  1. If the ride is going vertical right now that puts it well ahead of any sort of flat ride schedule in recent memory. At this point if it is still a May open it'll be due to the new area that needs constructed and whatever the new Eagle queue ends up being.
  2. All I want to say is a removal of HITP is really hard to reconcile with season passes getting more expensive than Cedar Fair. Those new prices are insane for what Six Flags is (currently) as a chain. Reducing the number of operating days and removing a premium holiday event reduce the value for money proposition - to add higher prices to that is to put it mildly a questionable strategy. Removing park presidents that have been making the kind of capital improvements that'd justify price increases is also worrying.
  3. It was indeed the correct call and kept the most people safe. Active rotation didn't pass too far north of the park either.
  4. I guess they figure 3 hours of normal operation isn't worth it.
  5. Only a couple rides closed now that were open previous seasons. Nice to see.
  6. Wanted to get out there this weekend but the warden said no.
  7. Well technically one coaster. The indoor wild mouse is open
  8. I don't think the list is complete. At all. They really won't operate a single flat ride outside of Bugs Bunny National Park? Not one? That's hard to believe. Gotta think there's zero chance Colossus will be closed.
  9. This feels like an incomplete list given how spread out the non-kiddie rides are. I bet it ends up a bit longer. I find this acceptable. Makes sense. With the rest of the area getting attention it would have suck out like a sore thumb.
  10. They're going to have to step things up in every other respect if they want to compete with Winterfest head to head. Even at the most basic level of just looking at operating hours Cedar Fair provides more time after dark. And their parks celebrate New Years by actually being open when the new year hits. HITP is not as good as a seasonal event all by itself - but it's never mattered to me because Six Flags was dedicated to keeping those rides running. I can't go to Kings Island and ride Banshee or Diamondback during the winter - but I can certainly go to Great Adventure and ride Batman and Nitro (well maybe not this year - we'll see).
  11. There is precedent for the park not being open the two weekend between Fright Fest and Holiday in the Park. This was what they did the first year for HITP. Yeah it's a reduction but I suspect the numbers just weren't great for it anyway.
  12. Real bummer if true. I'll be calling to see if I can pause my membership or something if this comes to pass. If I wanted to only see lights in a theme park I'd go to Worlds of Fun. The near full ride collection being open is Six Flags' signature winter trait.
  13. The park literally got a brand new entrance plaza last year. That definitely wasn't cheap.
  14. How'd they make this 300ft longer than Jersey Devil? Move the brake run?
  15. Eagle is really well maintained and has a good amount of new track work right now. I very much wish every Six Flags could have the level of woodie maintenance we have. Even Boss is managed as well as it can be given the intensity level (there's a reason most of the big intense woodies have been RMC'd at this point - they tear themselves up). You're not crazy Eagle was really good in 2021.
  16. Eagle is indeed missed. But given the fact one of the forgotten corners of the park is getting a complete overhaul it might be worth it. Just hope it doesn't end up looking like the spartan simple Supergirl area.
  17. While retracks, repaints and new trains do seem to be trending only the repaints seem to be happening in the Six Flags chain with regularity at the moment (outside of Fiesta Texas - then you completely overhaul the queue with all-new theming along with a repaint). Sounds like SFOT Freeze is getting a paint scheme much more similar to ours. Remember when we all thought Blue Hawk meant Six Flags might overhaul their old Arrows and Vekomas across the chain? Good times
  18. I notice they even poured concrete connecting the pad to the Moon Cars track.
  19. Lighting has always been one of my favorite parts of Fright Fest. But I do believe they've upped their game to at least some degree this season. Figured I'd get a shot of the concrete pad Moon Cars' loading platform turned into. Wonder what they're planning for this. Edit: Nice to see Mine Train get some love for Fright Fest.
  20. I dunno the concept seems alien to me. Edit: Dangit castaway
  21. Yeah that one isn't in use. And I was wrong there's only 3 mazes - my point stands they're all better for it because staffing is fine.
  22. For the record that maze is WAY better than the last Camp Killamore attempt. The only time that was ever decent was when it used Hurricane Harbor facilities. I'm actually fine with there only being 4 3 mazes this year, staffing is seems fine to run 4. I was at Great America this weekend they have 6 mazes - in two cases I literally only saw 1-2 scare actors. And that's in a top tier park. Plus the Gates of Hell maze was just awful in general - they absolutely should have scrapped that one and had that staff spread out in the other 5 and it would have made the remaining mazes better. The 6th maze isn't helping spread the crowds out - almost nobody entered the Gates of Hell anyway (word gets around guys).
  23. I don't think The Boss is a better ride since the reprofile. Most of the punishment for me was always in the opening salvo anyway. But I also don't see the maintenance balance sheets. Maybe it's cheaper to maintain now - which would itself be a benefit for the park. The cost of the reprofile would have me believe any more significant changes will still take quite a while to come. Similar to Timberwolf also getting a helixectomy I believe this signals neither Missouri park is expecting major revamp work on either woodie for quite a while. Both parks need an additive coaster more than a replacement anyway.
  24. I'm not excited just poking fun at the idea that it'd be a letdown. That's what SF does for higher end parks than ours.
