  1. why did SFGadv on kingda ka stop using all 4 loading/unloading stations? and where is the 4th train. TTD runs 5 trains, and the line moves much faster .
  2. not surprised, beautiful day, concert, memorial day weekend, season pass holder bring a friend free day.
  3. I remember hearing a stat a few months ago, that once Universal in Florida add Harry Potter a few yrs ago, the attendance climbed at least 30%.
  4. I rode ka 9 times on fri and 4 times on sat. I rode TTD opening weekend this year, and TTD is definitely smoother.
  5. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/25/nyregion/got-nerves-of-steel-meet-the-thunderbolt-roller-coaster.html a ride on the thunderbolt is going to cost $10. that's expensive
  6. TTD and MF I have no problem with the lap bar, it was the seatbelt that just made it. On toro I don't have a seatbelt problem, it's the lap bar. They usually have to give it a little push. As for wicked twister, didn't ride it. But I rode possessed at Dorney. And the attendant had to squeeze me in.
  7. I've ridden nitro so many times. No biggie. My goal was ka. Lol.
  8. correct, just wasn't in the mood for anything else, I have ridden the other coasters so many times, was no reason to ride any of the others. and even when they started testing ka, it wasn't that crazy of a line.
  9. well I just got home from the park today. my whole opjective today was to get some rides on el toro first thing in the morning and wait till kingda ka opened. got to the park at like 9:30, made it in pretty quick through security, and they opened the gates at 10am to the rope, at 10:20, let season pass holders in, walked to el toro and got on 5 rides in under 30min. headed over to ka, and waited till aprox about 5pm to finally let us walk to ka. from whenever they opened to 8:30 when I left , I got 9 rides on ka. it did break down 2 times wheil I was on it, got stuck at the launch area, and they backed us off to unload, and my last ride at 8:30, and then it started to rain. due to summer right around the corner, I dodnt think I will be making any more trips till fall. one last note, being I was at cedar point a few weeks ago for opening weekend, dragster is definitely a better ride, way smoother, no shoulder restraints, and the sound effects and racing lights. also, SFGradv needs to invest in some paint, the blue track supports on the hill are so faded, and new signs in the que, they are faded as well. its definitely not as well maintained as TTD at cedar point.
  10. that's all? just 2? so when is it opening? fri? sat? They could also be testing the ride at night time and the crew was being trained on the ride on Tuesday and Wednesday so it had to make test runs then. I heard someone at minetrain said the ride opens Friday. that's what I heard from a operator from mine train say when I was at the park on sunday. but I haven't heard six flags post anything yet on the website or facebook yet.

  12. Hate to Double Post, But; It would be better to get a gold pass. Also the difference between regular and preferred you just pay to difference. Depending on which park you buy it from, It will pay for itself with 1 visit. Also if you pay with Discover (Not spamming!), You can get 5% off the cost. You can also get into some parks earlier with the Discover/Gold Pass line. I know for a fact that the 10 min in the park early at SFGadv is a complete JOKE. they let you in 10 min early and 0 rides are running. how about take a page from Cedar Point or Disney and open up a hr early and have some rides open at least. and when I went this past sunday, all the non season pass holders just lifted the ribbon up and walked in 10min early too and security couldn't stop the mass people from doing it.
  13. That's how you know your in a six flags park. Very little maintenance and up-keep
  14. I just spent 4 hrs in the park with my sister, brother in law , niece and mom. The visit was for my 3yr old niece who loved all the kids rides. I did ride 3 coasters, el toro first train of the day which opened up about 10 min late, bizarro and mine train. The mine train op made a announcement after our ride that kingda ka is opening Friday and to come back to ride. That's great news. The parking lot was very crowded when we left at 3pm.
  15. dodnt forget sunday is also one of the weekends a season pass holder can use the e-coupon to bring a friend free. that might affect crowds
  16. yes they were open, got to the park at 5pm, they closed a hr early(7pm) got 2 hrs of coasters in. all walk on's. was a very lite drizzle here and there while I was in the park.
  17. why let the GP know the ride is not opening memorial day weekend. it will hurt attendance. and stock holders don't like that
  18. the only thing I caught from the TV's on opening day were a few trivia questions. the weight of one of the coasters lift chain. what year cedar point opened. after that I just tuned them out.
  19. sunday, Millennium Force, cedar point,
  20. I just stayed 3 nights for opening weeeknd at the motel 6 in huron for $37 a nite. the room was clean and refurbished. cant beat that price.
  21. cant believe today, the 11th, is 30 yrs since the haunted castle fire.
  22. When I walk into a very clean park with several 25 million dollar plus rides and lots of fairly happy employees, I don't think walmart. When I am paying $8 for fries and $35 for a sweatshirt, I do not think Walmart. Have you ever worked for either Walmart or Six Flags? If so, I would love to hear some real reasons why Six Flags is anything like walmart in anyway shape or form. Honestly, how much more complex of a lighting package do you need on the ride? Top Thrill Dragster has essentially the same exact thing and I have never heard any complaints. There are homes within 10 feet of the park's borders and an airport a few miles away. I doubt either of those would really appreciate a thousand lights on a 456ft tall structure. There is a difference between practical and cheap. If a single spotlight is all you need to do the trick, than I wouldn't call having just that "cheaping out". I don't understand all of the sudden Gadv hate. Yeah, the park is going through some growing pains rights now and has some weird dead ends, but in reality its got one the best collections of rides out there and a fairly nice atmosphere. Golden Kingdom and PDC are two of the nicest areas in any Six Flags or Cedar Fair parks out there. Both cost a fortune and nobody wants to bring them up when comparing the park to Walmart. End rant. I feel the park lacks details, such as theming on many of the rides, or had them, and let them go to crap like the following year. and out the 3 parks I have been to this season so far, its by far the dirtiest. that's why I consider them like walmart. and yes, I worked a handful of season at SFGadv in the 1990's in rides.
  23. According to Great Adventure history, Kingda Ka's original "lighting package" was a floodlight on a picnic table pointed up at the tower. Wow. That is so Walmart like.
