  1. The Zipper is the ONE flat ride I have never ridden that I am most looking forward to riding one day. Glad they're still around! And sure, someone COULD do an updated version, but nothing will be like the 1st generation Zipper where it basically looks like you're strapped into a rinkety chain linked cage, with nothing but a lap bar full of decade old padding, and then flung relentlessly head over heels. Hopefully I can get on one before they start becoming extinct.
  2. The Simpsons is timeless, therefore, could NEVER be too late as an addition IMO. I am a huge Simpsons fan and absolutely love what they've done with everything. Great attention to detail, very immersive sets, and some very unique ideas to bring the entire area to life. A great way to take what was already there, which did have the "out of date" vibe to it, and update it while expanding the rides theme into an entire area around the attraction. Not one complaint from me at all. Can't wait to try a Krusty Burger and some Duff! Thanks for the Pics Jew!
  3. I hold a special place in my heart for people that can't seem to appreciate the love Sea World has for its animals, and their willingness to bring ALL PEOPLE, young and old, up close in person to see how amazing and special every single one of these animals are. If there is ANYONE that has earned the responsibility of holding these creatures in captivity, raising them healthy to the best of their ability, and teaching people to appreciate the majesty of the ocean, it is Sea World. I am a strong believer that if people don't have the opportunity to see orca's, dolphins, and all the other animals Sea World provides up close and personal, how are they supposed to have respect for the protection of their species and the conservation of the oceans they live in? These are the things I learned going to Sea World when I was young, and these are the values taught to those who continue to visit with their friends and family. I only hope this kind of message gets repeated to people who are baited by viral propaganda; I hope they know what they're watching is more concerned with likes and views, instead of appreciating what really is an amazing, educational, eye opening place to visit. Sea World busts their asses to be the best, and I will 100% support them until that stops. Thank you, RAWKIN_coaster38, for the photos and trip report! I haven't ridden Manta yet, but me and my girlfriend will soon, and we both love Sea World and look forward to our trip.
  4. I agree. B&M and even Intamin have odd supports here and there when neccesary, but a majority of their rides tend to intentionally have a way with making the supports "fit" the circuit of their rides, to where they're almost artistic. The supports for this ride look clunky and rigid. I have never been to this park, although I am looking forward to visiting some day! However, every single picture I've seen of this ride really makes me wonder if they could have found a better place to install it. It looks awkward, out of place, almost an eyesore that at first glance seems to not really been thought out well. Which is very odd considering how visually appealing most rides at Busch parks tend to be. That being said, once you get on the ride, it looks like it will be a fantastic experience.
  5. I rode Ghostrider last week and I have to say, for a veteran rider who knows what a bad woodie can feel like (Mean Streak, Psyclone), it wasn't too bad! I sat in the very last row, IMO the very best seat for Ghostrider, and the first half really brought me back. However, I was not a fan of the halt at the brake run over the station. It brought the train to a stall, which kinda killed the pacing through the remainder of the rides circuit. It just felt like it was chugging along way too slow. I'll never forget riding back in the day, especially for the last ride of the night, and that train did not slow down at the brake run AT ALL. Even as much as I rode coasters, that drop at full speed scared the crap out of me every time. It was probably one of my favorite hills on any coaster ever. I would brace for it, because that drop and the next couple hundred feet of track literally kicked yer ass! The rest of ride ride was pure wood coaster insanity. Rough shuffling left and right, quick direction changes through lumber, great pops of air, and that violent rumble through the final helix. No doubt these kinds of ride experiences I endured really beat the crap out of the track and the ride. It's just a shame the ride layout and proper maintenance couldn't continue these types of experiences for people these days. I think if RMC redid the entire track without changing any of the layout or elements, it just wouldn't feel like the same wooden coaster.
