  1. Funny how the SFGA banter has moved over to SFG.......
  2. Some generic advice since that can't be an accurate date: - Thursday crowds aren't usually too bad, but it'll depend on how many school trips there are that day. Good thing is that those usually clear out late afternoon so lines will be shorter in the evening, but if it's your first visit to the park, don't skimp and get a Flash Pass. Totally worth it. - Kingda Ka, front row if it's open. If not, head straight to El Toro for multiple re-rides before lines start forming. Depending on how you feel about Ka, you could go straight to El Toro. Assuming your trip is sooner rather than later, just a couple of the water rides. If you're visiting after Memorial Day, all rides will be open, including most likely Joker. Other advice: back row of Skull Mountain. Always looking for more cult members! April 28, excuse that! - only open (during the week) next week b/c of NY State schools have spring break - NJ schools are in session (had their spring break already) - be there at opening: Ka> Zumi> Toro> Bizarro.....then high tail it to the other side: Batman> Nitro> Skull; you should get those in by 1:00/1:30pm, and take it from there Enjoy!
  3. "Work, work, work, work, work! All I do is....work, work, work, work, work!" My gut says they'll be posted by the end of the day! Glad you had a good trip.....welcome back! And look to take advantage of SFGA being open during the day next week- should be epic walk on coaster time!
  4. I'm excited to hear the details of your visit! DDD has been down every morning I have gone all season. Sadly if you want to avoid the 3-6 hour lines you have to get there first and sit through the hour of downtime that seems to occur every single day (which is not a good way to start off on a ride that has an hourly capacity of 60 people). Was Mind Bender running 2 trains for you? I was there the night before your visit and I was shocked to see 2 train ops but it went down to 1 after just an hour. Really odd. Glad the rest of your visit was enjoyable! Like I said, can't wait to hear more and see the trip report. I missed the fact that you are down in Georgia- that explains why the SFGA board has been so quiet! So I'm confused- you show up there, and didn't run to be the first on "The Joker Chaos Coaster?????" Enjoy your trip- never been to that park.....looking forward to hearing your perspective on it!
  5. My wife just asked me, "Are you seriously going to head to the park today?" My reply- "yup!" Thanks for the info guys! Enjoy for those of you going tomorrow......sunshine + low crowds= greatness! DOUBLE POST!!!! DAMN ME/INTERNET!!!
  6. My wife just asked me, "Are you really going to the park?" Yup! That said- I clicked on this board and that takes care of that!!!!
  7. Yes sir! Sunday am's are a treat! And agreed- take advantage of what YOU want to ride!!!
  8. I live 20 minutes from the park- so no sweat off my back to head over, if it is open.....if I were to get a spin or two on any of the "majors" (Nitro, Toro, Ka), I'm good. That said- leaving for AZ Sunday am, so it's all good!
  9. <------my daughter's birthday weekend, which consists of (12) of her friends sleeping over Saturday night......guess you who may see at SFGA Saturday night???? Add to that the unseasonable weather tomorrow- how can I pass up a park with no one there!!!!
  10. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ YES!!!!!!!
