La Ronde Discussion Thread
Password121 replied to Skyscraper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No. That is a fanboy/speculation video (nothing wrong with speculation, just saying) and is not confirmed. The locations of the 2016 RMC coasters are already known, and La Ronde is not one of them. Videos such as the one you linked are complete speculation--he used to be a poster on these forums months ago. -
Happy to share at this point in time! In May of 1975, Frontier Forest opened with eight attractions, including... Timber Mill Mine Train, Log Flume, Sky Ride, Carousel, Big Wheel, Dodgems, Scrambler and Swan Boats. At this point in the 1999 season, seven of these are still operating in the park. Upon initial park planning and early phases of construction, the following types of attractions were planned, but were not built for the debut season of Frontier Forest. -Antique Cars -PTC family wooden roller coaster -An Enterprise -Waveswinger -Train around park property -An unknown dark ride attraction -Schwarzkopf WildCat Additional plans included a much longer Flume style attraction as well as the construction of an indoor theater/show venue. Many of these attractions were built in some form years after the 1975 grand opening. Some say the "family wooden roller coaster" plans were kept, but grew to a much larger scale, soon becoming the Forest Flyer.

All in the name of progress Thank you! Batman, Nemesis Inferno and Talon were primary sources of inspiration for Tempest. The turn of the millennium was absolutely a time of incredible expansion in the theme park industry. From the looks of it, this "boom" may not pass over Frontier Forest. Stay tuned.

You're looking at it from different perspectives. From my time visiting parks (which has been limited), I usually wait out the lines as most of the parks I visit are relatively nearby. My family is well enough off that we could afford a Flash Pass once in a while, but we are frugal and realize there are more I portent things--especially when I can visit another day. The only time I have used a skip the line pass was on my first ever visit to Cedar Point. I had about eight hours in the park total, and had been anxiously anticipating the trip for months on end. I would never pay to skip lines at a park I visit more than once every few years, however, and Cedar Point was an exception. In that case, I felt it was worth it.

That defeats the purpose of the "dive" gimmick--looking over the drop with the holding brake. -

Maybe it's just me... Never have I seen a poster on enthusiast forums that is against the addition of giga coasters to major parks. The above poster has explicitly stated his opinion multiple times--like in his signature. And his above post. -
I must be missing something here. Are you suggesting one side launch forward and the other side launch backwards? There is only one train if I recall correctly. Wouldn't they need to turn it around each time? How are a they supposed to do that? A turntable like Thomas the Tank Engine? Think that might cut into capacity at all? Woah woah slow down... dual loading station. Platform moves to load one side while the other operates.

Is $61.99 really the cheapest single day summer ticket Hershey offers? Is there anywhere else to find more reasonable admission? I was hoping to make a day trip at some point this summer, but I'm not sure it's worth the price at that mark, considering I'm only there for the coasters (I specidfied because I realize Hershey offers more than just coasters, which may be the cause for the price of admission). -
Before I return to the storyline of the park, I'd like to thank everyone for the excellent feedback. Those that have attempted a park comparable (or likely better than) Frontier Forest probably have experienced frustrations similar to mine. The progression of the park can be difficult at times given how much work is constantly being done in terms of details, building, park operations, budgeting, and most importantly, planning. Thankfully I've finished the school year strong, taken my last set of SAT's, and become motivated enough to continue park-making (along with some inspiration from the summer park-season--which may be seen throughout the final years of the storyline). And with that, Frontier Forest is back in action (for now)! Kicking things off with a concluding update for the 1999 season, we find ourselves overlooking Frontier Forest in September, 1999. Enjoy the ride from here on out. Just announced--Dodgems will not return for the 2000 season. Be sure to get one last ride on this park favorite before it crashes into the history books. Why, you might ask? Although the park has not explicitly stated its replacement, one can imagine... The last time a construction area so large went up... well, that was the fall of '97 Park overview. September, 1999.

