This is the exact reason why I don't support animal rights groups. While I do think adequate treatment of animals in captivity is important, I feel that groups like PETA spend more time shaming major companies than focusing on much more serious matters. I'm fairly certain various countries in Asia have illegal whaling activity, yet activists gloss over that and complain about how horrible it is that Seaworld owns orcas. In addition, many animal rights groups, espescially PETA ,have very odd ways of garnering support for their cause. For example, PETA went as far as to make flash games about Nintendo characters(Mario and the cast of Pokemon) abusing animals.

Yup thats the new generation. Bitch and moan until there is literally nothing fun left. What's worse is that some people are basically saying that Seaworld should euthanize their orcas. So apparently it's cruel to keep orcas in enclousers, but it's totally fine for them to be put down long before they need to be.

I agree. that lady was terrible to Nick. She kept asking him why other attractions were closed as if it weren't obvious why. -

Here's my take on this news: First of all, i think it's great that seaworld is getting a new ride that will be (for a little while) the biggest in Orlando. it's a great strategy to ease the GP away from the Blackfish controversy and bring up their revenues I highly doubt that the hyper will be a Mack, since Mack hasn't built anything over 200 Ft. and may make some poor mistakes with the ride. A Chance-Morgan hyper would be interesting to see, since the nearest similar ride would be in TX (i think). but really, it probably boils down to either B&M or Intamin. A B&M hyper would be cool, and because the company has had a long history with Seaworld, it's probably Seaworld's first choice. However, a ride like Skyrush @ Hersheypark would be sweet, as it wouldn't have any nearby clones and could probably have some cool themeing. Speaking of which, if the ride was themed to sharks, they could have guests exit into a redesigned shark habitat.

in my opinion, i think that people who claim that Seaworld doesn't treat their animals fairly have never actually seen Seaworld's animal habitats. they are very well designed for the specific animals, and they seem to be well-fed and have no signs of abuse. i guess people just don't like animals being in captivity, despite the fact that it keeps them from being killed by other, not so nice people.
