  1. The only part of this layout tall enough to clear the train is the lift hill. And considering there's a helix right next to the lift hill this cannot cross the tracks. There's plenty of room next to The Boss to do anything really.
  2. Took care to get the scale super close. It might actually fit across the tracks without moving Boss' queue. Would certainly offer an interesting view of the lift hill. The only way it works on the Dragon Swing site is if you completely remove the entire new concrete plaza. And if you do this you ruin any chance of using the area the go karts were on - and even still it only works if you build over the water.
  3. I checked the dimensions using Frida as the baseline and the footprint length-wise is 250ft or so. There's less than 225ft available between the tent and the tracks - and that's a really narrow point. The main part of the layout is 70ft wide and at the point where that'd fit you're barely over 150ft available. This has to be across the tracks - and honestly they probably have to change Boss' queue too to get this to fit.
  4. I'd think if this was using the land Dragon Swing is on that'd have to be torn down by now, or at least very very shortly. If it actually is going in right there though that would potentially open the area between it and Boss up for one or more additional rides. Potentially a small family area? Something like a NebulaZ would work in an area like that.
  5. A Vekoma? I see you Six Flags. I'm excited for what this means in the future... for other parks in the chain. Looks like this will be the first 247m (and this is a newer model in the family) Junior Coaster model going to North America. The other notable install is Frida at Energylandia (besides the ton in FECs in Asia).
  6. Huh. Now that you mention it I haven't received a Six Flags email in 4 months.
  7. A Giant Discovery doesn't fit the current plot of land. But there is a good amount of space in that general area west of the bathrooms. If you're willing to move the turkey leg smackdown attraction there's probably room if you renovate the entire are with a new midway and plaza. I think it depends on whether or not this is a good manager and if he can bring his own people in below him at both parks. I'd certainly trust someone like Jeffrey Siebert to be able to run multiple parks well.
  8. Screamscape finally picked up on the tweet about a 36" height requirement ride going in to the go kart track area They had to add their own speculation that it's different from the other two 36" height requirement rides being built by the chain.
  9. It's interesting that Blazing Fury received a refurbishment very recently but FITH is getting replaced rather than its own refurb.
  10. Drove by the park today. There's a construction trailer near the fence separating the parking lot and Hurricane Harbor. Definitely seems like they'll be building a separate entrance to HH, and I think some of the work is vertical. I was driving so no photos
  11. I don't see any text on that carousel screen. So we can't really tell if it was just a status update or if that included an ETA from the pic alone.
  12. Hope the seas weren't too rough. I have mixed feelings with Galveston as a port. Especially compared to Canaveral which is just awesome.
  13. What? You don't like Wild Waves? PS: Don't forget Holiday World. And if you expand the drive to 6 hours you have Great America and King's Island.
  14. Paying more is less of a problem if you're getting more. The Six Flags 2022 problem is they wanted people to pay more while receiving less. I'd try justifying the new price point.
  15. Those prices aren't that bad for a commercial quality decoration that people literally sit in. Honestly the saddest part is knowing selling the decorations couldn't have actually made that much money (in comparison to an overall Six Flags-sized budget) now. Is that how low Selim's capex budget was this year? That this relatively small amount of additional income seemed significant and necessary? Honestly Holiday Square, personally, just makes me sadder about losing the event than I was before. Seeing this makes me just want to go further in to the park.
  16. I just don't see how the event could have been unprofitable. Sure, not as profitable as Fright Fest but it did drive crowds. Given the reduced ride count you had a smaller staff too. And they really haven't had to close that many days for it - in the 6 seasons it operated I can only see announced closures for 5 or 6 days. Total. If they kill or probably even increase the cost of my existing memberships I'm out. I even still usually spend money in the park every visit even though we have dining plans.
  17. Crowd levels so low single train ops still result in station waits during Fright Fest? Selim is doing a wonderful job. Good CEO there. Good lord he's going to kill the company.
  18. Looks like the landscaping budget was being saved for fall plants. The park had a fairly light crowd for a Fright Fest on Friday. Finally made it on Catwoman immediately after Freaks Unleashed with ~30 minute line - went right back up to over an hour shortly after so great timing. The ride is great and the crew was chewing through the line was fast as the ride would let them - I was seriously impressed. Didn't ride anything else but it felt like coasters were on one train due to the intervals I saw. As for the mazes. The corn one seems improved this year though it was super under staffed. Slaughterhouse has definitely been changed - cage scene has either been deleted or just wasn't working on Friday, but it was well staffed and the area under the building is being used as part of the maze this year. The Christmas maze is in fact using the Moon Car area - it could use another actor or two but it's actually got potential, the biggest issue is there are two long empty walks during the maze where it really feels like they ran out of time building it out. I liked it better than the SFOG Christmas maze. Oddball's is just sad at this point. Scare zones seem to be scaled back this year though. Only the clown area seems to be full size and staffed. Gnawlins' name change also coincides with like 30 feet less scare zone. The zombies area is WAY shorter but it was moved a bit to where Tsunami Soaker is so at least the bathroom isn't inside the zone anymore. They removed everything from the old UPS van and repainted it, not sure they're even going to use this on busier days or even how they could use it. Also the freaks didn't ride in on the train. Not sure if they just didn't want to deal with wet rails due to the rain or if the train is already down for winter. But it's always a disappointment when they don't have the Freak Train. Other than the mazes being mostly staffed well and having new signs for them the rest of Fright Fest feels scaled back. Like almost to HallowFest levels in the scare zones. I really really hope that's due to Friday staffing, slightly smaller zones can still work if they have enough actors but there were literally only three zombies.
  19. Who knows, sounds like costs are continuing to be slashed around the company including another big round of layoffs. This smells so much like what happened to TWA and Kmart/Sears right now. It feels like they're intentionally running the company in to the ground. A few months ago they had a good CEO and were outperforming Wall Street expectations under him.
  20. No it has been running this season. But it does tend to take a while to get it fixed if something goes wrong (the wonders of owning a one-of-a-kind attraction).
  21. Wonder if they did more track work during the down time? It would have been a good chance to sneak some in.
  22. Not sure about the clock - but the pumpkin wasn't a program. It was literally just additional strings of lights that they only plugged in for Fright Fest. The story is a worker clipped the wires working on something else (maybe fixing the primary light package?).
  23. Didn't they remove one of the sets of stairs to the wave pool to make room for the queue?
