Theme park Passes Thread
coneyislandchris replied to the ghost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh hey old thread! I actually bought and activated one of the Cedar Fair Platinum Passes when I flew out to California last month -- was doing Knott's while I was out there anyway, so figured I might as well take advantage of it, right? I'm also very strongly considering a Lake Compounce pass as well thanks to the one-two punch of Boulder Dash and Phobia. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Yeah... if that's true, I honestly don't know how I feel about it. I only had one "bad" ride out of four I took on it, but throwing on the soft vest restraint seems like it would take away half of the fun of being wildly ejected left and right. I guess we will see when the ride opens up. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

If you see people outside the "funhouse" (the indoor queue area with the crazy mirrors), it'll be more than 30 minutes. -
Very much looking forward to visiting the park this season. Although I grew up in the immediate area, I haven't been to the park since the days of Hercules and Laser, so it'll be nice to get back, see some old favorites, and check out the "new" additions. I absolutely loved ThunderHawk as a kid, so here's hoping it's running in top shape with the new trains!

We just got back; had a bit of a late start getting out the door today. Didn't hit the road from Queens until 1:15, and then ran into heavy construction traffic on the Belt, so we didn't end up getting to the front gates until a little after 3 PM. As expected, it ended up being a very family-friendly day for us, low-key and full of flats. Ride count: Enchanted Teacups x2 Looney Tunes Carousel x2 Daffy Duck Hot Air Balloons x2 Dining pass x2 dinner Runaway Mine Train x3 SkyScreamer x2 Deja Vu x1 Dining pass x2 snack The Mini-Coney finally definitively crossed over that 44" threshold over the winter break, so we managed to do the 44" inch rides without any complaints or thumbs down from the ride ops this time around. This meant three in a row with him on the Mine Train, after being unceremoniously booted during last year's Fright Fest (after riding it once before). It also meant his first ride (and shockingly mine too!) on this park's SkyScreamer. I've been on the one at SFNE before, and while that one is taller, I feel that Great Adventure's has the edge on location. From its central position in the park, you really get a great view of EVERYTHING, from Ka to Nitro. Needless to say, he loved it! We also got a first in that our youngest, our 1-year-old daughter, went on her first non-carousel ride today with the hot air balloons! She was a bit fussy while getting strapped in, but as soon as we started moving, she was completely enraptured. I think it's safe to say she's definitely following in her big brother's footsteps. Hopefully next time we visit a park, she'll be able to get on more new rides!

... I really don't have anything else to say, I just can't agree with this sentiment enough. -
Quick recap for me: From 10:30 to 2:30-- Kingda Ka: x1 Zumanjaro: x2 Superman: x2 Green Lantern: hell no Runaway Mine Train: x1 Bizarro: x3 El Toro: x2 Nitro: x1 Dining Pass: 1 lunch (grilled chicken Caesar salad) Highlights-- - Having the entire west side of the park open again. Man, I missed these rides! - Spotting Boldikus on El Toro and sharing an awesome, airtime-filled, non-stapled ride on the bull! - Absolutely beautiful weather and a mostly empty park made for great rerideability! Lowlights-- - The totally racist bro-dude I was seated next to on Kingda Ka who felt the need to complain about the slow operations and blamed it all on "Six Flags not hiring Americans, these people can't even understand English and will be gone in 90 days anyway". Ugh. Can people please just keep that crap out of the parks? Overall though it was a great start to the season and was glad to get in some quality riding!

Yeah, looks like I lied. Zumie is up and running after all, and running relatively quick cycles all things considered. Sucks about Toro's valley though, I was really hoping to get some rides in today but I doubt it'll be up & running by the time I have to take off. Guess it's time for Bizarro & the Mine Train!
