I'm almost positive tomorrow is that Bring a friend for 15 bucks day or something along those lines. I'd probably assume it'd be pretty packed. However it's also mothers day. -

I'm not there but I'm getting updates from my friend in my wind quintet. He said things are moving pretty smoothly with the exception of minor things like an illness on mantis and a brief breakdown on mean streak. Not a whole ton of info, but I'll relay more as it goes. -

Ive ridden in every row and found 3-1 and 6-4 to be my favorite seats. However we ended up in row 4 once yesterday and I felt like I was inside a paint mixer for a few minutes. Was pretty disappointing. Im just glad the coaster rattling in the back is mostly gone. 1, 8, 6, and 3 are smooth as silk. -

Great bear is in my top 10 for a reason. The whole thing in itself isn't a typical B&M invert kind of design that you'd see usually. I loved it from top to bottom. Ended up moving my total Banshee count today to 81. ERTs line was... significantly bigger then I'd expected. Did anyone else find that line to be unreasonably big for this event? I know most people in Cinci probably have gold passes, or a huge chunk of them, but I'd never expected that many people to be there tonight. I took one ride and left. Anyone there the whole time that can elaborate if the line moved quickly, at least? There were a decent chunk (3 or 4?) of difficulties earlier in the day with the ride. Hopefully it didn't happen later on. -

Also, when it was around I hated Villian at Geauga Lake. Woof. -
Worst Coaster Ever?

Actually, same here. Corkscrew, Meanstreak, even Hades (haven't ridden 360) are all ok for me. Invertigo, especially backwards, leaves me thinking 'k well thats over for the day...' -

I'll second that, the rattling is basically gone. I did feel it the slightest big in the back row on the dive loop. Otherwise smooth as silk. Dumb question. ERT tomorrow on Banshee and Bat from 1030pm to Midnight. Huge chance of storms. I'll be there anyways, but what happens if it really gets rained out? Cancel ERT, move the date, move it to FOF? Any past riders have experience with this? I'd assume it'd get moved at the very least. -

If its anything like MI ADV, its going to take forever just like you'd said. Pain in the rear. But I mean, I guess its for the best? How does the monster look in person? -

Well not that this is a super reliable source. But I'd like to see some of the new restraints on Banshee put into raptor or something along these lines. Not a big change, but a little touch up. -

She's warmed up a lot. It's the most evident on the zero-g roll, where there used to be a bit of hang time all the way into the middle of the train and now even the front seat whips you around. Seconded. The transition from the last vertical loop into the heartline roll move quite a bit faster as well imo. -

Nah its not bad at all. Not usually at least. I'll be there the 12-14th- anyone else headed over? Usually Ill get there as it opens, right then. I go in a line starting right- it varies sometimes. I'll get the smaller ones out of the way first, in order. WT, Bluestreak, Raptor if the lines below 30 which at that point its a toss up). Move down the midway to ID, Mantis, then go back to Corkscrew, PT, Dragster if the lines under 45, Magnum, Gemini, Meanstreak, CFMR/Maverick. Maverick will take some time. Then keep looping to millennium, mantis if you didn't do it before, etc. I spend most of my time between MF and Mantis after I make the full loop, depending on time which I theres usually plenty of, I might loop backwards again and hit a few favorites. Then I head back down the main midway and get raptor if I didnt before, then Gatekeeper. I've been doing it like this for years (without gatekeeper, clearly) and its proved to give me plenty of time to double up on quite a few things. Usually I'll triple up on mantis and double MF or Magnum at the middle/back of the park. Then double GK if time allows at the end of the day. I always go monday or thursday as well, never saturday the place will be a total madhouse. Another good bet is to leave the coasters out in the first round that have lots of food places around them, specifically raptor and MF to an extent. Around dinner time the links deteriorate considerably, so save a favorite for that as well. -

Just out of curiosity, what do you particularly like about Mean Streak? And what makes Mantis, of all coasters, your #1 steel coaster? Excuse me for getting off topic. Hey Password, I'll PM sometime soon, and not congest this thread. Sometime tonight. -

Maybe we should focus on the part of my post that seems to be overlooked. On a completely separate note that hopefully won't start something a bit awkward, is anyone going to be there the night of the 9th for ERT on Banshee and Bat? -