An RMC is already out of the question for 2016. Alan Schilke stated three projects for 2016--all of the project sites have been revealed in a job listing. -

A 252 foot record breaking DIVE MACHINE isn't enough for one year??? This is aimed directly at you but this whole discussion is eye rolling because even how is a surely unique and awesome dive machine barely enough or not enough for one year. Especially since you have just gotten 1.5 coasters in the last three years. Not just the GP but i'm sure 99% of coaster enthusiasts would be more than satisfied with this. I know this is CP but this is still pretty ridiculous. You're really misunderstanding his post. By "something more," the poster you just tried to bash is intending to say "something greater," or "better," not "in addition to a Dive machine." -

For the regulars--is a $65 groupon for two tickets the best deal you can find? Planning on visiting Thursday, July 2nd. I've heard crowds can be light the week before a holiday--is Thursday still early enough in the week for this to apply? Planning on being there open to close. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread

What? I was going to say the same thing. You might remember his Carowinds TR a few weeks back (with the debate about souvenir purchases). If I recall correctly, his idea of "rough" is different than the majority of people. Although I have no idea how Thunder Road can be smooth for someone who considers a brand new B&M giga coaster "rough." Never said that, and I did NOT write a trip report from a few weeks back. Not sure how this quote got attributed to me, but I never said or wrote that. It should be attributed to certifiedcoastergeek Yes, that is whom I was referring to. I aplogize for the misquote. -

Any word on when Devin Olson's Fury 325 documentary might be released? For those that don't know his channel, he's made some great coaster documentaries--Gatekeeper, Outlaw Run, Verbolten, etc. I remember hearing he was planning on releasing one for Fury. -
RMC has only built seven roller coasters. I think you're getting ahead of yourself to say it's been "a while" since a large ejector hill on an RMC--they've onky been a thing for four years. As for the inversions, the exact same discussion took place when rumors were spreading about Colossus' transformation. I haven't read a single poor (or even average) review of that ride. Which RMC coasters are you referring to when you say they are "overdone" with inversions? Wicked Cyclone has he most, and it only has three. None of them seem out of place, and from what I've heard only add to the experience and make the ride more unpredictable. The New Texas Giant is the only RMC without inversions, so I think it's very safe to assume there will be at least one, but is that really a bad thing? I have more faith in RMC to make Roar one of the better coasters in the world; at the very least, far superior to what it is today. If you genuinely believe Roar as it stands today will be a better ride experience than an I-box iteration, you need to rethink your life decisions

Cedar Fair Season Pass questions
Password121 replied to Password121's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks guys. To be clear--Platinum passes are free parking and discounted friend tickets at all Cedar Fair parks, gold passes are just for the park purchased. Am I understanding correctly? -
Hey all, a few questions I have about Cedar Fair season passes, as well as some trip planning advice. I couldn't find a topic that answered these questions, and I *think* this is the best forum section for help. In early July I'll be making the 1.5 hr drive down to Kings Dominion. I'll be at the park one day alone, the next day with my bro, who's just outside of Richmond. Then, later in July, I'll have the opportunity to take a day at Carowinds along with my parents. At this point, I'm deciding between a gold pass and a platinum pass, and which park I can/should purchase at. I'll just list the questions that come to mind here... -Is free parking valid at all parks for gold? I believe it is for platinum. -Can I use discounted friend tickets at any CF park, or just the "home" park? If so, for both passes (gold and platinum)? -Do I have to process the pass at the park it is purchased for? ...if not, any reason to buy KD's gold pass over Carowinds'? Carowinds gold passes are cheaper Are there any notable discounts/upgrades for platinum passes not listed, like free or discounted Fast Lane passes? Thanks for the help, and if things work out I may update with trip planning questions in the coming weeks for Carowinds.

I think it's logical and reasonable to assume the "end" of the sign will pertain to an announcement. Otherwise, why wait and build anticipation over the following additions to the sign for nothing? ...also, the sign does say "this legacy will continue here at the roller coaster capital of the world." Meaning, "in this inconspicuous, fenced off construction zone that we refuse to say why we removed/relocated multiple rides for no apparent reason at all." -

Probably. But I think it's all but confirmed that Kings Dominion's next coaster will be a hyper, no matter when it comes. I disagree wholeheartedly. In fact I think there has been not one clue about Kings Dominion's next coaster. And the garbage about the background on their site has been shot down repeatedly. -

^Not enough space for a B&M hyper there. Generally, those rides require long, skinny stretches of land. It also may not be the best idea to place your new "hyper" coaster next to an older ride that dwarfs it. The term "hyper" coaster is coined by the coaster being larger than others. -
You already asked a very similar question a few days back--the answer is still absolutely yes, just as safe as any regional theme park. Anyone who answers otherwise hasn't visited since ~2007. Yeah, I'm one of the few who like Mind Eraser. First or second seat FTW! Apocalypse sucks bad. I want to like it, but just can't. I've had some decent rides on both, but mostly just terrible experiences with headbanging (and some insane shuffling on Mind Eraser). If I had to choose one, I'd ride Apocalypse--although both are in the bottom five coasters I've ridden.
