Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Lightning Rod replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have a few questions for some of you. I make a annual trip out to Cedar Point every summer. Before I go I look around at hotels and read guests reviews about trying to find the best hotel in Sandusky to stay for a week. I'm going June 19 through June 24. I was looking at Hotel Breakers I booked a room on Sunday made a reservation for 4 nights. I'm doing the easy payment plan 4 equal payments the first one is charged to your visa to hold the room. My question is this will be my first time ever staying at Hotel Breakers I would like to know if it's worth making the investment trying to spend money and have a nice place to stay for a week at Cedar Point and I would like to here from some of you what it was like for the first time staying at Hotel Breakers and how are the rooms and beds? I got the standard room king bed non smoking. I have always wanted to stay at Hotel Breakers because it's right on the Lake front and within walking distance from the Magnum XL 200. I'm driving from Minnesota 15 hour drive my plan is to leave Sunday evening at 7:00 pm arrive around noon I'm also planning to stop at Conneaut Lake Park because it's 40 minutes away and I can't check in till 4:00 pm then go sleep for the night and Tuesday plan to stay at Cedar Point for the day. -

Would we also see the Looping Star Ship re tire the same year as Excalibur? The Looping Star Ship sits on prime land for the next water park expansion. By removing Looping Star Ship and taking out the volley ball courts and an idea is to re locate the Soak City enterance and move it over by were the two black gates are by Mad Mouse. There you will have room for a tornado bowl and a matt racer. One thing I like them to keep is Raging Rapids its my favorite water ride at Soak City. -

Screamscape is reporting that Valleyfair wants to get approval for Long term planning expansion. According to the notes from the Shakopee City Council they have recommended approval for Valleyfairs future expansion and the wetlands replacement plan which is also approved by the Army Corp of Egineers apperently. This is 5/19/2017. Does this mean that the plan is approved and we most likely will see that Excalibur should be its last year? I think this will finally get a green light biggest investment that Valleyfairs history. -

I was at Valleyfair for a couple of hours. The park open today at 9:30 am early first time I've seen that. My first ride was North Star. I was the only one on North Star was fun having the entire ride to my self. An idea I came up with could they move the Ferris Wheel and put it in between Flying Eagles and North Star? If they did that in the future for land space they could remove The Wave and re do the enterance/exits lanes and have it face towards Power Tower and you would have land space for a new roller coaster possibly have it rap around Corkscrew and Power Tower be a area were you can put new roller coaster for future land space not to mention Dino area for the B&M inverted coaster. Also idea they should move the Soak City water park entrance move it over by Mad Mouse were the two black gates are and remove Looping Star Ship and take out the volley ball courts there you will have more land space for the Soak City water park expansion possibly put a tornado bowl and a matt racer there. -

Its finally here. Happy opening day . I can imagine what the lines will be like for North Star this weekend. 75/90 minute wait times on season pass preview day. Finally we have a nice weather day for opening weekend seem's like the past opening weekend's it's always has rain a lot. I'm really looking forward to the fast lane season pass this year invest in something that's worth buying along with the new drink plan season pass add on. Every 15 minutes get a free drink refill at any coke self serve stations. I spoke with some management on season pass preview day along the way to Renegade ask about what's coming in 2018? They said they already have plan's in place. Any guess's what's coming in 2018? I don't think it will be a off season or park improvement's. -

75/90 minute wait. When I got there at noon be the line was full by 1:00 pm. For those who visit regularly I would buy the fast lane season pass I gave that a two thumbs up because with the wait time the line was by Flying Eagles enterance I rode North Star 5 times in a 20 minute wait or less vrs 90 minutes full que line so imagine what the lines be like on opening weekend. Also on Valleyfairs web app it says that (Nice! I think we need to get to send us one of those). I'm wondering if Cedar Point was impressed with the ride I can see them adding maybe a 500 foot star flyer. North Star is my favorite new ride. Also when I was at season pass preview day I spoke with one of the managers on the way to Renegade ask if there were plans for 2018 said something thrilling is coming? So I'm guessing they have plans for something new in 2018? Guesses? But he knows won't say anything of course. -

