Finally. If I had a nickle for every time some negative nancy insisted "it would never happen." Like someone else said, I never gave up on the hope. Stranger things have happened. Too bad it's not getting the retro Gerstlauer/Schwarzkopf train like sooperdooperLooper, but that is a minor complaint. Pigs are flying, hell froze over and I have a reason to return to Magic Mountain!

True! Hard to believe the other Six Flags parks seems consistently worse than Great America. After recent visits to SFOG, SFNE and La Ronde, I still say we have the best park in the chain. In operation, variety of rides, cleanliness... Unfortunately, still WAY below the standards of Cedar Point, and most independent parks.

Major park? I dunno... personally, I hope for more smaller Mom & Pop type places. Coming back after a 10 day coaster trip has reminded me just how much more fun I can have at one of the small places vs. a Six Flags park. Cedar Fair is a step higher in terms of operation and quality (which enables more "fun"), but the little places are just too good.

^You ain't old, come on Maybe a Great Day is just what you need this year! I fondly remember waiting in front of the TV for the Demon commercial... ^note this is the California Demon. You can always tell by the darker/more pointed rocks. then the Eagle commercial in 81 ^note Colossus AND AE in that one! These commercials made the rides look so scary. To me anyway, as a kid.

I remember having a blast at the park in 2005, the year Hades opened. It started getting worse, but was always worth a stop for the holy grail of HOLY S&*T airtime, Cyclops. Even that is ruined now Come to think of it, I remember those gonna-try-to-snap-your-ankle surprise curbs throughout the park... guess that was a sign of things to come! The last time I was there, the park was to stay open until 6. They decided it wasn't crowded enough and closed prematurely at 5. It was also the first time I saw a ride crew not let someone ride who was already in the station queued up for a seat. He was the odd man out on what they decided would be the last train of the night, a TPR member to boot. I could see if he snuck in after the ride was pronounced closed, but that was real low of them. He walked away like a trooper.

Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread

IB has been run directly into the ground by Morgan, let's hope this new company can pull it back up! I miss Indiana Beach! -
Funny you mention that, as CP actually does close at 8:00 tonight, and the rest of this week and next, M-Th! I was at Seabreeze last night until 10pm and also Canobie the other night until 10pm. Both park pass Six Flags by miles in terms of operations. I would even say the amount of pure FUN one can have at these places is many fold that of a SF park. Great America and other SF parks used to be open until 10 in August... but now they figure everone has a cheap season pass. uck. "But it's a buziness!"

Can I ask why? If the ride is "great," then what was so incredibly mind blowing about Cyclone that made it better? I haven't ridden either iteration of the ride, but nothing about the old version looks better than the new one to me. Maybe I'm wrong? I'm sure I'm in the minority of that opinion. I really like Bill Cobb designs; they are full of character and variety. The original first drop was downright frightening. It had the famous Bill Cobb snap to it. I really enjoyed Wicked Cyclone, but I usually prefer classic wooden coasters. Ironically, Thunderbolt is running horrible. I assume it's those new ratchet lap bars that have weighed down the train. Also, seems they don't run two trains anymore, in addition to manual unlock for all the lab bars. I took Bizarro for a spin. The new(er) lap bars hold my knees in and bend my feet out ( I am 6'1"). It's a strange set up, and not very comfortable. And those silly high wraparound head rests it now has. It also seems to have a lot of vibration to it. I didn't get on Goliath in it's old location, and I didn't get on it today. It sure does look great in the middle of the park, though. I'm out of here! On my way to Seabreeze

La Ronde Discussion Thread

Not a big loss for me, I'm usually done with B&Ms after a ride or 2 (unless I'm with friends that want to ride more!). The 2nd track of Le Monstre being closed, now that was a big loss! The ride got faster and faster each time I road it! It went from "good" to "holy cow this thing rocks!!" It got so awesome, I considered changing my plans and heading back to the park today. Le Monstre has a wild design that seems to be amplified by the heavy PTCs. The track hardly has any true rough or bumpy spots, perhaps just the bottom of the 3rd drop. In my book, it's wild like a coaster should be. Bill Cobb would be proud. People were loving it; a couple ride ops also told me they liked it better with the new trains. The teens in Canada seem much better behaved than their US counterparts, way less "acting out." People seem a little more laid back and less stressed in general. Interesting to see a female employee in the male restroom; it shouldn't be a big deal and it's nice to see it's not in Canada. -

Monstre has one side open today, #1. Boomerang and Goliath are also down, Boomerang with train at base of 2nd lift. I like Le Monstre, it has some good kick. Super Menage was also fun, but the aesthetics of it and it's surroundings are downright depressing. Most of the park looks like that There is so much potential ... if the park were in the right hands. I couldn't believe how intense the Batman clone is; perhaps it's the shorter train? I've ridden a bunch of those tons of times, never experienced that level of intensity. Bummer not getting all the "credits." Man I really want to ride track 2 of Le Monstre! Having fun but I'm so glad my home park is Great America. Although also a poorly run Six Flags... well, I have a lot to be grateful for! Going back into to check out some more... Greener pastures at Storyland tomorrow! -

^This, BIG time. Zinger was HUGELY popular, probably the most popular ride in the park. EVERYBODY loved it! It was like the Whizzer, but more rambunctious and with airtime. Matt Ouimet is saying they are going to look all over for "classic" rides. I hope he gets bit by the classic coaster bug... CF has gotten ride of so much fine classic stuff. People love the big new shiny B&Ms, but nothing makes people happy like a Schwarzkopf! -
