Does anyone have a picture of Salt Water Circus in their collections? I bet you can overlay CW Dinosaurs Alive and be surprised at just how much original structure is still there. I looked at Google Maps, chemical, and there is an original building right behind the dinosaurs on the left of the path. This used to be behind the scenes of Salt Water Circus. The blue building with the grey roof is over 38 years old. There is actually a white hose coming out of the door. I bet they still need to pump out the pool when it rains in that area. -

I will be proving this point later, as I have not been to CW this year yet, but I will say this anyway. I believe, the original concrete structure of Salt Water Circus remains intact. I believe they just built our Dinosaurs Alive on top of it. If you try to think about it, the entrance to CW DA, is the original entrance ramp to SWC. Turn right and you walk around the lower part of the grandstand, with the hill on your right being where the seating used to be and the dolphin/sea lion pool is on your left. You walk around on a circular path until you get to the other side of SWC. Another ramp leads down to the children's dig site where the original exit used to be. They have extended the original path to go closer to the Bat and out the exit near the swan boats. Again, soon, I will post some pics to prove my point. Does anyone agree with me? If they were to redevelop that area, they would either leave the original structure in as it stands right now or they would have to do a lot of digging as the concrete structure of SWC is very large. -
I hope I didn't come across sounding too negative. I too think DL is beautiful. There's plenty to nit pick about, but there are just as many spots to be impressed with. I wish my camera (phone) hadn't died, I didn't get to the pictures of some of my favorite areas of the park. The Pirate / bumper car section, the Tin Lizzy / Twister area (ignoring the batting cage and go karts), the big stretch from the campground to Boomerang into the Boardwalk and up toward the front gate. And as much as I hate the ride now (it was epic in it's glory days) I stop and stare at the Mind Eraser from the parking lot every time I go. It's just such a cool looking structure and being right there by the parking lot with unimpeded views is very impressive. And I would consider Seabreeze to be my home park, I live closer to that, and I like Seabreeze better than DL. Even if DL were running 2 trains and had everything pristine, I would still choose to go to Seabreeze, I just love the atmosphere there. Don't worry, you weren't being negative at all. I was agreeing with you that Darien Lake has always been a beautiful park and very clean.

Parcman, I really don't understand why there is so much negative talk about Darien Lake on this thread. DL is a beautiful theme park. It is almost impossible to create the atmosphere that DL has. From the moment you first walk in to the last moment of your day/stay, Dl has what it takes to make you want to return and return again. No other theme park that my family has been to has ever made us feel that way. Canada's Wonderland has more rides but does not have the atmosphere that Darien Lake has, nor will it ever. You all should be very proud to call DL your home park, it is beautiful!

Can I ask where you got this information? I just checked the "public" Canada's Wonderland website and the information you just posted is not on the Wonderland website. Also, why do you keep talking about Winterfest? This will never happen at Wonderland. Attendance drops at Wonderland in September/October because it is too cold to go on rides. There is no way, people are going to come to Wonderland to go on rides during the winter, and most rides would not be able to be turned on in the winter anyways. Not going to happen. Also, don't worry about crowded mazes at Haunt. If what you predict is true, then Haunt attendance will also be way down as people are not going to pay $50.00 for 7 mazes. My family has gone to every Haunt and Fearfest, but if they indeed only have 7 mazes, then I'll been going somewhere else this year. -
If Darien Lake is wanting to attract Canadians to your beautiful park, then I would not install a Giant Discovery as we already have one at Canada's Wonderland. However, our Giant Discovery, called Psyclone, is one of the more popular flats at our park, so to add that to Darien Lake would be an awesome addition. It just would not attract folks who live near Wonderland that's all.

On the Toronto news, they were talking to families who agree with me. Why would you take your children to a place that needed to be protected by armoured police vehicles? It has nothing to do with Wonderland. I know there was no specific threat against any attractions, but If there was that much of a reaction needed by police, then they should of shut down the areas that were threatened regardless of what attractions the areas were near. -

With a threat that needs that much reaction including armoured vehicles, why on earth would anyone voluntarily want to be a part of that? No thanks. -
It sounds like, if SF ran their VR rides like that, operations would go much more smoothly than they did. At SFMM, there were TVs in the queue line, which told guests to put on their headsets before getting on the ride, and instructed them how to do so. The ride ops would then tell guests to take OFF their headsets when they were getting on the ride, and then put them back on. It took a ridiculous amount of time and confusion to dispatch each train because the right hand didn't seem to know what the left hand was doing. SFMM is running DC Superheroes VR on Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom this year. It's slowing down dispatches a little bit, but not nearly as bad as last year. At Wonderland, VR guests are actually directed up the exit and have a area to put on the VR's at a calm pace, before actually getting on the coaster. The guests get on the coaster with the VR glasses already on and ready to go.

Where did you here this Chemical, there is nothing on the internet about any kind of threat? Did anyone actually stay in the park? To me, it doesn't matter if the tip is confirmed or not. 'BS!" If there is a threat then close then entire place down, no questions asked! I am VERY upset! If there is any threat towards any theme park, then the owners have an obligation to get everyone off the property as soon as the threat happens! Theme park evacuations do not happens quickly! -
Thank you BWALL. I just found something that makes me think that Darien Lake will indeed be getting a new coaster next year. It will be call Superman : Ride of Steel VR. Take a look at what Six Flags New England guests have been enjoying since 2016. I can tell you right now, that my family will be planning a trip to DL next year if they convert Ride of Steel to VR. This will be an awesome upcharge ride for DL and will make a load of money to help pay for another train. (Fingers crossed.)

The last year of "old Six Flags" ownership, my family couldn't help but hear the employees say they were very happy that Six Flags was leaving. Sure, Six Flags invested a lot into Superman and the park at first, but then they stopped investing into the park and really cut back on staff and ride operations. Some people seem to forget about the employees rotating into different areas of the park and certain rides being operated at certain times during the day. This was during the Six Flags era. I remember seeing the Bugs Bunny breakfast host in the morning and then seeing her again in the theatre show, and then seeing her again at the character dance party around the fountain. Six Flags really cut back on staff during the last couple of years they owned the park. Even the games were operated by only a couple of employees who would have to move to the games that actually had someone who wanted to play. There were times when the entire kids area was closed due to lack of staff. Please don't forget that it has taken over 10 years to just start to repair what Six Flags let deteriorate. The last year that Six Flags owned DL, Superman was not operating because the lift chain broke and Six Flags did not want to pay to repair it. Over time, people have forgotten just what Six Flags did to Darien Lake. We can only hope this doesn't happen again.

From a business point, it does make sense. If a guest is willing to pay $20.00 to play fast pass plinko, then at $5.00 a shot, they would get 4 tries and have a 1 in 4 shot at winning. However, at $10.00 a shot, the park still makes the same amount of money, but the guest now only gets a 1 in 2 shot at winning. Screw the guest, make the same amount of money. Makes sense to me. -

Perhaps' date=' someone messed up and it truly was supposed to be brown supports and green track. I mean, that truly would make so much more sense. I think it actually might look stupid. When you think about it, there is going to be green supports growing out of the forest with brown track above the green trees? Yeah, that just might look stupid. I think we will know what it should be when we see the trains. If the trains are green, then they are not going to match the track. We will have to see. [/quote] -