  11. Periods of snow and rain on Saturday- get your waffle ready!
  12. To be clear my comment was a general comment. I did not expressly say anything you said was racist. I would never level an accusation like that on a message board against someone I've never met. Coasterbill I apologize that my generalized comment upset you and/or if you thought I was calling you a racist; again I was not. I do wonder what people mean when they make reference to guest at the park. I'll give two examples 1. The Park Index page. I am not sure what makes the guest awful. Source: http://www.themeparkreview.com/parks/park.php?pageid=45 2. A comment from this message board. I am not sure what "bad" means. Again I said many, never said the totality, I stand by what I said. I have never called anyone out of their name and I have made no accusation that anyone was a racist. Nothing to read into- "bad" was referring to various boards/news reports I've come across. I've never been to this park, so cannot speak to the diversity of who is hired and who goes there....a quick Google search, and what comes up right away are things like: 1) "The teen was punched twice and fell to the ground in the parking lot, striking his head on the concrete, family members said. They proceeded to beat him as he fell back and cracked his skull and was unconscious, they continued to beat him." 2) "Is it true that Six Flags in Largo is a ghetto park? Somebody told me not to go there. Thanks. Yes Six Flags is ghetto. There are lots of gang type people there. They cut in line, and generally make for a threatening unfriendly environment. They curse. You will hear profanity all day long." 3) "The 15-year-old Prince George’s County boy critically injured after fights erupted at Six Flags America on Saturday night may have been the victim of a brawl partly organized by teens on Twitter." Perhaps these are isolated incidents that make the headlines in the news, thus shed bad light on this park, however- that's the reputation it seems to have gained. I will go on record that "bad" clientele was to summarize what I've read- not intended to stir the pot/offend anyone. My initial post on the forum stated that I was enlighten to hear positives about this SF park....and that I may make a trip there to check it out. Let's leave it at that, and move on- as I don't want to get pulled down into anything else that is being posted, especially if some comments are being interpreted as racist. TY
  13. So for me, this park is like "Friday the 13th- Part 52".....you knew it would suck, but had to see it anyway! I've hit all the major parks on the East Coast, and TOTALLY agree that the VA area and south is the place to be- SFA is more about that fact that I've never been, have a SFGA season pass, and like "Friday the 13th- Part 52".....I know it sucks, but I have to see it anyway! Trust me- I'm not going out of my way to get there, based upon all the crappy posts I've read- starting with the "bad" crowd that comes here, lousy staff, etc....I think you get the picture!
  14. Actually closed at 3pm this past Sunday- and yes, for the reasons already posted- high gusts of 50+ mph.
  15. Never bothered to take the 3 hour drive south- perhaps it would be worth a quick visit at some point this year.......
  16. Growing up 15 minutes away from SFGA- if I could go back in time, I'd pick Lightnin' Loops! At the time (as a kid) I LOVED the anxiety of walking (or running if no crowd) up those steps to the top....and when there was a wait, seeing all the "virgins" get nervous waiting, when the staircase would shake due to the launch! Always went "red track" of course (higher of the two loops). Back in the day, this was "state of the art" believe it or not! That said- I guess I can road trip Frontier City if I REALLY wanted to go on it.....and I believe the other loop was scraped.
  17. Make a left from SFGA (Route 527 South)....it is called "Prospertown Lake," located approx. 1 mile down the road, left-hand side (there is a parking lot). No clue on the milkshake that changed your life....
  18. "Coasters & wind-sensitive rides will be closed during high winds. Safari will be closed today"....... So I'll take a pass today!