  6. I understand your point, but maybe what I say will give a little insight. I've been visiting Magic Mountain since I was a kid, so I enjoy it, but over that time I've come to understand the criticism. I still continue to visit, just cause it's so cheap. I pay $125 a year for a gold pass to park for free and ride the roller coasters anytime I want. But you know what I think really hurts the company and encourages the hate on these boards? It's the lack of progression in technology and customer service that has really pissed a lot of people off over the past 2 decades. There are a long list of things Disney and Universal have done to enhance the experience for the price you pay, but you don't see this kind of progression from Six Flags, even though (besides the price of admission) you pretty much pay the same (OR MORE) as both of the aforementioned parks once you walk through the gates. It really makes you scratch your head and wonder if the people in charge really have any clue what they're doing. From a guest standpoint, they rip people off. From a former employee standpoint, they deserve all the criticism they get. They're stuck in the 1980's and continue to do things the way they've always done them, and it really is a shame. For instance, are DIGITAL UPDATED WAIT TIMES for each ride throughout the park really that hard to do in 2015? The company has NEVER spent, maintained, or operated the park with even the most mundane standards. Even I'll admit, there are times when I'm at the park sitting in line sweating in the sun, and I'm like "WHY isn't there shade here? Who designed this crap? What the HELL could be taking SO long?" It gets absurd. But the lack of progression of the chain as a whole compared to parks like Universal or Disney really is quite sad. It's like they haven't changed the way they do things for the past 20 years. There are so many ways to improve the park, but for some reason the culture of the employees from the top to the bottom has basically kept this from happening. Nobody seems to really want change. The attitude is "If it's not my job, I'm not going to do it." It's been said before, but I'll just reiterate: If any educated semi-intelligent coaster enthusiast on here were in charge, I think we'd see a significant improvement in not only the operations of the park, but a face lift of the Six Flags company in general. It's much more complicated than that, for sure, but I think even myself could come up with a handful of suggestions that if immediately implemented, would drastically improve the experience of the park for every guest that walks through the gate. But as far as I was concerned when I worked there, this company and it's higher ups aren't interested in that. They want "Yes" people who follow the flock, to continue things the same ways they've been doing it since I can remember. It's really too bad. Considering the potential of just Magic Mountain in general, it hurts to see how things continue to deteriorate. And I'm not sure if that's because the people up the chain only care about lining their pockets with money, but when you consider how much cash the parks make and how little things have improved, someone in charge is just not doing it right. Sorry for the rant, but I hope I hit it on the head. I don't like the complaining much either, but it's also hard to blame people who are not satisfied with a product they've been paying for after years and years have gone by. If you're speaking in regards to my comment with replacing Goliath with a giga, I suppose my post may have been a bit confusing? I guess what I mean is I would have gone 15 years without Goliath, to have a nice Intamin Giga like i305 eventually installed there instead. It would be downright ridiculous to assume the park would tear out Goliath to replace it with a ride merely 50 feet taller. Sanity restored.
  7. Goliath is a crowd favorite. Not my favorite by a longshot. Replacing Goliath for a Giga would be a great exchange IMO, but, it is just not going to happen. Wish the park would have waited instead of trying to bring a record breaker. Goliath has so much potential but just falls short.
  8. Yeah, there probably are several other reasons, but really only 1 that glares why Revolution has OTSR's is because the trains original lapbars alone just aren't substantial enough considering the maneuvers of the ride. I think people when the ride was fairly new were messing around and weaseling their way out of the restraints, I believe I've seen pictures of this. And with the length of the circuit, it's completely possible. Think about it, a ride like Montezuma's stays in a generally straight line and happens so quickly, there was never really an issue. My guess is if we are to ever ride Revolution again without shoulder restraints, it will be with new trains that have updated lap bars like on Full Throttle and Twisted Colossus. And I don't see the park spending any money to do that anytime soon. Although that would be AMAZING especially if they let the ride run as fast as it did originally without all the absurd unnecessary trim and block brakes. Revolution really only needs 2 train operation, anyway. How much could 2 new trains cost? And as far as that even that was posted? It seems like a quick cash-grab by the park to title an event "Exclusive" when really it's just the park being open but getting admission tickets sold for another time of the day. Typical buffet food that really is nothing too special. Unless you haven't been to the park before or just want to go 1 time, I wouldn't really say it's worth it. Especially if as other people have said on here, it's generally packed.
  9. Honestly, this youtube video makes the ride look A LOT more fast-paced than the forward view POV. That lift hill and first drop seem like they go on forever...
