  1. I like the Cedar Fair maps because they're very nostalgic to me. They've looked exactly the same ever since I was a kid going to Dorney Park around when Steel Force was built and I first fell in love with coasters. I don't really get the complaints regarding navigation at least when it comes to Cedar Point... I pretty much had the layout of the place committed to memory within my first two hours at the park. The whole thing is just a giant loop.
  2. SOLD. I'm in! I love the one at Knoebels, so this sounds like an absolute can't-miss for me. Thanks for the tips! It's very hard to oversell this ride. The views are like looking out the window of a 747.
  3. I just don't understand how people aren't excited about any new coaster being added, let alone one that's rare at this point. Only one has been built so far, just confused here I prefer my coasters to turn left or right at some point.
  4. ^Is that really how it works on Steam? That's kind of hilarious. "Sorry son, you played this beta for 2 hours and 2 minutes, no refunds for you. You took exactly 120 seconds too long to make up your mind."
  5. ^It's the combination of the "sooooooo" and that denotes sarcasm, the second post was clearly just using in response to the first, but the straightforward wording indicates that he genuinely thought the first post was a complaint. Sarcasm 101 thread, I'm starting it now. I will also be starting "Pulling the Stick Out Your Butt 101" as a companion course.
  6. We're seriously having a problem with sarcasm on this forum. There was even the smiley this time and people STILL didn't get it.
  7. Now I'd like them to explain how the f*ck that name slipped through the decision making process.
  8. I think all the RMC conversions have a certain ugly/pretty aesthetic, pretty in an industrial sort of way but yes also kind of ugly. Kind of like old factory buildings. Right now Storm Chaser is sitting in a mostly empty plot of land (because, hate to point out the obvious, but there used to be a roller coaster sitting next to it that is no longer there), but all it would take is some trees and landscaping and I'd really like how it looks.
  9. I don't know what to think of Joker's layout. Isn't it changing from the renderings? Hard to say how that one will ride. Storm Chaser has a simple layout, every element looks incredible and is spaced evenly apart in a very ordered way. It appeals to my OCD side.
  10. Haunted attractions, more than anything else I feel like, are completely inconsistent in terms of experience. Any haunt can be great if you catch the actors at the right time and if the crowd flow is right, and any haunt (outside the very highest budget like in Orlando) can be complete crap if you catch the actors goofing off or the crowds get bottlenecked (or if the wind is blowing all the fog away). So to me it's pretty hard to cast judgement on a haunt for its entire season just based on your own experience.
  11. The only rides RCT could realistically replicate were older woodies with nothing but straight lines and perfectly circular turns, and Arrow hypers with triangle bunny hops. Also any ride where every drop/rise is a perfectly straight ramp. I DO agree that the coaster designer as we saw it was flawed and needed more pre-made track segments, but I also believe they've probably improved it since then and at the very least made it easier to use. The whole point of the beta was to get feedback afterall (which they got plenty of haha).
  12. Well, while it won't look as picturesque as it did sitting right by the ocean, I'm very glad the Pinfari is being saved. Not being a contrarian here, I genuinely enjoyed that ride.
  13. People are really being awful. This video does not look bad. Clearly the person designing this coaster wasn't going for realism, and guess what, neither will most of the people playing the game. The new track creation system apparently tends towards weird rampy rides, just like the old creation system resulted in awkward rides with sharp transitions, but that doesn't mean you can't make better looking rides if you try, and it says nothing about how fun the overall game is. I don't mind how this looks at all.
  14. As excited as I am for this new ride, I am going to miss their old coasters, particularly the looping one. That thing was thoroughly in the "so bad it's good" zone. Had a couple brutal moments to it that I loved.
  15. I feel silly of course because the trains aren't new, just refurbished. I haven't been on the ride so I wasn't very familiar with how they used to look. Still, between the new paint contrasted with the white underneath, and the front of the train being flat, and those headrests, you guys have one weird looking train on your Schwarzkopf. I guess something decorative is still going to go on the front of the train? I can't really see that making it look less weird...
  16. What I've seen custom content wise for RCT3 has gone WAY past anything that could have ever been done for RCT1 and 2. Imported CTRs that look like real coasters with smooth transitions, beautiful CFRs that look just like the real thing. I think it's a true testament to the fact that RCT3 gave us the framework for a kickass theme park sim game, but could have been taken to the next level. But does anyone think RCT3 was actually fun to play? Like as a game, not just as a 3D engine in which to import custom content made in other programs? Visually if you compare vanilla RCT2 versus vanilla RCT3, there's no contest, and gameplay-wise, basically everything in 3 that wasn't a retread was worse.
  17. It does smack a little bit of that, cynical though it may be. "All you have to do is open up any 3D modeling program and do our job for us! Isn't it great?" Well, game developers have already been using their costumers as unpaid beta testers and bug finders, I guess this is just the next logical step.
  18. People are seriously overstating things around here. Here's a perfectly nice video about something that should appeal strongly to the hard-cores around here, the ability to fully customize the game, but instead of being praised the creators are said to be "failing miserably" for literally no reason. I suppose it's just a coincidence that RCTW videos/updates usually occur when a Planet Coaster update occurs? So what if it's not? All that means is they're watching their competition, which I'm sure the Planet Coaster team is as well. Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the update itself.
  19. Jesus christ. Sarcasm. I had an "amazing" time last year. "But neil009 why do you ever go if you hate it?" Because El Toro. Ok moving on
  20. See, that's the thing. I don't like the park. I tend to go every other year at the most. Given the amazing experience I had last year, I hope to abstain for 2 years this time, maybe 3. No one has any reason to care about this but you did ask.
  21. I guess I'm the only one a little bummed this isn't coming to SFGAdv. Namtab was also something that killed capacity and was super gimmicky and everybody seemed pretty stoked about that. Yes capacity will be a nightmare, yes it will only be worth doing once or twice, yes there may be (gasp!) assigned seating, but gosh darn it it's awesome and different and I'm totally willing to make the trip just to try it. Heck, I'd be more excited for this then I am for the new coaster. As it is you're not getting me anywhere near SFGAdv this year.
  22. I didn't know the Oculus actually has a lower resolution. I wonder if they've found a way around the "screen door" problem. Honestly in the future, I think this is totally a viable concept that could be really awesome. That's why I'm excited to try it, it's so futuristic. For the next generation I'm imagining a train with a headset attached to the headrest on a hinge so you can easily pull it on and off like on an X wing: That would be SICK
  23. I feel like everyone really WANTS this game to be the savior of the theme park sim genre, therefor they're looking at everything that comes out through rose-tinted glasses. If you're like me and actually really hated RCT3, you don't have that much more reason to be hopeful about this than RCTW, just based purely on what we know so far (aside from the coaster editor which really does look better). Any time I see people playing RCT3 now, the screenshots are filled with things that weren't in the original game. I haven't seen that much justification for why the vanilla game wasn't a steaming pile, which I always kind of thought it was.
  24. I haven't tried the Oculus Rift but it has a wider field of vision, higher refresh rate, and overall better performance. I'm guessing it will easily be the better experience. I really wasn't that impressed with the Gear VR. I feel like if anything, its shortcomings may make it more prone to motion sickness because it's more "claustrophobic" feeling and there's more disparity between what your eyes are seeing and your body is feeling.
