  1. Parts of the old security checkpoint are still standing. But the actual working bit is all-new. There are just two new scanners than you walk through without removing anything from your pockets.
  2. I think that was speculation on the forum because of the hint that said they couldn't wait to see it at night. So we expected lighting to be involved.
  3. The park has tweeted out their new sign. I expected a place for updates but this is definitely clean.
  4. You know I never considered the prospect that some of those early attractions would be possible to bring back in some capacity during the 50th anniversary celebration.
  5. Employee insight within what they're allowed to share is always great and appreciated My speculation isn't necessarily making requests either. The only time I've ever made a request, even jokingly, was when a park manager took my order at Fowl Ball and when they asked what I wanted I said "a hyper would be nice". I really do genuinely wonder if such an upgrade supported by the manufacturer is remotely viable. I'm not using the word possible here because anything is possible even if it might require new rolling stock. But if it costs $5 million that wouldn't be viable, even for relocations of a LIM coaster (where you'd have to reinstall everything all over again so labor cost wouldn't really impact an upgrade). I think I'd be fine with Titan Track in high wear areas of Eagle to keep her young longer. Though I'm not aware of any particularly high-wear locations. Reviews suggest Titan Track doesn't feel significantly different the way RMC track does.
  6. I mean let's be real. It's pointless for us too
  7. The old fin-based LIMs HAVE to be on straight track, and to be compatible with the existing power delivery and control systems it's not super likely the guts of the fin LIMs are significantly different now than 20 years ago. You can see the newer LSMs mounted on hills (as well as magnetic brakes) in this Ice Breaker photo. And yes I realize this is a pointless discussion
  8. I was indeed thinking new LIMs in the valleys would work. The new ones don't need to be on straight track. I was just thinking out loud. I know it'd be pretty expensive but replacing these old model LIMs when they need it probably ain't that cheap anymore either.
  9. I'm kinda shocked Premier hasn't developed an retrofit package for their first gen LIM coasters to allow the usage of one of their newer systems. Though obviously that'd cost money, wouldn't be free. But I imagine the newer design is more reliable and cheaper to operate. No to mention boosters could be added in other parts of the layout and removed from the spike. And Shazam itself is fine. It's that canopy that's been looking rough for some time.
  10. The park linked the 50th Anniversary festivities on social media. https://www.sixflags.com/stlouis/events/50th-anniversary
  11. I concur with the Eagle improvements, but they wouldn't be cheap. Wouldn't that basically require rebuilding the entire station? I'd also love to see new chasers return - enough so that I tried calculating the hardware cost a few pages back. Labor would be the major cost there. There are floodlights in use during Power Hours but I don't think they've lit everything that once was. Edit: In regards to food service. The problem is chain-wide. I agree they need to fix it - but I'm not going to let it stop me from recognizing the positive things they're doing this year.
  12. It may have been removed right around the time the cotton candy stand opened. There's very little room between it and where the ropes were. There were trampolines on the opposite side of the plaza before the stand as well I believe and that also would have made the plaza a bit crowded if they were there with the Batmobile in place.
  13. I mean other than the other dozen major park improvements, yeah, I'll take all the victories I can get. You live really close to one of the few parks Six Flags is opening a new ride at in 2020/2021. Life isn't so nice at the parks that aren't tier one.
  14. The last video in this article is the Batman segment. https://fox2now.com/am-show/tims-travels-friday-night-six-flags-power-hours/ Spoiler: [removed the spoiler - don't want to rob KTVI of the views and clicks] - It's awesome and we've been asking for this for years. I love everything the park has done this year.
  15. Why do I get the feeling this is a hint. Is the Batmobile returning? Because oh my god...
  16. Parking is now an add-on for season passes. A one-time $80. There is no gold pass level anymore. I'm not sure why you're so resistant to the membership though - it actually comes out cheaper especially at the current pricing. You just can't prepay.
  17. The member home park list is definitely longer.
  18. An arch integrated into a sign isn't unheard of.
  19. I think we'd all love that. Don't think that's going to happen though. They're playing up the St Louis bit of the name now more than ever.
  20. Now that we know what it is. I wonder what the new one looks like
  21. I don't think you do this stuff for a rollercoaster or anything. Some of this is addressing deferred maintenance from the bankruptcy era, and the rest is probably beautification for the curtailed 50th anniversary celebration.
  22. I mean. If I was going to install new lighting I'd probably repaint before attaching new hardware - you're already up there working on the structure, two birds with one stone. The old system didn't get a full overhaul or anything, and the pumpkin was never replaced. Not that I seriously think that's what is happening, but only certain things stick out driving on I-44. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  23. They already cleared those trees though. I was also thinking sign or lot. A new LED matrix board would certainly qualify as something that one would want to especially see at night (and would make the removal of the trees super necessary to get the most bang for your buck). Otherwise the only really recognizable thing from the highway at night is Colossus?
  24. MOST of the museums in STL are free. Which is really nice. You can walk through the Science Center, Zoo and Art Museum (even History, but it's really not in the same league as the other three I mentioned) all for free. No none of them are the absolute best, there are paid facilities that hold those honors for obvious reasons, but they're all really good without having to add the "for a free museum" qualifier. Edit: The Fair St Louis site seems to be down right now I wonder if they're doing an major update on it. Edit2: Nobody drove by the park tonight?
