Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread
VF15 replied to the_rock401's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dave Frazier tweeted this picture of some digging going on at the park, but it's not at the waterpark site, it's somewhere near High Roller. Could this mean something, or am I looking too far into this? -
Michigan's Adventure (MiA) Discussion Thread

Unfortunately, I don't think MiA will be announcing anything for this year. Hopefully they at least get something in 2016. Screamscape did post a rumor of a possible Chance Hyper GT-X in 2016, but I'm not sure what to think of it. -

I don't know how often it gets retracked, but I do know it got some retracking in spots during the 2013-2014 offseason. It paid off because it was definitely smoother last year than in 2013. Now if they could somehow run in without the trims, it would be a really great ride. -

Is it possible that the Cedar Point coaster could be a 2017 project? I had usually heard that getting a new roller coaster was about a two year process, and based on what I've heard, it sounds like they're still in the early planning stages. I could be wrong though, please correct me if I am. As for a 2016 Canada's Wonderland coaster, the reason some think they're getting one is because there has been big land clearing there that could point to a new coaster. I'm leaning towards saying they are getting a coaster because I don't know what else they'd be putting in such a big space, but that's just my guess. If Valleyfair's coaster is coming in 2017 instead, then I predict that 2016 would probably be a flat ride, possibly a HUSS Giant Frisbee in the amphitheater's spot, or maybe Larson Flyers in Route 76. -
Well, the Super Loop really isn't much of an addition, but considering how this park has been treated over the past few years, I guess it's better than nothing. Is CNL still considering selling Darien Lake, because with CNL's refusal to inject any money into this park, it would really be better off in almost any other park chain.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
VF15 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Eh, I don't think Valleyfair needs a dive coaster right now. I'd rather have an invert or a floorless coaster. As for a dive coaster at Cedar Point, it wouldn't be a bad choice, but I think the GP would seeing it as being too similar to Gatekeeper because of the wide trains. -

^ I wish I could come, but unfortunately have other plans that evening . Maybe we could have a meet-up at Valleyfair on Opening Weekend or some other time. Also, now my confidence in a 2016 coaster has dropped more because of the news of a possible B&M Dive Coaster at Cedar Point. Does CP really need a new coaster two years in a row? Granted, Rougarou isn't 100% new, but still... -
When I was at Disneyland in June 2013, the fireworks show they had at night was really spectacular. I was quite impressed with the formations in the sky, and the music they played along with it was great too. They were good enough that I'd call seeing the fireworks the second best part of the day besides riding California Screamin' (the rare moment where I preferred a park's theming/environment to most rides).

Granted, but the storm is so bad that your power goes out and you're stuck inside your house. I wish for a trip to Kings Island. -

^ They may have at one time, but every time I went to the park last year, Excalibur and Thunder Canyon opened at opening time along with the rest of the park. It actually might make sense to not open Excalibur and Thunder Canyon until an hour after opening because one time I rode Excalibur at 10:30am and they told me I was the first rider of the day. -

Granted, but after doing it you crash into the ground. I wish for a ride on Fury 325. -
Both are getting new coasters for 2015. SeaWorld Orlando and Six Flags Great America.

I'm sure the park doesn't have a problem with building rides in the flood zone because they did, they wouldn't have built Thunder Canyon, Excalibur, and Renegade back there. Plus, if they did build a new coaster there, I hope they could build the coaster, station, and queue line high enough off the ground so that it could stay open during flooding. That actually might be an interesting idea, riding a roller coaster over a flooded pain. I also found this map that shows the flood zone boundaries (the blue/white striped line), and unless they use the amphitheater space or relocate some of the buildings between High Roller and Renegade, they're basically stuck with expanding into the flood zone. -
Saw Into the Woods earlier today, and I was pleasantly surprised. Didn't know what to expect having not seen the musical, but I liked it. Most of the musical performances were quite impressive. I particularly thought Meryl Streep and Anna Kendrick were great. The storyline was overall pretty good, but I felt the final third was stretched out longer than it needed to be. I also liked how they threw in some funny moments here and there. Not my favorite movie of 2014, but certainly somewhere in the top 10. I'd recommend seeing it if you have a chance. Wouldn't be surprised if it wins a few Oscar awards.

Sorry if it sounds like a weird idea, but do you think that the park might remove just Thunder Canyon for expansion in the near future? I just don't think it's that great of a ride anymore because when I last rode it (in 2013) I didn't get very wet at all, and that basically defeats the purpose of a water ride. Even though it is slightly more popular than its next-door neighbor Excalibur, GM Frazier did say he doesn't want to lose any coasters right now. Plus, if you remove Thunder Canyon, that creates a plot of land that could certainly fit in a decent sized B&M Invert or Floorless. -

Granted, but it's a ten-year-old laptop that's slower than a snail. I wish more parks had single-ride lines. -
-People that make dumb coaster comparisons, like comparing Millennium Force to Woodstock Express. Really, what's the point of that? -One-train operation on busy days. I can live with one train operation on quiet days, but when it's a Saturday in July and the line is stretching out to the queue entrance, I should not see a train going up the lift hill only every five minutes.

So, people are seriously using these during park shows and on the rides? This is why we can't have nice things. Hopefully these things get banned from amusement parks soon because they aren't safe and it makes whoever is using it look weird in my opinion. -
