  1. I read that thread when I need a good laugh. I especially love it when people still suggest a wing coaster, totally ignoring the fact that the chain abandoned building them after X-Flight.
  2. I say flats package. Most of the people at GAH (save for the site admins and a few employees) don't know nearly as much as they like to think they do.
  3. I hope they wouldn't convert the Kissing Tower. You get some amazing views up there and it's nice to take a load off in the cabin on a hot day.
  4. Talon blows Great Bear away. Much better of the two Pennsylvania inverts
  5. They added Talon in 01 and Hydra in 05, and then CF bought the Paramount parks. That acquisition sent Dorney by the wayside, with a few token relocations and water park improvements that are lost on me because I dislike water parks.
  6. Totally forgot they are magnetic gates, and I was just there last week. What the hell is the point of those anyway? Why should I have to push the gate open myself? No one goes to an amusement park to do physical activity.
  7. ^People actually waiting in Talon's air gates? Looks pretty insane to me.
  8. Revisiting this old post. Interesting that I kind of got 2015 right. The park did do Namtab and has begun some general maintenance of buildings. New predictions: 2017: RMC T-Rex on old Chiller site 2018: Justice League 2019: Removal of Bizarro, expansion of Safari 2020: Green Lantern converted to floorless coaster 2021: Flats package
  9. ^ I'm not a local so I can't give you the best answer, but I visited the park on a Friday in October a couple of years ago and the place was pretty empty during the day. Every coaster I rode was a walk-on or station wait.
  10. ^ Ha. That's my most recent coaster as well. Rode it Wednesday.
  11. I accompanied JCoaster to the park today and just wanted to echo the thoughts re: Steel Force. The front row is great, and I was catching major pops of air on all bunny hills. The ride moved itself up from "meh" to "acceptable". Crazy how the air up front doesn't compare to any other row on the train, even row two.
  12. Having a place to sit and relax, take in the atmosphere and just enjoy watching the hustle and bustle of the day just gives me a feeling of calm. The only place I've truly experienced such a feeling is WDW's Magic Kingdom, which it why it is and (probably) always will be my favourite park.
  13. ^ No, I have not. It's very high on my bucket list, but I just don't know when I'll be able to get out to Missouri.
  14. The first time I rode Boulder Dash, it really threatened El Toro in my rankings, and for a while I'd have them ranked as 1 and 1A on my personal lists. But when El Toro is really hauling, IMO it surpasses Boulder Dash. Both of them, however, are head and shoulders above any other wooden coaster I've been on, and probably will be for a long time.
  15. The park's enforcement of their loose article policy fluctuates. Some days they're on the ball, other days no one seems to really care. Been going to the park for years and not once have I been given a problem of putting my phone and wallet in a zipper or button pocket.
  16. I rag on Dorney from time to time, but I agree with Boldikus- I like knowing it's there. I'm going on Wednesday and am really excited. Dorney is the only chance to get on a great ride like Demon Drop.
  17. Having ridden both, I found Titan a hell of a lot better and more interesting than Goliath. Neither is much to write home about, but Titan was much more fun. The two helixes are really intense, nothing like I experienced on Goliath. And both are very smooth.
  18. Clearly not. Most of the responses here have been overwhelmingly negative.
  19. NOOOOOOOOOO. This is devestating news. This makes too much sense. The park would never do anything logical.
  20. A drop tower would be amazing and makes the most sense.
  21. My personal favourite seat on Nitro, whether it be front or back row is the far left seat. On my countless laps on Nitro, that's where I have the most fun. Agree with the others that are saying the back row is the best on the ride.
  22. Pretty bad I figured but how bad? Instead of 10 minute waits, we're looking at 30 minutes? More like instead of 30 minute waits, you're looking at 1 hour+ across the board.
  23. Can't recall exactly how many I've been on but I really like the one at GAdv. My least favourite is the one at SFOT. I call that one "lift hill the ride"
  24. 1. California Screamin-DCA (6072 ft) 2. Steel Force-Dorney Park (5600 ft) 3. Superman/Bizarro-SFNE (5400 ft) 4. Nitro-SFGAdv (5394 ft) 5. Titan-SFOT (5312 ft) 6. Boulder Dash-Lake Compounce (4725 ft) 7. Ghostrider-KBF (4533 ft) 8. Goliath-SFMM (4500 ft) 9. Expedition Everest-DAK (4424 ft) 10. El Toro-SFGAdv (4400 ft) Funnily enough, the two longest coasters I've been on are also two of the most boring rides I've ridden.
  25. Stay in the shade as much as possible, drink plenty of water, and know when to call it quits if the heat gets too unbearable.