  10. I don't know why you'd be so concerned about losing the Flash-Pass. In case you didn't know, it comes connected to a strap with a carabiner that you just click on to one of your belt loops, and it won't go anywhere. I mean, unless you really really try to bust it off. I would also suggest purchasing the gold, and passing on the platinum. I used the gold on a pretty busy day last year, and it got us on everything without a hiccup.
  11. that must be a rotten commute from San Pedro all the way there. Probably. And yeah, they probably get up super early. But combine the cheap commute with having a JOB I wouldn’t doubt it happens. IdahoKat: If you have an extra $100 to spend to get around, and pretty much figure you're going solo, I would suggest spoiling yourself *a little bit* and renting a car. If you have a Costco Card, even better: One time my car was in the shop, and I rented a brand new Sentra from Enterprise for $109 for a WEEK, and they even picked me up and dropped me off. Otherwise drop a PM with the details. I'm itching for a trip to the Mountain, and will probably take several once Twisted Colossus opens.
  12. This is probably the coaster I waited the longest to ride and looked forward to the most, and I absolutely HATE saying this because I LOVE the park, but my #1 most disappointing roller coaster ever is Millennium Force. One of the most beautiful coasters I have ever seen, a great name, great specs, but it breaks my heart. I was expecting airtime, a punch, something memorable, but it delivered such a mundane first ride, and has since not impressed me at all. I would say Golitah/Titan is better, and would skip MF for TTD as my last ride of the night.
  13. Well if you pass 1.5 meters, at least you know you're good no matter what anyone says!
  14. Glad this thread was bumped, otherwise I never would have known this ride is up and running again! I always thought this was a novel concept, and one I too wish was reproduced like so many of those Vekoma Boomerangs. Can't say Schwarzkopf never disappointed, but when you see ride ideas like this come into fruition, it really goes to show the guy knew how to make unique roller coasters in compact layouts that are still to this day, a TON of fun. And IMO, possibly preferable to some of the $20 Million dollar forceless B&Ms we have all become accustom to.
  15. ^Great photos, and thanks to everyone who is posting photos of the quick -but frequent- updates! They are not going unappreciated! Not a change! This is the bottom hill in the Top Gun Stall, the green track will be upside down over this hill. It looks like this in the animation. That being said from what it looks like, there is a substantial amount of support structure that will need to be built to accommodate the "Top Gun Stall" on the green track while the blue track is enjoying the hill they're working on now. I think after the blue track is installed to this point, there will be another week or two of construction where we see a little bit of "delay" as far as progression in the track layout. The support for the green TGS will be an addition constructed purely by RMC. They are laying both tracks in succession while they build this thing, which IMO is a great way to go about it. Although Magic Mountain has had a troublesome history pushing the limits with unique coaster design, RMChas a solid history, and I like the way they're building this thing.
  16. LOL. Watch out for the credibility patrol! The park maps have never made sense. Tatsu is now drawn as going UNDER the lift hill for craps sake. Who do they hire to draw these things up?? I feel like they could hold a "Whatever guest draws the best park map wins a season pass" competition with park fans voting and the maps would be 1,000,000 times better than any map the park has ever released. And it'd cost the company NOTHING! These guys at SF have no clue what they're doing---PERIOD. But thank Christ the company at least decides to keep installing roller coasters...becuase if it weren't for that, I'd have no reason to show up! Cheers to Twisted Colossus! Looks unlike ANYTHING I've ever seen before. And I already look forward to riding it.
  17. This seems more likely to me. While it would be easy to say that this is an overreaction at the behest of the lawyers, the fact that they put in new trees hints that they care at least a little bit, but there were likely issues that required the removal of the old ones. If the lawyers had said “You know, it would really reduce our potential liability here to just clear cut the hillside and leave it that way.” I doubt that MM would have given much push back and you wouldn’t see new trees planted. Just my 2 cents. Well if that's the case they should cut down all the trees surrounding rides at Magic Mountain including Revolution and Full Throttle and Superman. Overreaction for sure. One tree falls after 45 years of the park being in operation, and all of a sudden it's like every tree around the ride is going to topple over. Dumb.
