  1. Man, I totally spaced. I forgot Disney coasters. Doh! Coasters over 3,000 feet California Screamin' (DCAP) - 6,072 Big Thunder Mountain (DPA) - 4,921.3 Goliath (SFMM) - 4,573 GhostRider (KBF) - 4,533 Riddler's Revenge (SFMM) - 4,370 Colossus (SFMM) - 4,325 Viper (SFMM) - 3,830 Tatsu (SFMM) - 3,602 Space Mountain (DPA) - 3,459 Silver Bullet - 3,125
  2. Well, considering that they "coast" on ""rollers" then I'd say they are roller coasters.
  3. There is no "you guys". Only one guy said KK and TTD weren't coasters and it wasn't me. As far as I'm concerned if it has a track with two rails and is gravity driven then it's a coaster. The launch or lift hill is just the mechanism that puts the train in a position for gravity to take over. Also I didn't say the twist acted as the braking system. I said it slows the descent. A change in track direction always acts to slow momentum. I maintain that straight drops like Fury324 or Int305 or even Xcelerator are more intense than the twisted drops on KK and TTD. That's all I was saying.
  4. Shouldn't count as there is no drop. What does it matter how high in the air you are if you don't experience that height with a drop. I'm with you 100%! I still feel like counting SkyScraper the same way one would count Millennium Force or Fury, is extremely sketchy! Heck, I always clarify the difference between traditional lift hill coasters (like the aforementioned) and TTD, KK, because I feel like the height on those coasters is more of a gimmick, than something really notable. They're really all about the speed, and the high top hat is just a way to burn it off... You got me thinking. Some might say, well at least with KK and TTD you fall 400 feet. But do you really get that experience when it isn't a true drop? Would probably be more fun without the twist. The twist acts to slow you down.
  5. Shouldn't count as there is no drop. What does it matter how high in the air you are if you don't experience that height with a drop. I went on the coaster on Stratosphere in Vegas. It's over 900 feet up but there are no drops. As fart as the coaster itself, it's essentially a kiddie coaster. Even being that high up wasn't any more scary than standing on an observation platform. Now, Stratosphere should put an Intamin drop ride on their tower. It would be decades before anyone ever built a taller one.
  6. You know you're bottom 4 are all taller than your number 1?
  7. 1) Superman: Escape From Krypton - 328 feet (I count drop height, not structure height) 2) Superman: The Escape - 328 feet (It's a different coaster because train is reversed) 3) Goliath SFMM - 255 feet 4) Xcelerator - 205 feet 5) Viper SFMM - 171 feet
  8. Maybe they simply don't want one. Their attendance certainly isn't calling for it. Moves like a re invigorated Ghost Town and family attractions seem to be more successful at this park. At least so far they've made a conscious choice to leave the big coasters to SFMM, and it's worked for them. I think your absolutely right. In the future I could really see them trying to become more of a family park. Better flat rides, better theming, more dark rides. Disney is so expensive these days, if Knotts added more family/dark rides, they could take all the people that can't afford Disney. I really like the direction their headed, and I think we will see them adding a lot more family coasters and dark ride. As much as I would like to see a hyper like Mako @ SWO, I don't think that its ever going to happen. It will only happen if they expand south into the parking lot. Otherwise where would the station go?
  9. They are all ceteceans. There are three kinds of ceteceans, whales, porpoises, and dolphins. Pilot whales, right whale dolphins, false killer whales, melon headed whales, pygmy killer whale, and orcas are all dolphins.
  10. Coasters over 3,000 feet Goliath (SFMM) - 4,573 GhostRider (KBF) - 4,533 Riddler's Revenge (SFMM) - 4,370 Colossus (SFMM) - 4,325 Viper (SFMM) - 3,830 Tatsu (SFMM) - 3,602 Silver Bullet (KBF) - 3,125
  11. Well, considering that 99% of SoCal residents will never leave SoCal to ride a roller coaster, they will never ride all those woodies you listed. GR is the best woodie they will ever ride
  12. Knott's Soak City has announced they will open two new slide towers in 2017. Not two new slides. Two towers. With multiple slides each. They haven't announced what type of slides they will be, yet how much you want to guess one will be a drop slide?
  13. Nah. Aquatrax!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I haven't been all that impressed with the few videos I've seen. Which Auqatrax video are you referring to? Atlantis in South Korea. Don't see the big deal.
  14. RMC redoes are completely new coasters so of course you'd be more excited, but restoring classic coasters to their former glory is a different story, like what they are doing to Hulk. If you liked it before then you can like it again. If you weren't impressed before then you probably won't be now. But I can't see how you could not like now if you liked it before. As for myself, I can love GR again now. As for the re-profiling, when I was in SoCal a couple months ago I drove by Knott's to check out the progress (didn't get to visit this time but got to view the section outside the park) and it looked to be mainly tweaks here and there. I could see the old bolt holes and new cross beams where they either raised or lowered a track section to make a hump steeper or shallower and higher banks on the turns as if to smooth it out.
  15. Nah. Aquatrax!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I haven't been all that impressed with the few videos I've seen.
  16. I've often wondered why they have front set only lines. Also, do train rides count? They're on rails.
  17. About time they paid attention to the water park, I think the last addition was the Proslide Tornado back in 2006. I'd love to see one of those trap door slide towers that CF has been adding to other parks. I wonder if the dry park will also be getting something in 2017? There's rumors of Boomerang closing down, but I can't imagine they'd take out a coaster without something to replace it. I read a rumor awhile back on another site (can't find it now) that a park employee claims to have glimpsed plans in an office for some type of coaster in place of Boomerang and Riptide. This person said it was just an overhead layout of a long and narrow coaster that wrapped around Sky Cabin and appeared to loop out over the lagoon between Johnny Rocket's and Coast Rider. It also appeared to enter and exit a tunnel through the backside of Calico Mine Ride, but that could have just been the lighting. According to Google Earth that space including the loop around Sky Cabin but not section over the lagoon is about 540 by 135 feet. The lagoon adds about 180 by 180 feet. That's 104,625 total square feet of area, some of it having to pass over walkways. Xcelerator by comparison is 76,600 sqft and Silver Bullet is 153,800 sqft. What kind if coaster would fit there?
  18. I've never heard it said before, and I also don't think Knott's cares what locals think as long as they keep riding it.
  19. Simple. Screw Disneyland. Go to Knott's. Have more fun for less money.
  20. It sounded like you were saying you weren't impressed with GR because you had just ridden Joker. To me that sounds the same as saying I wasn't impressed with Pony Express because I had just ridden Xcelerator. Comparing the two isn't fair. But that's not what you were saying. I misunderstood what you meant.
  21. I'll ride any kiddie anywhere at least once, including fairs, if I'm allowed on
  22. Sure sounds like it. Why even mention The Joker? Because he had just ridden what was once an old crappy wood coaster that is now incredible and smooth. I honestly don't know what's so difficult for people to grasp about this... lots of whining for no reason. Didn't mean disrespect. GR is my favorite coaster of all time and I thought he was dissing it. I had to stand up for my lady.I apologize.
