  1. It would be great if they got an RMC, but it doesn't seem twisty enough. None of the RMCs have out-and-back layouts.
  2. At this point, I'd be really surprised if it's not a GCI. Sure, GG could make something with the similarities to Prowler that the overhead suggests, but it makes much more sense to go with GCI, particularly since they seem to have a good relationship with Cedar Fair. As far as going to GG to go local, the biggest coaster companies in the world are in Switzerland, so...
  3. Behemoth is considered one of the best B&M hypers, though, and it's parabolic hill after parabolic hill. There better be a lot of air. I've even heard Behemoth talked about as better than Leviathan.
  4. Ejectior air: being chucked up hard into the restraint Hang time: falling down into the restraint Kindly elaborate on upside down ejector air.
  5. Ejector air while upside down? I don't see how that's different from hang time.
  6. Link to the Instagram photo? I'm getting the notification on my real computer.
  7. Any updates about Lightning Rod? Test launches? One-train operation? I'm trying to make travel plans and will postpone my trip if Lightning Rod is not running, but it would be great to be able to go soon.
  8. I'll agree with that for coasters, but for flats?
  9. Nitro is a poor choice for VR. I really like the location back in the woods and away from paths and other rides. Do it to Green Lantern. It could be something fun with a superhero theme, and coaster fans aren't going to mind skipping its long line.
  10. I'd have a hard time seeing it as a family coaster if it's 100 feet tall. How did World's of Fun advertise Prowler? They already had a B&M invert and a hyper.
  11. And your favorite park got Leviathan four years after Behemoth, which is much more similar to a giga than Banshee is.
  12. I completely forgot about the double drop is how, but if the train crests the second hill at 21mph, then it wasn't even going that fast when it crested the launch hill, assuming that the second is lower than the first (and I believe that's the case). Still about the TimeSaver, would I do something like, "Hi, I'd like to make a reservation, non-smoking, at 9pm for Lightning Rod" and then when I show up at 9 then let me right on?
  13. Who cares if it's a LSM launch, though? Formula Rossa uses a cable for its launch, and it's the fastest coaster in the world. (Not that Intamin is the king of reliability, though...)
  14. I plan to stay at their place, so I'll be getting a TimeSaver with the room. What I meant is that if I go on a crowded day, should I still expect to be able to get on quickly, or, if I can, should I set it up so I'm there on a weekday, even though I'll have the TimeSaver? I just did the calculation. I'm not accounting for issues like train length (I'm treating it like a point) or wind resistance, but the simple calculation says that 35mph at the crest has it going 78 at the bottom, while 21mph at the crest hits the reported 73.
  15. I think they're in a really tough spot for competing as a coaster destination. Most people near Dorney are also near Hershey and/or Great Adventure. The smart business move probably is to treat Dorney as a mid-sized park that has a couple of higher-end coasters. But I'd be elated if they built an RMC.
  16. Question about the TimeSaver: how effective is it at saving time? If I make a plan to go in August (or some time when I would expect it to be crowded), should I try to set it up so I'm there on a weekday when there would be lighter crowds, or would I be able to get through them pretty easily on a crowded day by using TimeSaver? I've heard it compared to the way Six Flags does their fast passes. I've never gotten a fast pass at a Six Flags and have no sense of how well they work.
  17. Where are you getting 50.9, just the launch?
  18. They had a deal about a free third night that I thought extended into June, but I don't see it on their website. Did it expire? With Lightning Rod looking mostly open, I plan to book my trip soon.
  19. I think he means not handling the flying coaster.
  20. WildFire isn't all that beautiful without the amazing setting. I agree that RMCs aren't the prettiest. I prefer wood (and wood-looking) coasters to have catwalks and rails along the side. That looks right to me. The far out view of New Texas Giant is pretty, but on the ride or up close, the cross beams look awkward to me, particularly with the other coaster in that post, Iron Rattler. As with the others, my complaints do not extend into the ride experience.
  21. For those of you familiar with the BizarreMan hypercoaster, I have a question: how good is the air? I hit SFNE on a cold day and was not at all impressed, which was extremely disappointing for a coaster that I thought might take my top spot. I don't live close enough for a trip to SFNE to be trivial, but I can plan a ride up there and back in a day without needing anywhere to stay overnight, so it's somewhere that I'd consider visiting again later this year if Superman feels like an Intamin.
  22. ItalianStallion said what I thought would be the case when I first saw the ride flying through most of the layout! Annoying...
  23. I think the trims are there so that they can set the forces for when the ride is running slow and then trim in down to that speed. Like most here, I would argue that they should let the coaster go over hills at higher speeds, but I posted something about this on the NoLimits Exchange; the parabolic hills are very sensitive to changes in speed. http://forum.nolimits-exchange.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=3395&page=105
  24. Investing in Carowinds makes sense to me. Charlotte is becoming a pretty big city.
  25. I don't think they would do a giga in 2018. It looks like there's going to be a new coaster next year, so to add another coaster---a really big one---the following year seems unreasonable. Part of the reason I think it will be a giga next year is that I want it to be, but it also makes a lot of sense. Chiefly, what else would it be? Cedar Fair isn't a huge fan of wood coasters, and a park that already has a giant wood coaster and a couple of smaller ones probably would not benefit immensely from one. I suppose it could be an RMC with all sorts of goofy banking, as they have nothing remotely like that, but if they do something like WildFire, I'm just as excited about that possibility as getting a giga. I don't think it would be a wing or floorless coaster because the ride experience is too similar to Banshee: feet hanging and inversions. Exhausting the B&M models, it could be a dive or flying coaster (or just a sit-down looper, but that's still too much like Banshee for me to think it's realistic). There are other possibilities: a Mack launch coaster like Helix, or a terrain-based Intamin blitz coaster, something like Maverick through the woods. Giga ends up making the most sense to me.
