Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Curious if Cedar Point has onsite housing for employees. I worked Valleyfair this summer and lived in their onsite housing and am looking to travel. -

Something I've been thinking of: the laser maze on the games midway is a missed opportunity. The park should have used it for haunt--maybe an upcharge one, but it would have been sweet. -

I'm more interested in the Cincinnati area than Sandusky. CP is definitely on my radar, though. -

Looking at applying to KI's rides department next year. Do they have any on-site housing for employees? I worked at Valleyfair this year and lived in theirs. -

I heard that Mad Mouse may be running again next weekend. I heard that some people are coming in on Thursday to get re-cleared. But at the same time, I thought I remembered hearing that that system was supposed to be ready by the beginning of this season. On Haunt related terms, I think that the "No-boo" lanyards are insulting to haunt workers. Better news, there is a high possibility that I'll be joining haunt crew this coming weekend. -

And now the big question: with a newly built ampitheatre and no musical acts wanting to play there with Wild Thing's MCBR, after the 2016 season, since I doubt that the stunt show will stay for multiple years, what to do with it next? With Garyman's above prediction on the price tag, could this just be a one-season thing since it's so low? -

With all the reviews saying that many Haunts have no workers and me being turned down from switching to Haunt full-time... Chortles would love to work. But he'll still be at Power Tower, if you're interested in meeting him. -

I'm starting to think that if Valleyfair announces its 2016 project, it will be September 12/13 during the Coaster Campout. Looking at the dates for the other coaster campouts--all this week, and then VF's isn't until mid-September??? Rougarou was partially announced at Cedar Point's event last year. -

So I went into the park today with my family using my associate comp tickets. Not sure if this means anything or not: Wild Thing had a spare chain next to the lift with a couple water dummies. Today was the first day that I've actually gotten to talk to Dave Frazier. I've seen him around before, but this was the first I'd actually spoken with him. Weird since he's my boss. -_- I only had a couple seconds as he was leading someone in a Cedar Fair jacket around. I didn't know who, nor did I get a look at his nametag. The sky sprung a bit of a leak today; closing Mad Mouse just before I got on, Northern Lights 90% of the day, and Wild Thing just after I got off it for my last ride of the day. On the old flat ride trend, I'd love a flying scooters, paratrooper, rotor, troika, and round-up. For new: Air race, frisbee-type attraction. I remember the Enterprise being on that list of old flats; what about the new version of the Enterprise that Huss is working on? Especially the G2H+? -

There are 5 designated smoking areas at VF: near Breakers Bay, across from Looping Starship/next to Chickies & Pete's, across from Extreme Swing, up by Ripcord, and next to Monster/High Roller's turnaround. The smoking policy includes E-cigs. -

Not sure if anyone cares/noticed, but Riptide just got reprogrammed and hopefully will not break down every three or so minutes. -

Last night, I found out a couple things about Haunt: -Hi-Test Arcade, the former home for Chateau will become a vampire-themed bar -Wekilou is getting completely restructured -Saddle up, Partners; The wild west is a-comin' There's more stuff about haunt that I can't remember. P.S. The ISS has been visible over the park the past couple nights. I saw it when I was going out to work firework security. Pretty geeky moment. -

You're all sitting here debating over the definitions of size of a patriotic talon and I'm just here waiting for Haunt. Are we just outright going to ignore the Chateau du Damne construction behind Mad Mouse? This is good news! I'm just wondering how victi..I mean guests will get to it. Anywhose, I was thinking about a possible name for our eventual flyers: River Valley Flyers. Anyone have anything better? -

From what I've heard talking to Dinos Alive associates, Jurassic World and its monster success has had a negligible impact on the animatronic dinos we have. You'd think that those numbers would skyrocket. Ah well. -

For those wondering why Renegade has only been running one train lately--even on Saturdays, it's because there's a problem with the other train/lift/operating system I can't remember which. I can assure you that the ride ops don't like the slow operations either. -

^Yes, I've noticed High Roller slowing down going over that second hill...when I'm not on it. Doesn't feel that way when I'm on it. Even in the back. So I don't think that there'll be a Valley at the Fair anytime soon. -

Anyone else think that the park could use an S&S Screaming Swing? When I was at the park last summer, I noticed how many centrifugal force attractions the park has (Zulu, Finnish Fling, Bamboozler, etc.) and a good swing could really round out the flats line-up at the park. -

A couple things I found out today: *Excalibur has no second train due to operating system issues dating back to last season. The second train is in storage. *There are no plans to renew the Dinos Alive contract. DON'T YOU DARE CALL BERENSTEIN BEAR COUNTRY LAME! KidWorks, fine--but leave BBC alone! Do you remember how creepy that Spooky Old Tree slide was?! That thing could have easily been in Haunt and I loved it and was pissed when I outgrew it. -

On my way to/from the park the past couple days, I've noticed some markings out in the parking lot out directly west from the service road behind the park. The markings in question are curving arrows with boxed "X's" near them. All are heading back towards the park. I have not seen any heading away from the park. Whether this means anything or not...
