  1. Something else to consider about Fury's line is that it moves quicker than you would expect for the number of people in it. At least when I was there last year, the crew was determined to get trains out of there as soon as they could, and these are big B&M trains with 32 people per train.
  2. Mack was the first manufacturer to come to mind that would deepen the pool, but the quote also mentions that it would be someone they've worked with recently. Those notions seem to contradict each other.
  3. 2001: Phantom's Revenge (Kennywood) 2011: Green Lantern (SFGAdv) 2013: GateKeeper (Cedar Point) 2014: Banshee (Kings Island)
  4. My favorite ride on Fury was the back row at night. I did get a front row ride at night, but being tugged over that first drop and plummeting into oblivion was awesome. And it did have pretty strong airtime on those three late hills. 1. Diamondback 2. Skyrush 3. Nitro 4. Phantom's Revenge 5. Steel Force 6. Magnum 7. Intimidator 232 8. SuperBizarro* *I was there on a cold day last year, cold enough for the locals to remark about how we weren't getting whipped over the hills like is typical. If it has typical Intamin air, I'd expect it to jump Nitro. Until then, there kind of wasn't any airtime, so it has to rank last.
  5. I had to laugh when I read that email after reading this thread. It's a bit surprising that they're promoting the front row. Usually that's the most coveted row. (There are extended queues for the front row, not the second-to-last.) I'd have expected the front to be the popular row and the park telling the world about the secret of the second-to-last row.
  6. I do have a season pass, but it's with Great Adventure as my home park. Does that matter? The other factor for me to consider is if that preview will make the park crowded in general. I want lots of rides on Superman and Cyclone! Joker could be a nice bonus but is hardly the reason I'm going.
  7. I can spin that as good news. That could keep people from going before the 27th so that they can ride the new coaster! Station waits for Superman and Wicked Cyclone FTW! And if it's not supposed to be open, then I won't be disappointed when I get there and it's closed.
  8. I'll be mildly disappointed if Joker hasn't opened when I'm there, but that's not why I'm making the trip. I have my own Joker at Great Adventure that I got to ride the day that it was open last year. And if it is open, great!
  9. That's pretty good news. With any luck, everyone will be over at their new Joker coaster, though if it spins like it does in that one video, I might be, too.
  10. I don't know how a coaster fan can look at those pictures Boldikus posted and not enjoy the view of every B&M in the park with the most B&Ms.
  11. I'm hoping to hit up SFNE on May 14th or the 21st. What kind of crowds should I expect, particularly for Superman and Wicked Cyclone? I've only been to SFNE once, and it was cold and early in the season, so those two weren't running at their full speed with full airtime.
  12. I've seen Philly from up there. There also are nice views of a bunch of coasters.
  13. I don't think they'll get into this business, but it makes sense for RMC to work with old Arrow coasters. Schilke was at Arrow in the 90s. If anyone is qualified to work with old Arrow designs, it's him.
  14. Nitro with El Toro's air sounds like it would be about the best coaster in the world. Hopefully that'll keep up throuyhe season for when I visit on a day that isn't cold.
  15. It would be worse if the front were loaded first. Then the weight would be skewed to the part of the train that doesn't want to clear the loop or cobra roll.
  16. It's listed under THE Claw, not just Claw, so it's in the Ts. http://www.hersheypark.com/rides/details.php?id=79
  17. Robb, is that right down the street or right down the street if you ignore all the streets between you and USO? (Someone in another thread thought two places in Orlando were right across the street from each other. Robb pointed out that this is true if you ignore the 30 streets that are in fact between the two places.) I've used that exact same strategy for my longer trips. I don't buy fast passes for my home parks because I'll visit every year, often more than once (and I've been many times), but if I'm driving hours and getting a hotel room, it's enough of a special occasion that I feel that some kind of fast pass is necessary. My last trip was to Carowinds, and being able to hop on Fury 325 as often as I wanted was great. You'll feel the same about Millennium, Maverick, or whatever else you end up loving at Cedar Point.
  18. I think my dislike of hang time is due it the force and the visual being synchronized. If I'm upside down, I kind of expect to fall towards the ground. Contrast that with when I'm upright yet getting launched (at more than -1G on something like Skyrush) out of the car.
  19. I rode WC on a cold day when it would have been running slow, and I didn't think it had anything but perfectly balanced floater air in the three inversions. I agree that hang time isn't the best, though.
  20. There's a filter on this website that replaces a word with the bunnies comment. That word is what describes one of those storage contraptions you had in high school. Maybe you got stuffed into one. The president made some comments that many disliked and mentioned being embarrassed about his [word]room talk at the next debate.
  21. I got an email about a pretty terrific meal deal: $44.99 for a lunch and a snack every day of the season. I was about to jump on it until I realized that my expectation of when I'll be at the park a lot is around Christmas when I'm there at night and would not be eligible for a "lunch". Would I be able to get that pass to be dinner and a snack? (Dinner is the same meal and thus price, just later in the day.) If not, would the late hours of Holiday in the Park or the Halloween events mean that the "lunch" hours are pushed back? Regardless, I expect to be there for opening day. Is there a plan to meet up?
  22. I had forgotten about Medusa (shame on me). Since RMC has done the rollover drop a couple of times, I think it's fair to call that something they do and to speculate that they will do it in other reasonable instances the way that we speculate about wave turns and zero-G stalls. So I do think the lift will go into a curve and then a rollover drop. An interesting take on the Medusa/Storm Chaser drop, though, would be for the turn to bank to the outside and then continue rolling that direction for the drop. I think that would give some interesting forces.
  23. The park can restrict photography on park grounds, but if you're not on their property, they can't do anything about it aside from making it hard to take photos (surrounding it with a wall, for instance). This is different from the total ban on unauthorized photos on this website, which is Robb Alvey's decision to comply with corporate wishes to maintain a good relationship with them (totally reasonable).
