Shut It Down

I’m a little confused when they say Gaurdians of the Galaxy will be “anchoring” the new land. Does this mean it will be the featured attraction? Do you guys think there will be a new ride?

Went to the park today for a couple hours. Hangtime’s station is getting completed very quickly. Being such a dead day me and my girlfriend experienced the finer parts of Knotts. Mystery Lodge’s entrance is amazing, themeing at its best! Mystery Lounge Entrance

Honestly, you went in with too high of expectations on Ghostrider as I did a couple weeks ago. Living in so cal my whole life I was blessed to ride it right when it opened and it was the most insane ride I had ever been on. Over the years it got progressively worse but I still loved it. When I heard of the overlay by gci I thought it was going to back to the insane glory of 1999. I finally got that ride a few weeks ago, in the very back, and sadly just like you was disappointed. I rode today in the front and it was amazing, not like 1999 but an amazing ride. The front made me a believer in Ghostrider again, amazing!!

I finally got to ride new Ghostrider in the front and it was amazing. Way more airtime than the back on all parts other than the first drop. Loved it. In other news the building for Hangtimes exit is getttint a 50’s theme to fit in with Johnny rockets and the roaring 20’s section.

If you have a Cedar Fair platinum pass thru Knotts does it give you free parking at Cedar Point as well?

Go on a June weekday with an 8:00 close. Do NOT go on a May weekday. They'll be understaffed, many rides will open late or not at all and Cedar Point hasn't managed to get all of their coasters ready to operate for the year by opening day since 2013 or 2014. In some cases it took them weeks to get them all running (Wicked Twister in 2015 and Mean Streak in 2016 specifically come to mind). Cedar Point runs like a well oiled machine between Memorial Day and Labor Day but before and after that all bets are off. Since you mentioned airfare: If you're looking for cheap airfare, you don't mind driving a few hours and you're near southern California drive to Vegas and fly Frontier to Cleveland. Just check the site every day and sign up for their email list and you'll be able to fly for like $30 each way per person if you're patient and slightly flexible. Hello, I’m trying to plan my first trip out to cedar Point this year and I’m wondering what the best time to go? I’m coming from California with my girlfriend so I’m trying to figure out the cheapest time to fly and when the crowds are the lightest? Thanks in advance!

I’ve heard many people say different things so I’m curious what the general consensus is regarding Hangtime’s five inversions. Is the fifth inversion considered the turn around over the station or the dive element just after the first drop?

It’s hard to tell from the webcam but the station has definitely gone vertical.

Knotts posted on their Instagram yesterday that Hangtime will still be opening in Summer. I just can’t see how that’s possible considering how far along the ride is. Is Memorial Day weekend considered summer in most theme parks eyes? Even then Memorial Day weekend seems too far off too.

Just out of curiosity, what’s the best seat on Ghostrider?

It looks as though the cobra roll was finished last night on hangtime, leaving only the first inversion left to complete. My guess is vertical construction will be completed by the end of the week. A mid March opening could be a real possibility at this point!

Went to Knott’s today and it was the most crowded I’ve ever seen it. To put it in perspective Jauguar! had waits up to 140 minutes. In other news they were aggressively testing Sol Spin today. It was constantly running throughout the day but never opened. My guess is it will be opening very soon, possibly tomorrow, but then again who knows....

Just out of curiosity does anyone know if there will be any kind of extensive theming for Hangtime? From everything I’ve seen it doesn’t seem like there will be much at all, if any. I was kind of hoping for a surf theme in spirit of Windjammer. The ride sucked but it was themed very nicely.

I just saw on local news that both Knott’s and SFMM are closed today due to rain. I live in Costa Mesa which is about 7 miles from Knotts and it isn’t even sprinkling! Is this normal for them to close due to rain?

I’m definitely intrigued to see the on ride and off ride footage of this ride. It definitely looks like they are spending a lot of money on the Wicker Man effect and I hope it doesn’t disappoint. I like the effort!

Went to Knotts today, got there around 3:30 because me and my girlfriend just purchased 2018 season passes and got a free day in 2017 so why not.Ghostrider, Sol Spin, Xcelerator, and Bigfoot we’re all closed. I knew Xcelerator would be closed but I was bummed Ghostrider was when we got there. Is it normal for them to shut it down later in the day?

Complaining about the ride before you ride it is pretty dumb but the design does kind of make you wonder why they didn’t wrap the ride around the sky tower?? They could have made the drop bigger and steeper while at the same time adding more length to the ride. I’m sure money was a big factor behind the reason they didn’t but it sure would have been cool to see hangtime wrap around the sky tower.

I like this addition to the park for sure. I think this is all setting up for a large coaster in 2019. Between going fully year round and slowly renovating areas of the park they are getting ready for the crowds that Star Wars land will be bringing to so cal. The rumors of Viper getting demolished for a dive coaster are really starting to sound truer and truer. 2019 for their 19th coaster and Cedar Fair pulled a reverse Wonder Woman by advertising Hangtime as the first west coast Dive Coaster in anticipation for what SFMM is going to do. All speculation but sounds good lol
