  1. You could have just used Google Maps to measure the tunnel. Vortex supports are about 12 feet on center, the tunnel is spaced between three supports (24ft), and the tunnel for SheiKra is about 22 feet wide.
  2. Maybe I'm missing something, but with a Graeter's inside the park, why would you want to eat any other ice cream?
  3. Ohio Department of Agriculture is in charge of all Fairs and Amusement properties. The Dept of Ag has no overtime requirement. This also applies to Movie Theaters and Arcades. Maybe that $1 per hour bonus needs to be inflated the way minimum wage has been inflated. At $6/hr +1 is a >15% bonus, and at $9/hr +1 its a <10% bonus. It's not as attractive. Maybe bump the bonuses to $1.50? And for those that say they aren't offering them. I've heard they still offer the bonuses for May and Sept/Oct. But yes, more incentives could help attract some of those locals away from the other businesses in the area.
  4. There is a percentage of those people who are getting unemployment benefits for not working. I get some need disability benefits, but there are many who could work a 20 hour week to help alleviate the park but the park doesn't seem to schedule 3-5 hour long shifts.
  5. Short answer: Yes. As someone who employees low-wage seasonal help, the applicants are: 1. Not very motivated to work 45% 2. Have priorities outside work 45% 3. "Fight for Fifteen" 10% With that said, if you can hire more of #2 and be flexible with staffing, the effects of #1 and #3 are limited. With a semi-isolated location like Cedar Point, hiring "more" people who work "less" hours may not be very practical. When you literally have thousands of employees living on the property, you want them working so they aren't idle in the dorms, possibly causing damages. When you hire employees locally that do not need housing, you might get away with more flexible hours, but you are also competing with the market infrastructure that has developed because of your own business. Years ago, Rt 250 didn't have nearly the number of businesses it does now; and those businesses are definitely deterring locals from working at the park. Now, I personally do everything I can to keep my employees happy without having to pay them more (which I need permission from the owners anyways.) So I offer them different incentives and am extremely flexible with the hours they work. We also offer them perks that they can use when they are not working, or to invite friends or family to join them. If the different park operations divisions can work out the flexible scheduling, maybe they can offer things like: Free Admission for you and a guest. Half price on all food and drinks. Discounts on all shop items and Fast Lane. Maybe offer incentive prizes (gift cards, bonus hours, free food.) Etc. Would this work? I'm not sure. I would need more details into the hiring pool and staffing coverage required for minimum, normal, and maximum operations. --- PS- Can we please keep the politics out of the discussion?
  6. Elephant Ear - basically the same thing.
  7. Sounds like you were there while they were training people. Operations are usually slower so the new people can pay attention to each step. At least, that's how it goes when we train new people at work.
  8. That's where I usually go for my Platinum Fries deal. Probably because I don't spend much time down by the main midway.
  9. Yesterday. We were talking about it yesterday. Still getting serious responses too.
  10. Nah... they'll just complain about the trims on the turnaround.
  11. They still have a Sky Ride station back there. Just need to run the cables!
  12. Weren't we already doing that with GateKeeper (and other wing coasters)? I mean, I consider a night time ride in the front on The Beast as a credit different from a daytime ride in any other seat.
  13. Whatever it is, definitely don't go in 2019 because they won't have anything big that year. Actually, I don't think anyone should go in 2019. The park should just take a year off and prepare for 2020.
  14. Dang, I was hoping FL+ would wait until 3 trains were running.
  15. That's exactly my point. Just show a generic wooden structure with a ? above it.
  16. it was on the shirt last year too. . LOL. . they do it on purpose That [ ? ] block should have been something that resembles the Mean Streak/ Steel Vengeance structure with the ? above the block.
  17. Ignorance does incredible things to people. Nothing has proven you right.
  18. Hear that Cedar Point? Bring back the ferries to the mainland! Then you can build a parking structure there and build more rides in the parking lot!
  19. Hey man, you forgot about that tunnel... black out... idea from earlier!
  20. It's Cedar Point... They need high capacity rides. They already have high capacity rides. But this ride is quite different than the high capacity coasters that have 3 or more train operations at the park. 1) This is the first modern roller coaster they have refurbished that's old, and wasn't started from scratch. RMC and the park had to work with what they had. This is quite a bit different than B&M or Intamin flattening an entire area of the park and starting with a clean slate. 2) There was no room for an unload/transfer-to-loading and/or doubleloading station like Millennium and Maverick/TTD (respectively). 3) If they planned on running 3 trains, they would have probably done it on opening day with the huge crowds they had, or atleast it would have been seen testing a couple times running that way. It has never been seen doing 3 trains testing, and if they ain't doing it testing, they ain't doing it with people on board. 4) I get it, you're an enthusiast. High capacity rides give you a nice big coaster boner. I used to get them too. But consider: it is much more reasonable and practical for SteeVen to have 2 trains running with no stack, while also having a train sitting in the transfer if something goes wrong with the other two. As we know, RMC trains are quite finnicky. Having a fresh train ready to go if one goes down is better than running 3 trains, having one go down, and then quite possibly having another go down with no fresh backup. Because then the park is right back where they have been for the past 3-4 weeks at 1 train operations, with a full crowd, in the middle of summer. It's NOT THAT BAD having one coming in to the final brake run with the other on the lift, and not stacking while the other one loads. YES, I agree, 3 trains would increase capacity by a little bit, but all things considered, with the ride dimensions and RMC train issues, it just make no sense running with 3 trains. I'd bet the Cavs winning the Finals before I bet 3 train ops on SteeVe with passengers. And I want the Cavs to win. The 3rd train didn’t have enough cycles to operate with riders. It was designed and planned for 3 trains. I’m not sure where you get off thinking any of what you said was true.
  21. Can't I just use my Drone? I really doubt the midcourse is doing anything except bleeding excess speed on these warmer days.
  22. There was a way to save Maverick's heartline roll, too.
  23. Doing some rough estimation on Google Maps, it looks like most (non-B&M) final brakes are between 80 and 160ft. Not sure where SV matches up, but the shorter end is the brake after the last tunnel on Magnum.
  24. Quoted for emphasis. In case anyone missed it. --- Also, today it looked like SV was entering the midcourse much faster than during preview week. I bet those trims only look hard because of the extra speed on the approach.
  25. Lots of people go to parks alone. Lots of people go to movies alone. The only person that notices or cares that you're there alone, is you. Everyone else is preoccupied with their own situation.
