  1. ^^ Okay, I'm just gonna ask it -- how on Earth will you manage driving a car?? Oh wait.....you might be okay, since the seat belts are on the side.....I don't think even you could sit on those ones!

Seeing these pages upon pages of worry over seat belts led me to chime in, since we just visited the park on Saturday. I rode Diamondback twice, so let me confirm what some others have said already - the ride experience is EXACTLY THE SAME!!!! Great floaty airtime just like before. There is seriously no difference whatsoever. Quite frankly, I didn't even notice the belts at all during the ride. I did get pretty lucky though, looking back, as I somehow avoided sitting on those tricky things. Phew! As for dispatch times, they were maybe a smidge longer, but if they were, it really seemed minimal. The line seemed to be moving at a steady clip just like it did the last time we visited in 2009. Sometimes they'd stack a train, sometimes they wouldn't. Overall, the point I'm really making is this is nowhere near the big deal that some folks are making it out to be.

Other random notes from our visit:

    * Banshee still kicks all sorts of A$$!! It might even be my favorite invert. The pacing through and between elements really is perfect. And I so love how steep that first drop is! Also, I got a night ride on it (the park was awesome and reopened it after a breakdown at about 10:15, which was technically past park closing, so people waiting could still get their night ride in!), and it was INSANE. Flying through the course, and the forces after the drop down the hill were VERY strong!! Love, love, LOVE this coaster!! Seriously folks, get out there and ride Banshee.....it won't disappoint!

    * This park really does have a lot of good and fun coasters! Racer is great, Flight of Fear is a blast, and I even have a soft spot for Backlot Stunt Coaster and Adventure Express.

    * Had easily the BEST ride I have ever had on The Beast, and the first pitch-black one to boot! I'd say that ride elevated it a smidge for me. It was tearing through the course and was very smooth. That ending helix is still money! Still not a fan of the brakes that randomly break up the pace though. But overall, I'd say it bumped up to a 9/10 ride for me.

    * Seriously, if you're coming (like us) from out of town on a weekend, Fast Lane Plus is the only way to go!! Waits for most major coasters were at least 90 minutes throughout the day, and many hit 2 hours at various points. Our longest wait (not including a couple breakdowns) was maybe 5-10 minutes for Beast. Absolutely 100% worth every penny!!

    * Still missing the Invertigo credit, as it suffered a fairly long breakdown when we were looking to ride it with riders stuck at the top of one of the lifts. I'm not sure how long they were up there, but it was at least 15 minutes while we were in that general area. So, apparently it's not just Stinger at Dorney with problems like this regarding this ride!

All in all, it was a picture perfect and gorgeous day with a nice leisurely pace and plenty of riding (thanks to Fast Lane!) as we enjoyed the park with some friends of ours. I really have to say that I am a pretty big fan of Kings Island. I never visited the place under Paramount, but I can't help but think that Cedar Fair has done some great work on the park and made it just a notch below Cedar Point for nicest park in Ohio.

WAIT YOUR TELLING ME THAT THE SEAT BELTS DID NOTHING TO THE RIDE?? Wait I heard that when they added them they also made the ride length shorter and the lift hill about 100 feet shorter. - I'm done.

As mentioned earlier about making a segment on "fun tv", I really which amusement parks almost made it a tv channel. As an example: have extremely absurd instruction videos, have a pov, have a mini series come up, possible even throw in a park challenge or something (not the quizzes)

Ok now that we have this seat belt crap fully discussed about the ride experience, can we please get back to the good stuff? Like how Banshee is awesome, or future park expansion, or the thoughts on the daily meal pass?

  2. How do you not sit on the buckle?

There is a piece of buckle on each side.

They don't just magically remove themselves when you sit down, and I can't move them out of my way.

Idk, I'm sounding dumb. It might be easier to buckle since it is an open air seat, but I always have problems with wooden coaster buckles. You have to hold up both buckles before you can sit down, without sitting on one.

This belongs in one of those informercial "you're doing it wrong" segments, where they show people incapable of doing every day tasks.

I want to see a re-enactment along these lines: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08xQLGWTSag

Yes!! Can we please get this together? Talk to kings island about using it on their "fun tv" segments! Lol

    Quoting this a third time.

Humans have two hands, you know.

Yes, the topic of my hatred of non retractable seat belts is over. Let's get on the topic of Kings Island, and not me and Diamondbacks seat belts.

-amen! Who wants to start the speculation for 2015? Just Kidding!

  4. I hate when parks don't let you re-ride a coaster when the train comes back to the station and there's nobody waiting for your row. This is especially true when it's the end of the night and the next train will end up being the last train and it's not even close to being full.

At Lake Compounce we were riding Boulder Dash at the end of the night and they let us re-ride once because our row was empty and then they sent that train twice because we were cheering when we got back to the station (this wasn't a coaster group, just regular park guests). That's a great way to end the night at a park and it guarantees that the people on that train will leave happy and will want to come back.

I agree, re-rides! I don't understand why a park will not all the train to be sent full. I am 99% of the time a single rider and it kills me to see the train have empty seats.

    Other items include:

    1) smoking and acting like "I do what I want" (been stated before on here)

    2) people who stand in the middle of a walk path! It kills me every time! I hate playing "dodge'm"

    3) I agree with the stepping on the coaster seats. I don't know where you show has been, but I can guess it has been some where gross.

    4) people not throwing away trash but decide to kick it and not pick it up! Come on! Let's help make the park clean!

