^^ Believe the hype. I am a complete and total back seat rider, since *most* coasters offer a more extreme ride back there (Hey Toro, Skyrush... how are yas?!) and also because the wait is never as long as the front. Anytime I am riding a coaster for the first time I always go for the back, if I like the ride a lot I'll try it all over the train if I can to feel the differences in forces, and if I can get on the front without waiting I'll eventually do that. The first time I was at Dorney when we did SF, as usual we went right for the back, and we came into the brake run giggling about finally understanding the 'Steel Forceless' ribbing. Great first drop but absolutely nothing the rest of the ride. This was late in the day, full train. Nothing. Bunnyhills on the return = naptime. BUT later that night we came back around for another lap and decided to try it in the front (we actually went row two because of lesser wait, behind two tiny little girls so we had wind in our face and a perfect view ahead of us) and we were blown away by the difference. Then after being able to marathon SF @ C4Ks all over the train this year, including multiple rides in the front and back row, confirmed for me it is definitely a front seat ride. Night and day.

Wildcat is not that bad, one of those I got off wondering why everyone hates it so much. -
We were able to ride it all over the train - in fact instead of having us sit out a lap like they did early in the day, by the time we got to SF they were just making us move seats but stay on the same train. So we were just jumping on anywhere but we got a few front seat rides and they were absolutely the best. Any of those first three rows were great.

I can kind of get why people say its forceless, because if you ride anywhere but the front car its a fairly mild ride, especially the further you get back in the train. The first drop is nice in the back car, but after that its snoozeville sitting back there. But in the front car its great, even the drop because I like that it has that slight pause and you kinda hang there for a second. I really grew a new appreciation for Steel Force after doing it a bunch during Coasting For Kids in June - after riding it a ton that day it advanced considerably in my rankings.

Thrill Factor - New Travel Channel Show

^^ I find most of these shows have super irritating hosts but I'll admit these two weren't as bad as the guy that's on the Epic Thrills gig on Sundays. -
^ ^ I don't think its so much "better" as much as "BIGGER" and by that I don't mean literally just something that will make a big splash. I mean for starters the chains slogan is "GO BIG!" and the park itself has the tallest (and 2nd fastest) coaster in the world, tallest drop ride, the number 1 woodie, and one of the best hypers ever built. Not to mention the first floorless, one of the tallest standups, a huge star flyer, SORA, etc etc etc. And we got a Super Loop last year. A free spin, even this so called larger model, just doesn't scream "GO BIG! GO SIX FLAGS!", "BIGGEST THEME PARK IN THE WORLD!", "HUGE AMAZING PARK TO RIDE THE CRAZIEST RIDES EVAAAR!" to me. It seems like a good fit for the 2nd tier of SF parks, but not for what should be a big year for one of the chains flagship parks. And certainly not for the space its going in - a centerpiece attraction right at the end of Main Street in front of their newly cleared out and spruced up lakefront.

It was one of the better park/ride related shows with more of a focus on the technical side of things which I liked, but the hosts are kind of douchey imo. Also, it absolutely solidified Busch Gardens Tampa as one of the top 5 parks I want to visit. That place looks so awesome to me. -
You Might Be A Coaster Nerd If....
boldikus replied to PCW_Nut's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
... you purposely start sitting on the wheel seat in the back of the bus during the morning commute to anticipate a nice pop of sideways airtime as the driver careens around that corner and over that giant pothole, again, like clockwork, as he does every day. And everyone around you is holding on for dear life while you're riding a city bus with your hands up at 8am. OR ... you get bummed out when said driver doesn't make the light and the bus simply crawls over the pothole. -

I read this aloud as "Thunder Hater Hawk 232" which made me think it was sad there isn't already a coaster w/ that name. -

Something to think about (and this is coming from a 20 year DJ speaking from a music background, I also have worked in real estate marketing for 9 years): leaks can be quite a benefit, many companies have realized this and will even go as far as leak info/music/plans/whatever on their own to generate buzz. It's a really great marketing tool. Now, I'm not saying at all that CP did it themselves but its not a new concept for a leak to happen on purpose for publicity. Its interesting that when Dollywood was about to make their really big deal announcement, the CP plans leaked. Just by looking at this forum, the CP thread has stayed just as much if not more active as the DW thread (same on other forums), so by leaking the info (OR it being leaked by someone) BUT then not confirming/saying anything, CP is keeping enthusiasts salivating and the GP talking about/speculating if the plans are in fact true. In marketing, while the big reveal is your "moment", what you really want is people talking about your product, and as loudly and favorably and often as possible. CP is killing the game with that right now if you ask me. -
The park should just make us the advisory board. Tell us how much money we have to work with and we'll vote on what should go in lol. How awesome would that be though? And yes, I know I'm all on that Premier launcher lean but I would totally prefer a B&M winger over a freespin. I've only ridden Gatekeeper and I know the general consensus on it but I thought it was great fun. Personally I'm just a little B&M fatigued if that's possible.

The irony of this is that with the lines they get, you could've ridden all of the coasters, & most of the flats, with re-rides and then some in less than 3 hours. -
To be clear about the merge points, it not reeeeally a station merge @ Toro and Ka, its more of a merge to a short path, up the steps and into the station. If the merge point attendant is not on point (hehe) this path/steps could add another 10 or so minutes. Just saying. On Nitro the FP line has its own steps that lead right into the station right to the back row (where you should sit anyway) and Zumanjaro the FP line leads right into the station same place as the standby does, they just seem to alternate between three lines (don't bother with the SRL it DOES NOT MOVE).
