Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
blk_mamba replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A vertical 21-story drop, and then being flipped upside down over 150 feet into the air with another two inversions and an additional 100+ foot drop. Where else can you do that in your everyday life? That is indeed "insane" to anyone who doesn't live to ride coasters (99.9999% of the population & Cedar Point's target audience). I think that this ride is not really for the roller coaster enthusiast it is more the GP who will agree with Dummermattk. I have to agree with JonnyRCT3 this ride is going to a great ride. The issue most are having is this is NOT in line with Cedar Points tradition of being innovative, creative and different. CP would probably respond that it is the tallest, fastest and longest but it many hardcore roller coaster enthusiast wanted to see something different and this feels like lip service to Cedar Points traditions. Me personally I was disappointed that they did not at least add a new type of element. For example right next door Raptor was the first coaster with the cobra roll. Good news is that they have/had everything in the B&M catalog (Floorless, Standing, Winged, Vertical, Inverted) except for a Flying coaster, the sitting coaster which they won't do, and the hyper/giga b/c they already have both of those. So what ever coaster they build next won't be B&M. Cedar Point is in an interesting spot. It is hard to build a creative innovative ground breaking coaster with the capacity necessary for that park that can accommodate a family. Essentially what ever they do someone is going to be pissed, lol. -
Skyplex Orlando Discussion Thread

I see how this could hurt Universal big time. When people are coming or leaving Orlando they might hit up Universal one more time and go to something Potter and hit up City walk. This place will have a super drop tower and amazing rollercoaster plus retail. This place will definitely hurt them b/c right now they have the best thrill rides in Orlando and this place is going to smash ride records, with limited theming and draw big crowds. All that talk about the skyline etc is bull. I get why Universal is scared, they should be this place will be awesome! -
Verola Hills 1950

This logo doesn't feel very 1950's but I am interested to see what rides you think are on RCT that would be in a park in 1950. -
I have never been to SeaWorld however I think this is an interesting move by the park. At first they seemed resolved to fight the regulation but now they are just completely capitulating to the demands of the over zealous government. I think that SeaWorld is realizing that the Orca's (as they are used now) just are not welcome in the San Diego area. I'd imagine if I were the SeaWorld's CEO I'd look into just shutting the park down and blaming it on San Diego government. I'd remove the all the useful rides and coasters and what ever else you could you can salvage and move them to other parks. I wonder if they'd be willing to build a new park elsewhere to re-coup the revenue. Sea World was willing to spend 100 million dollars in the park and now it is unclear what they are going to spend. On the flip side I wouldn't mind a Sea World that focuses more on roller coaster b/c that might give me a reason to want to go to one of their parks.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that Six Flags America really deserves a new world class coaster. SFA is between both Baltimore and DC in one of the largest and the richest metro area in the country. I sincerely believe if they build it they would come. I think that the Six flags people are scared to invest too much into the park b/c it competes with Hershey Park, and Kings Dominion, with Dorney Park, Busch Gardens and their own Six Flags Great America not to far away. I know there have been issue with the crowds but I think that is not as much of an issue anymore and speaking for myself I'll bypass SFA and travel to other parks with out once visiting in a season b/c it seems so obvious that the franchise doesn't care about the park. It seems like no only does the park get the short end of the stick with rides but they also are shafted in terms of just structural/general park improvements. It seems like there is no shade, poor food options and lack luster souvenir choices. With all that being said the Six Flags chains really haven't been making too many true new coasters as of late but I will say that Discovery Kingdom's Roar getting the RMC treatment kinda stung b/c their model is a year younger than the one in MD. If the DK Roar deserved the RMC treatment, so does the MD one! I'd love to see them RMC that thing but I also would not mind having Intamin or B&M do something with the park.

The ride is looking very nice. I enjoy how the point has the 24 hour cameras! They know how to keep the fanboys satisfied. I think I'll be making a trip back! -
I like this addition.I wish they could find a place for the swing but it was and older model and an upcharge. I appreciate the overall rework of the area. With Potter coming it makes sense to redesign and update all of Ghost town! I could imagine. I like how hey have been committing to their classic nostalgia inducing attractions. I wish they had more space! Ghostrider sounds like it will be more fun w/o the MCBR. I have to get out there!

I feel like if Skyrush was in Cedar Point it would be listed as a top 10 coaster easily. I haven't seem very many views of the ride once ridden that are bad. -

I must admit that is a very grand entrance. Nice detailing but why did you leave the frontier signs up? -

I wonder if Universal will try to get Disney on board, I wonder if they even care. I can't imagine if you are the board that will say "no we do not want another tourist attraction". I'd hope they could see how transparent their light pollution argument is especially when you can see plenty of the other attraction outside their park already on Hulk, Dragon Challenge and the Dr. Doom Drop tower. -

[RCT3] Atlantis The Lost Empire

very intense -
The source for confirming seems sketchy but I'd like B&M to come back and re-do the coaster but those first 4 elements of the ride to me is what made it great. I think that the back part of the ride can go and I wouldn't miss it at all. Looking at the track in the scrap yard that ride was run into the ground! It needed a rehab or some sort. What is most interesting to me is wondering what other rides at other parks are going to get the "Incredible Hulk" treatment. While the ride is in Orlando and thus running every day all day. What about other rides that are in more harsh environments where it snows. It also makes me wonder what is the life span of other B&M even if they don't run as hard and heavy as the Hulk.

Kolmården Discussion Thread

I looks good, it wasn't as intense and I thought it would be, I actually understand more why Dollywood avoid inversions. I think Wildfire might have been better if they skipped the inversion for more airtime moment. Just my opinion and to be clear I think this ride is an amazing ride! -
I decided to visit Kirkmen Island to celebrate the 4th of July. The owners of the park take the holiday very seriously and use the park as a way to express their patriotism. All the buildings in the park were dressed up in the red, white and blue. First thing I did when I got to the park was take a picture with Sam the Eagle. The White Lightning Midway was also decorated to celebrate America's independence but the White Lightning was down for maintenance which explained why the midway was so empty. Frontier Village however was busy as usual. This part of the park has seen the most development in the 1970's. Two of the best rides in the park are in this area. The Indian Trail Mine Train had long lines even when it is running at full capacity. The most popular attraction at the park and my personal new favorite is the Susquehanna Log Flume especially on a hot summer day like today. This Log Flume ride is so innovate but when they say you will get wet, they mean it! The best part of the day (or night) was the awesome firework display. No 4th of July celebration is complete with a great fireworks display and Kirkmen Island did not disappoint.I watched from the Boardwalk and got an excellent view Comments: I welcome all feedback positive and negative and inbetween. MattIce: Thanks for the compliments. I Still think it needs more work. Making it was harder than I thought and I still see things I could do.

TTD must be a daunting task to paint TTD. It looks like it was in need though. -

I agree I have heard so much about the land they purchased and it looks huge. They have purchased enough to build a second gate and expand the current park easily. -

This a mega-troll move however what this also tells me is that Cedar Point listens. They know they have to cater to the general public but they know people have a higher expectation of them as a park. I think the build board publicity moves and this note highlight the fact that they are know as a park of record breakers. Funny picture.