Like I'm sure many other have as well, I've wondering what it could turn into if RMC turned it into an Iron Horse model. It might not be as nuts as some of the others, but it'd be interesting to see. However I wouldn't actually prefer that to happen, I like the beast as it! It was just screechy this past weekend. Can't change the classics. I feel the same way about Mean Streak. I like it as it, infact its a favorite woodie of mine. -

The whole place looks great, really like the colors of monster and the lights over the midway will be a nice touch. I'm an agreement about the squeeze between PS and Monster though, we'll see what happens with that. -

Seconded on the Diamondback comments. Theres nothing taken away from the experience from the seat belts but the crew is moving a lot slower. A lot of people friday morning didnt even put the seat belts on and the restarts had to be released again so the Ops could help the passengers with the belts. The Beast does make an awful sound now, but I noticed it in the first half of the ride too, only when the ride is banked and turns right, which is odd considering the helix at the end is left. But the screeches where really REALLY bad yesterday, oddly enough with a less full train. At night/dusk when the ride was running full loads it seemed less bad. I'm not sure why that is. Drop Zone is broken and should be up in june. My good friend from CCM works at the park and theres something messed up with the cable inside the tower, and they're working on getting it fixed asap. When she asked people they'd said mid june but can't give an exact date. Not going anywhere! Do any other KI employees care to shed light on this? -

Same here. Took a KI newbie there today and put him on it 7 times and he loved it, literally everything about it. I think I was around there when there was that stacking, or it could of been another time. With that small exception everything on that coaster was moving like lightening today, was great to see. -
Own a Park or Design the Rides?
DevinC049 replied to djboss302's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Design by far. Working with a different chunk of land and different scenarios all the time would suite me over operating a park. All kinds of odd things will pop into my head with quite a few 'what ifs' and 'but if they did ___.' -

YES PLEASE on the flat ride! Good points all on removing excalibur. Honestly when I went I quite enjoyed the ride, but for the reasons you listed it does make sense for it to be the one to go. They can do quite a bit in that area as EC doesn't really uses is space too well with its layout either. I really don't mind arrow coasters at all, and for a CS I quite enjoy the one at VF, and don't think EC is too bad either- however you all make great points with EC running one train, opening late, closing early, etc. Makes sense. I do like the idea of the location next to CS for the invert though. I think closer to the front of the park might be a better idea, especially because renegade is so far back. Putting the two 'newest' coaster by each other, per says, seems like it'd draw too much attention to the back of the park, yeah? -
Storm Runner, Fereinheit, Hydra the Revenge, I305, Annaconda, and the new Lightening Run at KK looks pretty interesting. These parks are all within about 8 hours of driving and I can't get out there which makes them seem so much higher on the list. Otherwise... Helix. Anything at 6FMM. T express. Iron Rattler. Great Americas new Goliath. Oziris. and any Intamin Ball coaster... need one of those credits.

With all this I've been trying to find something that bridges both ideas. This is a long shot but I was thinking along the lines of another puesdo interactive water coaster or coaster with a water element. Something with RollerSoaker at Hershey or maybe a B&M with a watersplash element. Because the footprint would be so small, I was looking at the park map and was thinking maybe something might fit if there was something that started by Excalibur, moved down along the left side of the water park and had a turnaround down by the umbrellas by the wavepool- 3 and4 on the park map. Somewhere in there maybe having a brief water splash element to bridge the gap of coaster and waterpark and slowly having it move back up by excalibur. Granted the out and back design would have to be close to each other when the train heads back to the station- almost like gatekeeper were the two halfs of the ride are almost on top of each other, but I think it could be a pretty decent idea. A longshot I know. Also they'd need to make a small lagoon for the watersplash anyways. Then a way to get people over there. Maybe have the element a dive loop and put the splash at the bottom or a batwing/pretzel loop with something at the bottom. Thats probably tough to do with a pretzel with things reducing speed, but I'm just spitballing. Also I don't think I've ever seen a BM floorless looper with a watersplash. This is my 'pre finals' thinking. Pardon me if that sounds a bit out there or impossible, but who know what could happen. -

Some really, really nice pics in there. Loved the sunset pics of Vortex which is one of my favorite coasters- Oddly enough theres a special place in my heart for getting banged around on a arrow. I too was wondering about the Drop tower for opening weekend.. hopefully it'll be open this weekend.
