  1. Alpengeist at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, about an hour ago. What a forceful cobra
  2. I was just at KD yesterday. Night rides on Grizzly are great. About the land clearing, nothing has been touched there for a while now, so I don't know why it is being seen as something serious. Someone posted a while back that they were taking grass from there to use for Delirium. Hurler update: Nothing new.
  3. Try your best to give Wildcat a fair and unbiased opinion. It honestly isn't as bad in my eyes as people say it is.
  4. This post combined with your avatar is making my head explode. Also, FRONT SEAT, LEAN FORWARD, HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY THIS? And yes, Grizzly is very solid but we always use that trick which makes it butter smooth. Hurler and Rebel Yell do nothing for me. Both are amazingly mediocre. I knew someone would see my avatar and say something like that. I know it is a very unpopular opinion, but I found Shockwave to be a very solid ride. I'm on the short side, so perhaps that's why it was so nice to me. The track shaping had to be the worst I've ever seen in my life though.
  5. I nearly became a Grizzly hater last weekend. Rode towards the front and got an unbearably rough ride. I was a little upset, and knew that I wasn't doing something right. I rode in 4th to last row, and the ride was very smooth compared to my earlier ride. In fact, all rows in the back 2 cars were rather smooth for a woodie with PTC trains. I believe that it is very underrated. The airtime is great, but I personally love the laterals even more! I rode it 7 times in less than 30 minutes last Saturday, and that really says something, because I am rather sensitive to "rough" coasters.
  6. Is a Vortex relocation a rumor I haven't heard of? You say that with confidence. Not only that, but does Dorney really need another floorless?
  7. Similar thing happened to Intimidator yesterday. Empty train with restraints open on the brake run, and an empty train in the station. Dominator was for some reason running three trains yesterday, which they really shouldn't have done. I'm glad I was there for two days, because yesterday was just a mess. The heat on both days never helped, either. Also got my first rides on Delirium. Fun ride, but arm room is extremely tight. If it wasn't for that, I would've ridden it a lot more than I did.
  8. Park closed due to bomb threat. Anyone surprised? https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/bomb-threat-at-amusement-park-in-prince-georges-county/2016/07/13/2ef2539e-490c-11e6-acbc-4d4870a079da_story.html
  9. Same here, and I completely agree. I still ride it at least once every time I go.
  10. It all depends on height and body type. I don't experience any roughness on it at all. I'm about 5'5" and 120 lbs. Am I more likely to get headbang or not? Here's what I do on Anaconda: Don't ride it. I did find that the back car is the most enjoyable for me, however. Just a heads up, he headbanging on the turn before the final brakes can be brutal if you don't prepare for it.
  11. There have been unconfirmed reports of an enraged man trying to set the coaster ablaze due to the fact it opened. Also around the area has been lots of graffiti that seems to spell out "#ItllNeveropen."
  12. Are you freaking serious? Well, it's just one more thing on the list of things to fix on it... Really losing faith in getting a chance to ride it next month. Doesn't bother me though, I'll just ride Thunderhead all day instead!
  13. Only the best of only two B&M Inverts I have ridden! (Sorry Great Bear...) Talon @ Dorney Park
  14. In my opinion, the Goat Coaster is the best, but you definitely cannot miss the Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster, which seems to be much more popular, for very good reasons. I personally prefer Goat Coaster because I love the seemingly constant turns on it, but SMAC is definitely my second favorite, and I prefer night rides on SMAC to the Goat Coaster. If you have the chance to try both, I would do both, but if you had to pick ONE, go with SMAC.
  15. Thanks! Now I'm curious what exactly was discovered with that part to warrant a recall. Here's hoping it was something minor, like a seal that was wearing out quicker than expected. Yeah, I don't know the specifics, but I heard that the problem was really bothersome for the restraints on Joker, as well as Lightning Rod. Kolmården said that they found no issues on Wildfire, but it's better safe than sorry.
  16. So do we know for sure the status of the trains? So we know that there's a good chance that the train on the transfer track isn't operable. That, or they just didn't bother to put it on, which seems a bit unlikely for lines like that. The train in use, do we know if it has been fixed or not?
  17. because neither train has been repaired on LR or WF. I mean, obviously not? If SFDK is running one train with restraint problems and fixing the other one, then wouldn't the other parks be able to do the same? Because you don't run trains with restraint problems? Mind you, Kolmården haven't found any problems at all with their trains, but they still won't run Wildfire until they get the parts replaced. Always safety first! This was posted earlier in this thread... Have you read the previous page?

  19. I agree. When I was there a week ago, the operators were taking FOREVER on Steel Force, Hydra, Talon, and were even a bit slow on Thunderhawk, but Possessed was dispatching fairly quickly. It was also like this when I went in May. I guess they need to build up lines somehow, right?
  20. Yeah but Dollywood could of done a better job with what they were telling guests. I don't know why it was necessary for the woman when I was there saying the ride manufacturer shut down 11 of their rides and naming other parks some of which don't even have RMCs. I was at Dollywood to ride LR. I don't care what was going on at other parks or with other rides. I also felt like she was talking down to me like I didn't know anything when in fact she obviously knew nothing. Assuming what she said about them closing @ 2PM on Thursday after RMC made the call about the recalled part is true then the park could of done a much better job letting us know as guests. I rode the tram into the park well after 2PM on Thursday and the driver told the whole tram to "Make sure you go ride Lightning Rod" before we got off. When A. the ride was closed and B. they apparently already knew it had no chance of opening for a few days. In the end I went to guest services and they gave me a rain check ticket to return although since I live on the west coast it is not that easy for me to come back. It's just really disappointing. I get that stuff happens and obviously every park puts safety first. But it's June and parks are getting busy with schools out, etc. If they need to change a part I think RMC should be working 24/7 in their factory getting the new one's out and the respective parks, Dollywood in this case should be working 24/7 installing the new ones and doing whatever testing they need to so the ride is open during park hours. I'm not one to complain about complainers, but you have got to be kidding. Nobody, not even RMC, could have seen this recall coming. Yes, it sucks that you live far away, yes it sucks that it is taking forever to open this thing, but it is what it is. I may be going to Dollywood at the end of next month, but I'm not going to write two paragraphs of how I deserve to ride it just because it's closed for a safety reason if it ends up being closed.
  21. Nice! Is it running both trains? Just the green train right now and their restraints are being extremely temperamental. I don't know why they're not opening the purple train because the queue is practically full it's easily 60 + minute wait. Must be something wrong with it. Maybe the recall will reach Joker as well... I assume this IS part of the recall. It would explain why Joker was closed last week, and could explain why they're only running one train (the parts have been replaced on the green train but not the purple train). Didn't even think of that. Makes sense now, but makes me wonder why Wildfire and Lightning Rod aren't running at all if they could run one train and fix the others.

  23. Kings Dominion under a tornado warning. 60 mph winds and two inch hail. Both weather and roller coasters are huge hobbies of mine, but usually I don't like it when the two mix, cause then we get things like this. Hopefully no major damage is caused, except to Hurler maybe... #IronHurler