  18. I would say 2 days at Disneyland and California Adventure is a good plan, and if you like roller coasters I would definitely suggest Magic Mountain. But maybe go to MM on Sunday if you can instead of Saturday? It just won't be as busy. Radiator Racers will be the longest line of the Disneyland Resort trip if you decide to ride it. I would also suggest it being the first ride of the day on the 2nd day. Space Mountain and Indy will run out of Fastpasses, but not as quickly as you think. If you get there before 3 pm you should be good to get fastpasses for a night ride. Also keep in mind you can get another Fastpass I believe an hour after you get your last one. So try to time it out where you can almost accumulate Fastpasses throughout the day. I think you'll have plenty of time to do everything you want to, and maybe some things twice. If you go to Magic Mountain on a Saturday, I'd say take a quick analysis of park lines when you get there, see how many cars are in the parking lot, then decide if you want to get a flash pass so you don't have to wait in miserable lines and you can get on everything you want to. As far as Fastpass purchasing, I would suggest the Gold, as the one time I used it, it worked out perfectly. I find the Platinum to be an absurd hike in the price for not so much of an upside. For the rides NOT on the Fastpass, I say suck it up and wait in 1 or 2 lines. As we all know, part of the fun of being at amusement parks is waiting in line with who's there with you. Have fun!
  19. I get the Scream parking lot hate, and I get the "give it up it's been there for years" mentality. But really, I think the core issue of what Scream became/what it's become has what to do with what Allen said. Getting this ride operational to the public was prepared bare bones. It's really hard to think the ride was installed otherwise. A couple cuts in the concrete were made to accommodate "low" sections of the ride, but Scream was no doubt last minute. "We already bought a coaster and need somewhere to put it." The queue walls, exit paths, and the plaza entry are pretty much "we plopped down a coaster with inversions now go ride." Scream has been the most bare bone B&M I've ever seen. Nothing about it draws people to ride. I've heard guests literally say "It's just like Riddlers!" I think the easiest/cheapest solution would be to just PAINT the black top, but knowing SF, they'd screw that up. IMO a great solution to make the best of what they have, is dropping 3" of sand and sawing out circles for 30 palm trees in random places around the ride. You could even hide the palm tree watering hoses with sand. The ride would look a lot better, and everyone would be happy, and it'd add a new "non-parking-lot-coaster" element to the ride. If better thought out AT ALL, the coaster could have been positioned in a way that would minimize the general disconnect from the park. Pull the ride 100 feet south so the dive loop is right in the middle of the Colossus County Fair path. Build a bridge that goes over the low drop between that and the zero-g roll to make an impressive entrance to the rides plaza. Or you could rotate the ride 180 degrees so the interlocking corkscrews reach far into the Colossus plaza, which brings the coaster circuit closer, instead of out in the parking lot! It really is mind-blowing, that multi-million dollar installations are made with such asinine higher up decisions: especially at a company that promotes "entertainment" for paying customers. These guys have NO CLUE what they're doing. But we've all seen the culture at the park, we know employees that have worked at the park, and nobody who works there as a "lifer" really seems to care about changing it. Guess they're happy with where they are. But enough about that, WHEN DO I GET TO RIDE TWISTED F*****G COLOSSUS!?!?!?!
  20. This image really says it all when it comes to how twisty and awkward this coaster kinda looks, although I have no doubt it's going to be an amazing ride. Can't wait to see how much more dysfunctional it looks as they continue on.
  21. Can't wait to feel the "outer" forces on that high five element during the green track. Totally unlike anything Magic Mountain, or the West Coast mind you, has to offer at this point.
  22. Love Cedar Point, haven't been since summer Maverick opened. Had an opportunity to go last Summer, but skipped out. Gatekeeper looks like an average B&M that meanders through the course. Was not interested in taking a day to make the trek out to the park. Although if a quality dive coaster gets installed in the next couple years, that may change my opinion.
  23. I hate seeing this park flattening old themed lands and tearing out trees. Twisted Colossus is looking to be a winner, but if the area ends up anything like the Full Throttle plaza (nothing but flat concrete and no shade) I'm going to be a little bummed they didn't keep some of the old foliage to keep guests out of the scalding summer sun.
