What engineering degree or insider information do you have that the track and trains from 1979 are in perfectly working condition and need no refurb??? And please enlighten us everything you know about the computer system and what is wrong with is and why it could be better. Well I'm just throwing things out there just like anyone else. I've experienced a couple times where the ride has to be completely reset, and trains taken off and put back on because trains weren't dispatched in some sort of time window. If a train is in the station longer than, lets just say 1 minute, then that messes something up for some reason and that train then has to be sent backwards into the storage area. One of the times I witnessed this I was on the train that took too long because of some screaming kid, and then had to get back out and wait while they did this. The last time I was there I was with a handicapped person and they make sure your capable of getting on and of the ride quickly before they let you onto the platform to get on. You can call me an idiot all you want, I really don't have first hand knowledge like I said, but I think there is more to this than it needs to be replaced because it's had so many operational hours or any other preventative reason. Maybe there are other plans for the trains that will add significant weight, necessitating track replacement like increasing capacity or something or because people are fatter than they used to be, who knows, I'm just trowing things out there. We'll see what happens when it happens.

Changing all the good parts? The track will follow the same route it always did. It is simply old and needs replacing. Other Arrow Dynamics rides of that era have reached their end of life and been torn down (Big Bad Wolf, Great American Scream Machine), and none of those have seen the sort of 2400 riders-per-hour 365-days-per-year punishment that Big Thunder has. Well I just mean there is nothing obviously wrong with the track or trains, but clearly the computer system could be better. I don't think the Matterhorn has ever had it's track replaced, and that is much older and the first ever steel track coaster. I'm not a mechanic on this ride, so obviously I can't know everything about the wear and tear on the ride, but it just seems like replacing the track is more of a rider experience decision rather than the track approaching its usable life. I think they will be leaving in the awkward track parts... like the straight piece in the middle of a curve... or the tilting before a drop and whatnot, but no doubt the overall ride will be smoother. If replacing the track on the Matterhorn were an easy thing to do, I'm sure they would have done that too. I think that was before Disney found that building the track and the mountain as separate structures was a good idea.

They should put the money into Adventure dome. I was there once when it was raining and the floor was made of buckets. -
Looks like this is the same studio that made Hyper Rails. I have it and have played it, but not very much I guess because I hardly remember it at all. The editing looks similar to what I remember, the UI does as well. I think having people in the park, and making it more of a real sim game would be amazing. For me, designing coasters is cool and all, but it the management of the whole park and all that that makes RCT so much fun and NoLimits so dull. If you guys don't really plan to take it that route, maybe some challenges in terms of coaster design could be fun and different. Sorta like how RCT has some of those (I think), like build a roller coaster over 3,000ft long with a overall fun rating of 8! Or maybe a level that has a lot of obstacles and you have to design a coaster a certain length in the space. Maybe some other things that don't have to do with length as well! A real series of challenges where maybe you get scored on and a get gold, silver, bronze medal for would be fun. If you somehow figured out some challenges where the score could be broken down even further or with a point system, then a online high score board where people can upload their designs would be even better. Just something to make the game a bit more than here is some open land do whatever the crap you want with.

This would make more sense if the golf course actually had an interest is selling because of lack of business or whatever. I agree this is a huge feat, and would really effect those close by, the value of those homes located on the course would go way down. There would have to be a real need for the course to sell for this to actually happen. because of where the course is located it seems the only other real option for the area is a park or more residences, because the access is though the surrounding residential neighborhood. Universal could obviously build some bridges over the river. It wouldn't make sense for other businesses to acquire the land.

I don't care for golf, so I see this as a good move. It could create new space for the park if they tore down some of those old sound stages and sets, and then they would have the ability to create new sound stages that better suit the modern demands of film making. These sound stages aren't for 100% Universal productions, they rent them out. With ABC/Disney building a fancy all new facility in Santa Clarita, it's possible Universal would see a bit of their revenue go away with people choosing the ABC facility.

