  1. Had another look at Abyss today, very little in the way of progress outside, who knows what they've been up to inside the warehouse though. This section has been closed in this week These guys were grinding a join in the track The enclosed section is now completely... enclosed Wonder where this straight piece of track belongs? New boundary fence As good a place as any to have a rest No movement on the theming, the hooded guys are still wrapped up
  2. Awesome, can only hope they would engage intamin to better formula rossa, a new record holder might be on the cards here.
  3. Track work completed, the full layout is now visible. Hopefully they are not far away from testing but there is no sign of cars onsite yet. It looks like they have started taking delivery of the theming as well. Tower in all of it's through the trees glory Overbank or inversion? Theming has arrived! looks like the hooded figures to me Track below ground level, a possible tunnel section?
  4. ^only just mate. Thanks for the video too. So are you staying up tonight???
  5. 'ABYSS' Ride is officially named!! Adventure world are running a comp tonight at 12.13 (13 minutes past midnight on Friday the 13th) to be the first rider. Source: http://www.7perth.com.au/view/today-tonight-articles/today-tonight-rollercoaster-reveal/ Article: Its' been years in the planning - months in construction and now the biggest thrill ride ever to be built in W.A is revealed - the 12 million dollar rollercoaster at Adventure World has been named Abyss - Adventure World boss Mark Shaw says Abyss will be the first real theme ride Perth's ever seen and it's not for the faint hearted. The roller coaster was constructed in Germany - the scary theming has been built at a special facility in the Philippines which specialises in theme park fit outs around the world - a massive gateway will lead riders through a waste land protected by druid guardians - riders will speed past upturned trees with ravens watching over them. "The ride's called Abyss and that is a reflection of some of the ride elements particularly inside the dark side of the building there's a bit of plunge there and the ride theme has the guardians of the Abyss which protect the ride and the powers of the ride it has these strange powers that overcome you" Without doubt this is going to be the most exciting part of this ride, its 30 metres straight up in the air and you know what they say what goes up must come down. As you approach the crest you'll go over the crest into a more than vertical drop will pick up speed up to 85 km/h " There are four inversions on the ride as well as a zero G roll and a dark section and more twists and turns than a crime thriller - all that equals the white knuckle ride of your life. Is this going to be like anything Perth has seen before? No this is a totally new experience i mean the coaster itself is world class four inversions a 30 metre tower there with more than vertical drop 85 km/h " Construction at Adventure World is continuing at a frantic pace - the ride is slated to open at the beginning of November and if you think you're up for it you can win your chance to be the first member of the public to take the ride. We're about to launch a very special competition which opens at 13 minutes past midnight on Friday the 13th and basically it's an online game where you collect points and the two teams with the most points will be the chosen ones and they will be the first to ride the ride on the media launch night it's a very special night" To enter the competion you have to log on and play the game online - Adventure World Roller Coaster Competition http://www.chosenones.com.au ( competition goes live at 12.13 am Friday 13th September ) Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/TheChosenOnesOfficial Screenshot of countdown from Chosen Ones website
  6. 3 days to go... Possible name ''the reaper" ?
  7. Cool, thanks Larrygator. Will hopefully get some more photos this week if there's any more progress. Can't wait for them to start testing.
  8. Just got back from Adventure World and must say that I am blown away with how much has been done in the two weeks since my last visit . I am now very excited about this ride!! Seeing the lift hill and a good part of the layout in place has definitely got me pumped. I am confident now that this is NOT a SAW clone as previously thought (maybe the indoor section only), I have not ridden SAW but there is obvious differences in the layout that tell me it's not a clone or a mirrored version. Maybe someone can spot similarities with another Eurofighter, as I am still unsure if this is an original layout. Onto some photo's, there is quite a bit of access available if your willing to follow the fence line of the hill behind the park, it a great perspective being above the work in progress and looking down on it all. Thanks for reading. Signage in place on North Lake Road behind the park Track being stored near the drop tower Lift hill (through the trees) This track piece was being put into position at the time Eurofighter lift hills definitely look bigger in person, or is this one taller than usual? Will this be the last piece to be installed? Lets hope the MCBR works, could be a nasty drop otherwise Credit? View from the front of the park Lastly, here's a panoramic of the construction site He's already telling me want's to ride it
  9. Found this in the local paper, it's from early August. Have heard that work has started on the lift hill, will try and swing past to get some pics this weekend.
  10. This pos from leisure land fair in Melbourne Aus. Don't know what it was or what it was called but it planted the seed for me back in about 1988 ish. I'm in the yellow shirt.
  11. THIS is why I am saving for another trip to the states one day. You guys get to have all the fun.
  12. I want to say this looks great but drop rides still scare the bejeezus out of me, I'd probably do it but it would take all I have to get on this. Would rather another ride on kingda ka (it's been a while).
