Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

I have also been to the park almost every single day this year so far. One of the areas they could expand is the midway games area. The games area is almost dead every time I've visit the park. They could take out the left side of the midway games and put a nice size RMC RailBlazer there. Rip Tide section of the park and move the lift hill down more by bumper cars and perhaps run the track up towards the front of the park by the midway stage area or rap it around The Wave. You have plenty of space there on the Rip Tide side of the games area for a new coaster even a B&M could fit there to. Of course the other area to expand would be in the Dino area and my dream is to have a B&M Banshee with a new remodel front gate plaza like Worlds of Fun got. I visited there a week ago and there new plaza area looks nice. I also really think Valleyfair needs new modern shops and a new guest service building, new restroom with a new front plaza that's been there since 1976. I've also heard from a few people in the park it might be a couple more years before Valleyfair gets a new coaster. I'm going to say possibly water park for 2020 season maybe new park improvements. -

Earlier in the year Excalibur and Thunder Canyon opened at 11am I believe towards the end of June I noticed they started to closed two hours early I heard from a Renegade team lead it had to do with cutting back on budget. Now the back of the park is open noon till roughly 8pm closes two hours early every day now I don’t think it has to do with empty trains on Excalibur because I’ve also seen Renegade running two trains almost empty sometimes more so has to do with budget. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread
Lightning Rod replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I’m planning to go to Carowinds for the first time ever on July 15-18. I’m sure this gets ask a lot but I’m wondering what the crowds are like on a Tuesday Wednesday Thursday? One of the three days I’m there I’m planning to do the water park in the morning then dry park in the evening also was wondering is fast lane plus needed for the water park and the three days I’m going? Also any good hotels to stay close to Carowinds? Currently I’m planning to stay at Sleep Inn on Lakemont Boulevard 0.5 miles from Carowinds for two nights was $156.00. I’m driving close to 18 hours. I’m going for Fury 325 and Copperhead Strike I’m also a Platinum pass holder. -
Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

I went to Worlds of Fun for the day. I left Valleyfair on Tuesday this week at 11am for a day trip. It was a nice drive on 35W south. I got to Worlds of Fun about 6:15pm check in the motel 6. I stayed at the Motel 6 Kansas City North in Randolph guess you get what you pay for short drive from WOF next year I’m going to stay at Worlds of Fun Village on sight. Once I check in I went to the park for a few hours in the evening light crowds. My first ride was on Patriot nice quite B&M not as forceful but definitely was the highlight of the trip next went over to Timber Wolf nice first drop kind of shaky and loved the over bank turn. After Timber Wolf went over to Prowler it wasn’t as bad as I thought had few rough spots before the lift. After Prowler went to Boomerang that was my first Boomerang I sat in the front row had a 5 minute wait. I walked over to Mamba did a few laps sat on the left side got a nice view of Kansas City sky line then I rode Steel Hawk at night only got to ride it once because it was down most of the time I was there. On Wednesday I did Oceans of Fun in the morning few hours then in the afternoon I did some more rides and they do have a nice selection of flat rides one thing to help there coaster line up would be a launch. Also the park could add some AC buildings specially when it gets hot. This was my second visit to WOF almost everything was a walk on I did buy a fast lane plus the only thing with that was not one person check? Next time I going Im planning to stay on sight and I was very impressed with the park. I left at 7pm in the evening and got back to Minnesota around 1:30 am thumbs up with Worlds of Fun! -

Anyone know when Space Shot on Power Tower will be ready? Maintenance still working on it? The gondola is not even on the tower yet. -

Preview night was great, The weather wasn't that bad either. The park really looked nice from the off season improvements. One thing I saw on Power Tower this year Space shot wasn't even on the tower yet? Probably still getting some work done? Anyone know? Also something new on Power Tower you have to push down to open the restraints and I felt you were more snug on the seats this season. Rode High Roller saw the new track improvement and the new stage by Corkscrew looks really nice. -

Regardless what happens 2019 season is finally here. I’m going to preview night and opening weekend looking forward to the improvements that the park made during the off season. And it’s going to be interesting to see what happens in the Dino area. -

Valleyfair just got a new web app. They now have ride wait times which is nice to see. I'm looking forward to see what the new toll booths will look like. I'd like to see a separate lanes one for gold and one for platinum pass holders and two lanes for regular traffic and one lane for RV's and busses something like Kings Island has. These small improvements could possibly mean something big in the next few year's. It's nice how there keeping the park fresh. -

Just wondering to I’m driving 14 hours from Minneapolis to Sandusky does Hotel Breakers allow early check ins? I also made a request to stay on the 3rd or 5th floor. I have a Lakeview 1 King size bedroom suite. Is Hotel Breakers good with guest requests? I know in my resorvation requests are granted but not guaranteed? -

I made my reservation for July staying at Hotel Breakers. I’m going for 3 nights, 4 days. I got the Lakeview Suite with a King Bed, 1 sleeper sofa and two TVs cost me $969.17 taxes fees were $117.50. But what also saves me money I already have a platinum season pass with the all day dining plan and drink plan. I’m doing the easy pay room with 6 payments is $161.00. This is my third time staying at Breakers I like the convenience of staying on property and location. -

I went to Valleyfair on Thursday I was stuck on the right lane on 101 about 5:30 pm there was already a line on 101 waiting to get into the park then about 7:00 pm there were lines of cars back up all the way from 169 and all the way on 101 from downtown Shakopee coming from the west side. I'd say it was a busy Thursday night for MEA and the weather was nice to low 60's. And I hate to say it but there's only one more weekend left it's already closing weekend 26, 27 and 28 . -

I’m curious how did the knife get through the medal detectors or pass security? After last night I would think they would have more security and police officers at the park the rest of the Valleyfair/Scare? -

I don't think they'll remove The Wave it's popular on hot day's and we only have two water ride's The Wave and Thunder Canyon. The Dino area will possibly be the spot for the next coaster I did a walk through the other day there's a tone of space back there and the old picnic ground's they can use that area for future expansion I could see them possibly remove The Wave and bring back the Log Flume there's a lot of space right by Corkscrew. I think if you bring back the Log Flume would have more ridership vrs The Wave? -

I just got home from Valleyfair today again the rides went down for two hours for lightning but it wasn’t even raining around Valleyfair the storms were south east today. But lightning was within 5 miles from the park. When the rides went down around 4:30 everybody went to the restaurants to eat with long lines but I’ve seen that many times this year. -

I go to the park every day I have the fast Lane season pass I spent two hours each day with the fast lane and it’s nice to have during the school days it can get crowded at times. I would suggest making a investment in buying the fast lane it’s worth it during the school days. -

Delirious was open a few times when I went opening weekend I’m curious if it will have some downtime because it was also closed for a while or it’s still working out the bugs? I got to ride it twice opening weekend. -

I also have a fast lane question. I’m going to Cedar Point July 9 through the 13 and I’m staying at Hotel Breakers. I’m a platinum season pass holder so for the four days I’m there should I go get the fast lane plus? Curious how the crowds are like during the week after the 4th of July weekend? They also have a platinum pass holder ride night on Tuesday July 10 when I’m there on Steel Vengeance would that be the good day for a fast lane plus and is that event ERT after the park closes? -