    5) guest that complain about every little thing. From height, loose articles, cost of things, and "not what they wanted" are just examples of many.

    Finally:

    6) people that don't know what they want to order when they had all the time in line to decide (this is everywhere)

  5. I enjoyed this video. It added another aspect of a TR! It has already been mentioned about the speed of the slides, what I was thinking would make a part 1, part 2, etc. videos. Obviously not doing 600 parts to a video, but maybe 2 or 3 part video.

The combination of slides, video, and music make it a very personal experience when watching and personally I grabs my attention more. Honestly it makes me want to visit the place if don't correctly.

Overall the idea is there, work on the captions (keep the short), and that should make this more desirable.

  6. I need to have a little rant on one thing! There seems to be this fight with coaster enthusiasts on which club they belong to. I am tired of people bashing Club TPR because of some lame reason. If you have your reason, that is great! Congratulations I don't care why you hate :insert club name here:! (Unless there is a safety hazard or some illegal stuff going on). We are all enthusiast, why can't we all get along! I hate it when I go somewhere where there are other enthusiast and all they do is bash a club.

I don't care which group you are apart of, I support your decision in advancing your desire for coasters!! I love meeting other people from other clubs! It is another benefit! I hope this never gets ruined for me!!

  7. We've really done this to ourselves though by making games like Farmville and Flappybird so popular. The games don't require any where near the expense a larger, longer developed game requires but still can draw in a huge amount of revenue. Its quite sad.

On the flipside, we have tiny little indie gaming companies making what I feel is some of the best games of the 21st century, Pantera and TPS included.

First, that is why flappy bird developer removed his app. He was upset by its popularity. So I agree that "we have done this to ourselves" but we need developers to stop thinking about money and thinking about the art of developing.

Second, I agree the indie market is becoming big!! I love "Sometimes you die", "A Dark Room" and many others!

  8. For those lucky punks to have ridden Banshee, more than 20+ times in some cases, can you compare it to other similar coasters/theming/fun etc?

I would say that theme is up there. The lighting package is amazing at night. The fog machines are beyond cool. The theming in the cue is awesome! This is the best theming I have seen cedar fair do in a long time!! Is it a Disney? No, but it is a start for cedar fair.

The ride experience is amazing fun, exciting, and thrilling

For me this is my favorite invert, and a coaster that is now in my top 10 by far!! It I close to be a top 5 but I have to reride some rides to know for sure.

  9. My daughter and I just joined TPR today after meeting 2 members in line for the Banshee yesterday. My husband and I took her as a surprise right after school; and it was the very first time we went on opening day. I hadn't seen it that crowded in years.

My dream was to become a roller coaster enthusiast when I retired, and our new found friends showed us we could be enthusiasts now. I want to say we met Brandon or Bradley (I can't recall the exact name) from West Virginia. We rode the Banshee 2x with him and learned a lot about TPR. We are so excited to be on here.

King's Island is only 1 1/2 hours away from Indianapolis; so we have a season pass this year and plan to go a lot more.

We introduced Nicole to roller coasters at a very young age and she has always wanted to ride anything she is tall enough to ride. I'm so grateful to have a daughter that loves to ride them as much as me.

We plan to go to Universal Islands of Adventure again later this year; and definitely as many more places as possible.

Great pic's of the Beast. I must say, that last year was the 1st time I was afraid to ride it after 31 years (I rode it 1st at 8 years old). It really sounds bad, I must say. I can't help but still call it my favorite, though.

Welcome! So glad to see that someone helped you and your daughter out! It is thrilling to see that you have a strong passion for roller coasters!! It is very exciting to me to see that someone taught you everything about TPR and you joined because of it! GLAD to have you on board!!

  10. Because those Season Pass holders might end up like me... cancelling the pass and using that cash to take the family on Road Trips to KI, Holiday World, or WOF. My family got bored with the park and that is the honest truth.

I really think this is a poor argument, because how far does $240 go for a family road trip, barely covers two nights in a decent hotel. We went to Chicago for a long weekend last year to go to SFGA and probably spent $1000 and that was without park admission since we have SF passes.

I don't think it is that poor of an argument. It is showing that a family will start saving and traveling to different parks if their home park starts to leave them in the dust (not saying this is happening to SFSTL it is just a statement).

Instead of buying 4 season passes to SFSTL they use that money to go to a "memorable" park that the family can talk about for years to come. For me that was a Cedar Point trip for other it is Disney or other parks.

  11. Since it's been 5 years since I've been, summer of 2009, I'd really be interested to see how much value the Fastlane is. I usually go to parks alone, easier/more enjoyable for me, and I can remember all to many times at KI in quene for The Beast, Racer, Flight of Fear, etc., thinking, 'Man, I wish their was a single rider/fastlane option for ::INSERT RIDE::.'

I tested the system out last year just to see how "good" and much "worth" there was. I was pleased to say that I got the fast lane (not plus) and rode every ride as many times as I wanted but my main focus was diamondback were I was Marathoning for a few hours and got 97 rides in that day!

After that day I love the system and will use it again!

97 rides? Wow that's impressive! That's like 5 hours without getting off! Must have not too crowded to get that many rides with fast lane.

It was not an opening day crowd, but FOF that day was about 1hour 15. That was the reason I got it. Being a single rider, they would direct me where ever to fill the seat. They did make me walk around (need some exercise ha). If I remember diamondback was about a 30-45 min wait.
