  1. Anyone notice any action/work around Revolution? Haven't heard any updates, I'm curious...
  2. ^Fun stuff! I fast forwarded through your video, but it seems like you guys had a great time! What was your favorite ride at Knoebels? I wanna start a special club for people who prefer one of the "other" woodies at some of our favorite parks. Legend, Twister, Wildcat (Lake Compounce), etc.
  3. ^Gotcha. I didn't assume you asked for the back The only time I've been denied certain seats... was at Cedar Fair parks. I don't like to "count heads to get a certain seat," but if I'm desperate, I'll do it.
  4. This is going to sound a little run-of-the-mill, but it did run 2 trains "before you were born" hehe
  5. It's ok to politely ask for a seat. They will usually give it to you.
  6. ^Most importantly, how long are lines for Scorpion? Remembering the 2 train days... will that ever happen again?
  7. It's a good set-up to assign seats as people come in, but also let people wait for the front or back if they wish. It takes a little people skills, which doesn't seem to be a part of ride op training anymore. (Grouping riders is one thing, but you can do that with out telling every person who comes into the station which row to line up for. In many instances where "assigned seating" happens, picking the front or back is out of the question. Some Cedar Fair ride operations will not let you wait for a particular seat. In my experience, SF is much more lenient.) Also, I've seen some SF rides start new procedures with assigned seating, and the trains still stack...
  8. Teehee Yes, sad but true. I have a picture somewhere of Raging Bull on a Saturday July 3rd, with 10 empty seats (and assigning seats isn't a good alternative, but unfortunately the parks like doing that). Having also been at SFNEngland, La Ronde and SFOG this year, I can definitely back that statement up.
  9. That might be stretching it a bit, do you think? I mean, SFGAm capacity was once great, but... As it is now, they get about 1/2 the capacity of comparable rides at CP. Just watch the dispatch times.
  10. ^Gotcha. Will Power Surge be back?
  11. Missing the days when Demon, Whizzer and Eagle had a train dispatch every minute. True story. As poor as the operations are (see the single register in Angelo's? There used to be 4 there), I think we still have the best Six Flags park. I try to keep my visits on weekdays before school lets out, and summer/fall nights after 8pm.
  12. I heard it's getting a "lengthy rehab" and will be back next year. I'm was wondering what was wrong with a few members of the staff at this year's PPP. It was odd to see such CLEAR crankiness (I heard someone refer to it as the "Resting B***h Face"). I mean, if you hate it that much isn't there somewhere else you could work? Supposed I just need to focus on the friendly people.
  13. More thrills on the first drop of Blue Streak than most "big box" corporate parks have combined. I hope something comes through. Look at places like Seabreeze, they had horrible times years ago, and now shine brightly. If Magic Mountain is removing shoulder bars from a coaster after 23 years, anything can happen
  14. I originally thought Magnum, but I changed my mind. It's Demon at SFGAm. Huge points for Devilish Charm. Plus, I know how to ride it now. Demon Midwest! This is where the magic happens. Notice the misaligned track backbone. Demon West had this drop neutered in the 90s.
  15. ^And what a perfect coaster to pick! Did cousin Tony like it?
  16. Finished off PPP last week with about 8-10 rides on Phoenix
  17. I always say if something hurts, ride more coasters! I figure maybe the ride will jostle whatever it is back into place. A good excuse to ride more!
  18. ^Great report and pictures! Sounds like you made out like a bandit with Thunderbird rides. I haven't been to Happy Halloween weekends... I'd be bummed Legend is closed, as it's my favorite in the park, but HW is the kind of place were I'll have fun either way. It's fun to just be there; they make it nice for us! I'm curious about the corn mazes, never been in one myself. How do they manage people getting lost in there? I'm also curious to hear if the park set attendance records this year. Periodically looking at the Splash Cam over the summer, it would appear so!
  19. ^Keep one hand on the lap bar and push forward. I did that starting with my first ride, as I heard they get tighter; I'm what they call "restraint sensitive." Annoying to have to do that, but it's still a fun ride. The one time I didn't push forward, that bar got tighter right away. Let the park know how you feel (politely). I wouldn't be surprised if they make some sort of an adjustment.
  20. ^Yes! It's totally worth $10. A group of us did it last Friday night, it's fun and a great deal. It takes quite a while to get through, a good thing! That type of haunt around here (Chicago) would be over $30.
  21. ^I think Cedar Point breaking records is very un-innovative. It's marketable but narrow and boring. It surely seem to work for them, look at all the folks who rated Millennium Force #1 on Golden Tickets. But I surely respect your opinion; it would be boring if we all thought the same.
  22. I loved reading the piece on Revolution from Roller Coaster Philosophy: http://www.rollercoasterphilosophy.com/tag/revolution/ It's wordy, but so descriptive and really explains the integrity of the design.
  23. ^Well, I hope they get that help! If just a *few* (thousand) more people would visit, I think it could thrive as a small local park. I'm not sure of the details, but didn't they have problems over the years - reputation stuff - and the bad people are gone? If "good people" who care run the place, maybe they can turn it around. Related, here is a behind the scenes picture from the low-budget horror movie "Screampark" (starring Doug Bradley from Hellraiser fame) that was shot at the park: Awesome, huh!? Being a huge fan of 80s slasher/horror stuff, this is just too awesome. A couple coaster friends told me it's not a great movie, which means I would probably like it! There might be a sequel as well, here is the website for the film: http://www.screamparkmovie.com/about-scream-park/
  24. ^That's a good idea! You never know, they could do it in the future. Parks that charge per ride (do they?) usually want to make the rides as awesome as possible so people want to come back.
  25. ^I often say Revolution is one of the most beautiful rides ever built! It's really the ultimate movie star coaster, too! It was always in commercials in the 80s and countless movies/tv shows: Vacation, Zapped!, Rollercoaster, Van Nuys Blvd, Kiss Meets the Phantom, Wonder Woman, etc. You'd think someone has a master list. Up there with Cyclone Racer.
