what kind of air we can get out of a hyper-sized RMC drop, though. Wicked Cyclone has the second-best drop I've ever ridden, beating Fury, Millennium, and El Toro, and then this new coaster looks to be twice as high.
  21. There are a couple of possibilities that wouldn't require anyone to be working on the coaster. Here are two that come to mind. 1. The problem has been identified and no work can be done until a replacement part has arrived. 2. The problem involves software and rewriting code from the RMC office in Idaho. It's amazing how much depends on software these days. A car in my family only had the driver's window going down halfway. Mechanical issue? No! The car computer had gotten confused and was only bringing the window down halfway.
  22. But then should the section be dedicated to April Fool's Day?
  23. This is going to be one of the best coasters in the world, and they've done almost no advertising. That tells me that it isn't opening until next year so they can advertise like mad over the winter.
  24. Uggggg that's given me an idea that won't ever happen. Revive the swinging suspended coaster. Sure, Kings Island has The Bat, but a modern coaster of that style could be a lot of fun. Won't happen, but it would be fun if they got Vekoma or Mack to revive that style.