  13. Yeah progress is minimal outside of the shed at the moment (from what I can see from the access road), guess we'll have to wait till September for the official announcement on layout etc. as there really isn't much happening to give it away for now.
  14. Swung past the park today, not much happening outside of the warehouse yet and no more track onsite, just some uprights waiting for installation. This is about all you can see from the access road I think this side will be sheeted soon, possibly to hide any further progress inside the building Only 1 guy on the whole site today, getting the boom lift in place to clad the walls maybe? Uprights waiting for their new home Site supervisor keeping a close eye on things
  15. Dont know if Mujabubkins would of approve of this one...
  16. An update on the proposed water park, they aim to have it operational by 2015. Considering I thought we would never hear of this again,I am pleased to see that it's in the media again. One of the proposed sites is only 15 minutes from where I live so fingers crossed. NEW Perth water park and resort complex will attract 500,000 visitors a year, according to the company behind the ambitious project. Nine News reports that the first of two planned theme parks, a water park similar to Queensland's Wet'N'Wild, will be operating by 2015. Stage 2 would be an adrenaline park featuring action rides like those at Florida's Disneyworld. Both parks would be contained within one 'stay and play' complex that would also boast a resort, shops and golf course. Ermes WA, the company behind the project, is examining several sites less than an hour from the CBD and near freeways and train lines, such as Alkimos and Baldivis. Heres the latest link. http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/western-australia/new-water-park-operational-by-2015/story-e6frg15c-1226087521289
  17. Robb, does this picture have anything to do with whale semen? (just wanted to say whale semen, it felt good).
  18. Your on Elissa, i'm going to personally put in the $4b just to get you guys out here. I think it's a safe bet to say this will go the way of Six Flags Dubai and all the other parks that will never, ever get built.
  19. Wow, best coaster trip report in history. For some reason the photo with your Kat scratching its claws on your rug in the background cracked me up, gotta loves Kat's.
  20. Could this be an effort to secure a visit from TPR on their next Australian Tour? Im not getting my hopes up but hey, it's a nice thought. Perth has been identified as the preferred home for a proposed $4 billion resort and theme park by a European animatronics entertainment company. Encouraged by the State Government's push to boost WA's profile as a world-class holiday destination, Ermes Technologies wants to attract more than two million tourists a year by building one of the biggest family resort and theme park operations on the planet. The proposed development would be similar in style to Walt Disney World and would include two theme parks, up to four hotels, two golf courses and an entertainment precinct featuring restaurants, retail shops, stage shows and discos. Ermes themed entertainment division chief executive Enrico Petrucci said Perth's proximity and direct flights to Asia and its growing popularity as a cruise ship destination made it an ideal resort location. "The resort will be a dreamland," he said. "Totally self-contained to reach, to rest and have fun for two or three days. "Where people can return home with unforgettable memories and the desire to come back again. "Of course, it would be foolish of any business to place all its eggs in one basket and if we find Perth is not interested, the second city we are looking at is Melbourne." Mr Petrucci said the development would be the biggest project yet for the Italian-based company's themed entertainment division, which specialised in custom-built hotels and themed attractions. Ermes is the representative of Sally Corporation, whose attractions include Universal Studios in Los Angeles and Florida and Britain's Alton Towers. Mr Petrucci said a specific location and the size of the park had not been finalised. Ermes planned to secure agreements with Australian architects for the park's design before approaching the State Government with a formal proposal. The company also hoped to work with the WA Academy of Performing Arts to provide hands-on training and work for students. It planned to open hospitality, cooking and bar service schools. Tourism WA chief Stephanie Buckland said the proponents of the potential development had not approached the State. "But from what you describe, it sounds like a bold and exciting development that would be welcome in Western Australia," she said. Tourism Minister Kim Hames said it was an exciting and ambitious proposal and he would be interested to learn more. WAAPA director Julie Warn said any development that ramped up the entertainment and allied industries in WA and increased employment opportunities for students was welcome. 21. Robb, that is fantastic, honestly, I dont know how you do it. I hope Australia is treating you guys well.
  22. Awesome, when do the T shirts go on sale? Heres my question though, If I make an agreement with the current owners of Teh Big Dipping Coasters, I would then pay the money after paperwork has been completed showing the legal transfer between the two parties. After the owners received the down payment, I will then be declared, both publicly and privately, to be the new owner of teh Coasters in question. In the meantime, I will be working diligently toward finding a new location for Teh Big Dipping Coasters, securing private funding, and anything else I could do, and then....... Will I actually own the Coasters or not?
  23. Sweet, our old Wild Mouse on TPR. It still looks just the same as it did when it was here in Perth years ago at our Royal Show. I hope you guys are getting the royal treatment in Australia, your much bigger celebs than Oprah imo.