The part that was the anti-lock brake part is now supposed to be a snowy conditions/slippery road section, but the overall effect in that area to convey that seems lacking. The robo voice does mention it once or twice though. It's not nearly as spelled out as it was in the original ride as here is without, here it is with, and here is a monitor where you can watch with and without... all the while talking you though it. The truck part is more of a 'what was that?' than a 'OH NO LOOK OUT A TRUCK, AAAAAH!!' You can't see it till your there then it's over really quick. I'm not 3 though, so maybe some could think it's scary. -

I think it's sorta unfortunate that the connections to Tron can be made, but they set themselves up for that when they chose the 'inside a computer' or whatever concept. There really is only one way to convey being inside a digital space, and the most effective is the way that they chose, which just happens to be pretty similar to how Tron does it. They could have gone the realistic 3D generated route, but I guarantee that would look way more dated in 10 years than what they did will. There are differences in style though, and in many ways the projections in the ride are much more complex. They could have gone a different route though, and kept the ride in the real world, and just switched up the style. I think the graphical style of Portal could have been adapted well into the ride, they already have a bit of that style on the entrance and in the queue area. I guess people would complain that they ripped that off though. They also could have used some ques from the McLaren Technology Center, which is an actual vehicle design and production center (although a competitor's, sorta.) Actually the outside kinda looks like that already. That would have solved the Tron problem and the going from the digital to the real world for the loop, but it probably would have made for a less visually impressive ride, depending on what they did with it. Really though it's just unfortunate the Tron connection is there. -
Hockeyman55 - Theme Park Pics Thru My Eyes

This photo is pretty great. It's composed really well with Pluto and main street decorations in the background. It's just like something you would would see in a flyer at a hotel or on their website and stuff. If you have a portfolio, that's the kind of shots you should be showcasing. As far as HDR, it works much better if your doing it for reals and using separate photos taken with different settings. Some cameras have this feature built in and will take the 3 or whatever photos at different settings automatically without you having to change it for each one. The method you used is fine for fixing underexposed areas but not the greatest to get the HDR effect. -

I think it looks way cooler, but it seem way more impersonal... besides the fact that a car you designed is up on a screen. The original was pretty corny, but i think it had a more involved feeling to it. This really has a sorta Rocket Rods vibe to it I think, just kinda zipping around with neat things to look at. I guess what little dialogue there is, it's better than the bleeps and bloops or Rocket Rods. Connecting to... OnStar -

Just like everyone else, Wacky Soap Box Racers. As far as what I wouldn't want back it would have to be Flashback. If it were a smooth ride it wouldn't be so bad, but if it came back in the form that it was in when it was removed then hell no. -

I didn't realize this project was going to be so big!. And I guess I mistook the place that coaster was going for that other park that already has a sky coaster and sling shot n stuff. -
This place looks amazing. Just like having a tidal wave at a water park turned out to be a no-brainer, I think this water coaster will end up being one of the stars of the park. The detail going into this place is pretty awesome. Slide design has seen a huge boom over the past few years and I'm pretty envious of these high tech parks that the middle east has been getting.

I don't really see any benefit coming from them adding a streetcar. Maybe they think if they added it they could get people to park at the Angels stadium. Really though I've never experienced completely horrid traffic in the Disneyland area. If there ever is it's probably just for certain special events and things, and it would be stupid to put into something like this and spend the cash to run it year round when the true benefit will only come a few times a year. Every place this thing is supposed to stop, besides out by the stadium, is all right next to each other.

Well I'm at least glad I got to ride it for historical reasons. Yes it definitely was a POS, but it will have it's place in roller coaster history and I think people will still be talking about it and cracking jokes for a long time.. -

Not sure how truly relevant this is, but just as a side note, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is the least attended F1 race. Well under 50k where the most attended races are well over 100k. US GP this past weekend was 117,429. -
I was under the impression based on the concept art that this was going to have vehicles pretty similar to mummy and was probably going to be made by premier. I know concept art isn't always accurate, especially old concept art for an attraction we know very little about. What we are looking at though is station track, and I would say the most telling part of that photo is the little knobs on the end of the rails. Mummy is an oldish ride and Premier has changed up their track a bit since then, I wouldn't say the straight bits between rails is strictly a Intamin thing because, well...
-
I get what you mean, but I was mainly joking. The Hersey and Anheuser-Busch park had pretty humble beginnings and were able to grow 'in house' over time. If any company from outside the theme park industry were to build a new park they would have to contract with some other company to do it for them, much like what Hard Rock Park probably did.

Obviously nobody knows 100% how this will work yet, but I think the experiences of every car on the track will be the same, maybe even 100% exactly to how it is now. What it seems like though is at some point before getting on the ride (or maybe even just after getting on) you design a vehicle, then it's likely that while on the ride everyone will have a personal screen where they can see how their car scores scores as they go your each of the tests (everyone in the car obviously having the same physical experience). The most confusing part is how they will know who designed what car before, during and after the ride, as handing out little cards or RFID things to everyone would be a huge hassle. Maybe it could utilize the new RFID ticket and Fastpass system, but I'm not sure how wide spread that is quite yet.
