What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
Intimidated305 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Last coaster I rode was a traveling wild mouse at a local county fair. It was pretty good, I must say. -
Let the 2017 Canada's Wonderland coaster rumors begin! Fixed Canada's Wonderland vs. Kings Dominion! Who will win? I really hope us Kings Dominion fanboys get one of these fancy new RMC coasters. That is, if Canada's Wonderland doesn't get it first! Or maybe we'll both get one? Maybe Canada's Wonderland will get Shockwave from us and WE'LL get the RMC!

This is exactly what I think. Glad to see someone else sees it the way I do. -

You may not want it, but the GP absolutely LOVED Shockwave. Most of the visitors attended the park in their earlier life, and Shockwave was a part of it. Just because most coaster enthusiasts don't like standups, doesn't mean that other people do not. -

I would honestly love to see it get sold. If it doesn't get sold, then it will end up like it's sister... I would hate to see that happen. -

Heavy fog + roller coaster? Yes please!!! Also, Kings Dominion does have one weird thing that I sort of understand but I think it is kind of pointless. They close Flight of Fear during heavy rain. Not just thunderstorms, but heavy rain. It happened when I went in mid-July. Could that possibly be because of a flooding concern? Water does pond up in that area rather quickly. Anyone know for sure? -

As long as there isn't thunderstorms, you should be fine. Even Volcano doesn't close in heavy rain from my experience! Mark my word, however. I305 hurts like hell in the rain! Anyways, if it's just rain then you will be fine. -
What's causing the U.S Intamin drought?
Intimidated305 replied to fraroc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm sure people thought 400-footers to be sketchy at first, but now they are the crowns of their amusement parks! Don't get too sketchy about it, i'm sure it will be a typical Intamin process: Open > Close for some maintenance issue > Opens again and people love it. Guess we'll just need to wait and see! I don't think he is saying that the coaster itself would be sketchy, rather the reality of the entire project actually getting built in the first place. Yea the coaster itself looks great, but I'm still really skeptical about the entire project I understand what your saying, but i'm just trying to say only time will tell if it will happen. Even I am a little skeptical about it. I think if construction doesn't start by the middle of next year, I just don't see it happening. -

Arrow isn't exactly... existing anymore. Arrow DOES exist, that's the thing. They are owned by the almighty S&S! -

Smart decision on your part.. especially the Knoebels part. Last time I went to Knoebels, I had no idea what flying turns was and I thought it was an abandoned woodie I'm really excited to go back for the first time in several years. Along with Hershey and Knoebels, I may have Dorney in there too. I've surprisingly never been to Dorney despite it's somewhat close proximity to me, so i'm excited for that too! -

This is a thing? When your home park is Kings Dominion, anything is possible... besides thankfulness. My home park is SFA, and nobody I personally know cares about what we get and when. Take one look at KD and it's a whole different story! I really want to get another season pass for KD, but I think it's all Knoebels and Hershey next year for me! While on the topic, just remember KD fans, our coaster droughts aren't as bad as Knoebels'! -

Hang on, what? I would never describe Shockwave as buttery. I consider it to be VERY smooth. It's just that most people (once again, i'm short so Shockwave didn't hurt) couldn't really focus on it being a good ride because of the pain. I wish that more people realized this. It's sort of like how Ricochet's dirst drop is so smooth that it seems like you're gliding in the air, but nobody ever mentions it because it's a small and underrated wild mouse. I know I sound very biased towards Shockwave for some reason, but trust me, I went in the queue expecting my worst steel experience yet, but I came off and fell in love. Also, this was typed on my phone, so sorry for any spelling mistakes! Good night all. -

The only thing it was good for was a shockwave of pain on my soccer balls. I can understand how it could hurt people more than me. I'm short, so I just had no problem with it. I believe that Shockwave was what really kicked off KD, so lots of thanks for that. Also, you gotta admit, even though it hurt, it ran butter smooth, which is the total opposite from one of it's painful wooden neighbors. The last turn and helix entry did it in for Shockwave I believe. But like I said, my short self fit Shockwave quite well (if only it worked the same for Anaconda! ) Will never forget my first stand-up. At least it's replacement will be absolutely amazing though! -

That's an AMAZING story! Take that, Shockwave haters! Hahaha! Love you bunches Shockwave. I know nobody will buy you and you'll end up like your Kings Island counterpart, but I will always remember you! <3 -
What is your favorite Roller Coaster?

Speed + intensity = absolute awesomeness, so either A) Intimidator 305 or B) Skyrush -

I've been thinking of a GCI Hurler replacement for a while now. After riding Thunderhead, I would love to see a similar layout with lots if crossovers and turns. But of course, i'm just wildly speculating based on my personal preference so I don't think it's gonna happen -

The only problem is the invert, dive, and hyper are B&M's best coaster types. And they are B&M's most forceless coaster types. I rode Wild Eagle, and that was very intense for a B&M coaster. I would LOVE to see a wing coaster come to Kings Dominion. Also, there's already a dive and a hyper over at BGW, so I don't think that would be the best choice for the park. I think an invert would be pretty awesome, as long as it isn't forceless! I can definitely see a wing coaster or an invert as KD's next coaster. -

Completely agree with this statement. For whatever reason it was glass smooth when I rode in July. The year before though, it did have a rattle, but barely noticeable and certainly not enough to complain about personally. ^^I feel like the IntaRide coasters like I305 actually should keep the OTSR's, and I think they're a bit necessary. The extremely quick transitions tend to shuffle your torso left and right so it helps to have a restraint that actually keeps your body in place... at least, that's my reasoning. I don't have any statistics to support this but I can't even imagine I305 with lapbars for better or worse. On an unrelated note, I'm glad this thread has finally calmed down from what happened a while ago. I can finally read without cringing I wonder if it's because the first train is used a lot more than the other ones, so it's worn down more perhaps? You might have gotten one of the other ones that aren't used as much. Also, I 100% agree with you on keeping the OTSRs on I305. I wouldn't find it too comfortable if a turn whipped me into the person next to me -

I don't find it even close to being smooth in the back. In fact, it rattled so bad once that it gave me a headache! I love the back row though, the airtime is something unreal in the back. I just wish it was smoother... -

It's the post-MCBR section with the rattle. It is very noticeable in the corkscrews. You can hear the wheels slamming side to side on the rails, which will eventually make that whole section of track unbelievably rough one day because of the wear it causes. In the back row, it's very noticable, while the front row is glassy smooth and you can only HEAR the rattle from the back rows. What you said about how every row being smooth, did you ride the Geauga Lake Dominator or the KD Dominator? I believe it was MUCH smoother before the relocation. -

Dominator is my third favorite coaster at KD, but under I305 and, believe it or not, Flight of Fear. Volcano is my fourth favorite. As I previously stated, Volcano has this odd non-Intamin like rattle to it. Not as bad as Dominators rattle tho Even with the rattle both of the coasters, they are still VERY solid rides. Speaking of rattles, I remember some people calling Shockwave out for being rough and painful, but I found it to be the second smoothest coaster there under I305! Sorry for abruptly changing the topic, but am I the only one who felt like Shockwave was one of Kings Dominions best coasters? I walked on to it expecting the worst, but I gained a slightly obvious addiction to it That helix was just out of this world! -