  19. Some comments on my trip to Hershey Park this weekend (Saturday, April 2nd): - Arrived at the park at 9:30am, and although the park seemed to have a good crowd- no where near what a Saturday in the summer would be like! In terms of the Intamin Collection: - To this day, I still find it amazing how the park can "shove" coasters into their property! - First ride of the day was Fahrenheit (I believe Intamin's one and only vertical lift coaster?).....I enjoyed it! (1st time on it) That said- it was a station walk-on, and if I had to spend 1 hour plus to get on it in the middle of the summer.....perhaps I'd be a little disappointed! I'm surprised that more park's this size/limited space haven't installed any of these? Are they cost prohibited? Is there a competitor that does them better? Capacity issues? - Next, Storm Runner- still lots of fun after "all these years".....I still can't believe that you can walk underneath the launch track; I love the fact that you can stand alongside the launch; how come there are so few of these out there? I believe this was one of the first "Accelerator Coaster with Inversions" made by Intamin?- why aren't there many of them around? I think that they are a lot of fun, and wish my home park (SFGA) had a similar type of ride, to round out their collection - Skyrush- Yes! Yes! Yes!!!!! Couldn't wait, as I have heard SO MUCH about this ride- and I've never been on it! So my thoughts on it? Wait for it, wait for it....... Not open right now......ugh! The woodies: - Overall comment would be that I appreciate the effort in making sure the trains/cars/seats have the most comfortable cars/padded seats as you can get! - Least favorite of the three would be The Wildcat: feels like "such a fight" for the train to get around that track! Certainly better than my 1st ride (pre- Millennium Flyer trains), but overall ride was an ehhhh.....too bad, as the location, 1st drop which is elevated on a hill, layout are all decent - Lightning Racer: I appreciate the design, dual tracks that "interact" with each other, etc......but when it is all said and done, my take on it vs. the "rankings" it receives is way off base- just not my thing I guess (not knocking it so no need to bash/defend please! just sharing my thoughts!!!) - Comet: I thought this was the best of the bunch! (go figure!).....lots of fun, smooth ride! I had low expectations, but clearly they take good care of this thing! The Rest: - Laff Trakk- 5 minute walk-on (it was early in the day!), and I enjoyed this addition! I'm not a "spinning" guy....so the spinning elements were "just right" for me! (and well-done, without making you sick!).....nice addition, but like Fahrenheit, I'd hate to be waiting one plus hour to get on this thing! - The Great Bear: looks like the GP LOVES this thing.....the best part was the mini helix after the lift! The rest of it was "fine".....nice to have in the park, and it maximizes the heck out of the terrain! - Trailblazer: so the longest line (for us) of the day (30 minutes)......and best described by my daughter's friend: when we hit the brakes, she screamed out, "Whhhhatttt? That's it?" Well said! - Sidewinder: no way, not going on it! So my daughter and her friend went on line, I took a "pass" as I learned that there were no free aspirin at the exit! So I am sitting on a bench looking at this thing, and said "the hell with it!" Not too bad of a wait, and when I saw the restraints, I was like "when maybe it won't be so bad!" Props to Hershey for not giving up on this thing, and replacing the trains (since my last visit).....all and all, a pleasant surprise! And no headache! - SooperDooperLooper: like Sidewinder, lots of props to the Hershey for replacing the trains since my last visit.....all in all, an enjoyable ride, for what it is! My daughter (middle school) got a kick out of the loop....kinda' like seeing a payphone or the "yellow pages"- meaning, like- "what was that?" I did my best to explain that "back in the day" there were no such things as loops, well- I sounded old and we ended the conversation! - Wild Mouse: what is there to say? It is a wild mouse, always fun! (especially with no wait!) - Coal Cracker: even though it wasn't the warmest of days (and lots of wind), this was open and we went on it! All good for me..... Flats: - I didn't go on any (my daughter and her friend went on a bunch), but anyone who has been to Hershey knows- this park has a great collection of flats that are well-maintained, and what differentiates the park from others.....when my kids were much younger, this was the perfect park for us! I love how the flats/kiddie rides are dispersed everywhere vs. "one section" of the park, so to say Bottom line: - I love the setting/charm of Hershey - A true family-park, which has the right amount of "thrills" mixed in (and by "thrills".....the right type/level for a family park) - It totally sucks that Skyrush wasn't running at this point in the season (as I highly doubt I plan on heading back to Hershey anytime soon) - Too bad SF doesn't have the ability/capital/revenue stream to keep their parks in this sort of condition - I am amazed how they use every inch of space to maximize everything- especially their Intamin collections!
  20. Staying in "downtown" Harrisburg....what an "interesting" town this is......
  21. As I sit here at this giant disguise of a retail store....mixed in with some who cares "attractions"....looking out the window of some yellow-tracked coaster! Unreal! Sorry I will miss my first ride on this coaster!
  22. Wow! Didn't expect to see El Toro land into someone's unpleasant category!
  23. Guess I'll never feel "that pain".....SMH!
