It's real. It's just not from this year. Although, I can see them reusing it this fall. -

Looks like they are getting ready to start working. -

It may be easier to build with steel on this terrain, and in a way that keeps the footprint narrow for better tree interaction. (And night rides.) -

Agreed! Lightning Rod was closed when I was there last year, and I still had a great time! -

I've been doing this ride speculation thing for about 15 years. I enjoy putting together the little bits of information that come out. From the permits we know: 1. Steel structure wooden coaster, with GCI style foundations 2. Main out & back section of the course runs 19.8° NNW 3. Plan view of the track covers a total length of 3250 ft (without elevation adjustment) 4. Station length near 55ft and transfer shed near 65ft. Both GCI standards. Things we do not know: 1. Location of the loading station 2. Interaction over/under train tracks 3. Height, speed, possible inversions 4. Site plans and area development in Rivertown -

Vortex isn't very good. It's metal, but it's really rough for some reason. -

I used the coordinates of the highlighted area to scale and rotate the ride. Keep in mind that if the paper was tilted or curled when photographed, it will skew a little. But the straight section is pretty much dead on with the angle those coordinates give us. -

That's a good question. I still think it will be a new "midway" with access to WWC and the coaster. One path bridge over the tracks, and the other crossing near the current WWC entrance path. As for orientation, the drawings confirm this running approximately 340°/160° -

Alright. So I moved the layout North and West so the abutment crosses the train tracks near the highlighted area of work. I aligned the drop with the end of RFYLCB, which puts the station right up next to the theater, and surrounds the loading station for ACE. -

Gatekeeper has great capacity and is off in the corner. It doesn't really have time to build a line. Raptor is right by the front gate, so people ride it because it's right there. -

My two concerns with removing the log ride for the station are: 1. Crossing the train at low speed, twice. 2. Interference with WWC and crossing the train again. Another note is that I think CF has had a lot of site planning and isn't going to install a coaster without updating the area around it. -

And this is why I am always waiting in line back there. Hey guys, move to the 2nd row of the back car. I don't want to wait behind you. -

Sorry I posted from my phone. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] And with that, and further analysis of the abutment plans, I have updated my scale and orientation. Location is still up for debate. [i also used SketchUp, so it's not as polished as a Photoshop overlay.] -

If they announce the date next week, you will know by Friday which day they would announce it. Unless they say nothing next week, and we find out after that. -

Well, they are obviously giving out cryptic clues. Between the "Rocky" quote and this, anyways. I wouldn't be shocked if they kept teasing "RMC" hints, even if it's not RMC. The enthusiast group eats this stuff up. -

Now if that isn't an attempt to say "barrel roll on the new ride" I'm not sure what they are doing... -
Dory wasn't quite as solid as Toy Story 2, but was easily better than Monsters University (and Cars 2, ugh)

I can tell you this much, back in May I invited my family to come with me and found out 2 days prior that it would be a discounted weekend. I haven't seen anything posted with advance notice of dates for things like that. -

They could be building a whole new area over there with access to the new ride and WWC. -

It looks like there is a pretty steep grade to the south of the reservoir that results in the bridge the train crosses over near the WWC entrance. But I haven't ridden the train since the Haunt about 3 years ago, so I'm not 100% certain of the grade of the land in the area. Edit: The abutment can be seen pretty clearly in the overview. I wonder if that is for a train crossover? It would make sense. -

I hate to quote my own post, but after seeing the scale listed on the detailed closeup of the "area of work", I converted that to a full scale for the ride and what I have here is actually pretty close to the scale provided on the permits. So, we know scale and orientation. Now we need confirmation on location.