I just came home from season pass preview day. I like the new security medal detectors. I finally got a chance to ride North Star. It's my new favorite ride. The view from the top is excellent. I would recommend if you visit the park on a regular basis to buy the fast lane season pass because everyone ran to the new ride. The que line filled up real fast. By 1:00 pm the line for North Star was by Flying Eagles. At least hour wait. With the fast lane I rode North Star 5 times in 20 minutes in a hour wait time. Thumbs up for Valleyfair with the fast lane season pass, also walking around the park I notice the new self serve Coke stations I like that with the new drink plan season pass every 15 minutes free refill. I meet up with Renegade Mike did a few laps on Renegade like the new seat belts running great. Also on the way to Renegade I meet up with one of the park managers who sees me there a lot. I ask what the plans were for 2018 season said something thrilling is coming but of course won't say. -

Lets hope for good weather on season pass preview day and opening day as well. It rain last year. From watching the North Star Pov. Is it possible to put a giant Frisbee in the midway stage area? Were the old scrambler's spot use to be? I think it would be cool to add a Frisbee right next to North Star in front of the park. -

I would be in favor of a frisbee replacing Rip Tide the location would be great because it's right by Xtreme Swing and Power Tower. I stopped by Valleyfair today to pick up my platinum season pass got a first look up front at the new ride North Star. Getting excited to ride it on season pass preview. North Star from the main lot. The LED lights are on. -

How long does it take to do 100 test runs on all 3 trains? Also with the new add on drink plan season pass $29.95 cup refill. Are there going to be self serve Coke stations around the park how does this work just scan your pass and get the cup? I like this idea free refill every 15 minutes all day no more small cups with water for the all day dining pass. -

How many test runs does Wild Thing have to make before it can actually open? I looked on the web app said it made the first test run of the season. Would the new improvements make it better and faster to run a 3 train operation without stacking up the trains or does that depend on the ride operator crew on how fast they load and unload the trains? Would they ever run 3 train operation does it have to be a really busy day with long lines to run all 3 trains? Season pass day is less then two week's away . -

Is Cedar Fair getting new web pages getting new designs? So far I've only seen two new one's Cedar Point's and Carowind's. Also would anyone like to see any live park web cam's? I don't think Valleyfair has ever had any live web cam's before? -

I was just wondering would anyone like to see the LED lights turned back on the towers on Power Tower? Just because I think it would look really cool with the LED lights on the new ride North Star. Having both on would really light up the park at night. Have the LED lights on like Cedar Points Power Tower. Is there some reason why the LED lights aren't on Power Tower? -

I will be renewing my Valleyfair platinum season pass on Friday. I will also be doing the 2017 season pass fast lane this season. It's Valleyfair's 2nd season doing this. I was wondering when you buy the platinum season pass along with the 2017 season pass fast lane is that good at all Cedar Fair park's with your platinum season pass or just Valleyfair only? Would you be able to do the 2017 season pass fast lane at Cedar Point? Just wondering because I will be making a trip out to Cedar Point in June. -

Rip Tides location would be a good choice for a frisbee. The location would be great because it's right next to Xtreme Swing and Power Tower flat ride section of the park. I would like to see Rip Tide be replaced with a giant frisbee something like a max air. -

Are there going to be any more ride retirement's for this season? I would personally like to see a giant friss bee like a Max Air for 2018. One thing I would like to see Valleyfair get is a front gate wing coaster in the Dino area and a remodel of the front plaza something like Carowind's and new parking toll lane's like King's Island got a year ago. Anyone think it's time for Valleyfair to get new parking toll lane's? Upgrade? With a the new GM I can see another new thrill ride for 2018 be my guess.
