I got some semi-unoffical news. I talked to Kip on the phone today and he was told that something seriously did happen on Kingda Ka. As for what broke we don't know. But if I were to guess how long it will be down for, it's going to be some time. If you guys have any new news about Kingda Ka, please share since my friend and I are going to SFGAdv this Monday.

^^ Yeah, you ride that horsie Slushie. Show him who's boss. haha

^ Hey Robb, we should possibly make that thread a sticky so it's easy access for posters and it won't get lost in the history or something.

^ WTF indeed. Can we get pictures, or a POV or something? -
My t-shirt just came in so I thought it be a great idea to start a thread where we can all model off our Theme Park Review t-shirts to the rest of the members, so here are my pictures. Back of the shirt. You can tell that the t-shirt accentuates my ass thighs. Your Token Yankee sporting the offical TPR T-Shirt.

Don (Jeezus Juice) and his g/f Monica where driving up to New England to make stops at Lake Compounce, SFNE, and Canobie. Since I lived in the area we decided to meet up today ( 6/8 ). First park we were to hit is Lake Compounce. Lake Compounce: I've lived in Connecticut for almost 19 years and this has been the first time I visited Lake Compounce. Overall, I was really impressed with the cleanliness, the layout, rides, and the employees. When I got into the parking lot and started walking towards the tunnel to the park, I called Don and Monica too see where they were. Turns out they were only a few cars behind me so I only waited a few minutes and met up with them. We walked to the park entrance and I gave them the Stop & Shop coupon which gave them a 4.00/person discount. Zoomerang: your general vekoma boomerang, it was a walk on and I only went on it for the credit. Wildcat: Wildcat was our second coaster we hit, we were going to try and get on Boulder Dash but they were still testing, so we walked over to Wildcat. It looked like it was still testing or something since they had a trash can infront of the entrance, so we walked around and I asked the ride attendent sitting at the ride exit. She said the ride was running so we went back and got in line. We waited in line to board the train and they said we could board...We laughed because we thought the gates were automatic...turns out they weren't. So we boared and rode. This is actually a great woodie, it is very smooth, smoother then Cyclone and Thunderbolt combined. When we got back into the station, no one else was in the queue so we got a re-ride. Boulder Dash: No wonder people rave about this coaster. It is one of the greatest wooden coasters on the planet, and it's amazing how you just zip by along the edge of the mountain. We rode this coaster twice, once in the front of the train and once in the back. Turns out Boulder Dash queue seperates into two (one for back and one for front) and since we were heading for the back, I wasn't looking and ran into the queue pole. Right between the legs! Other rides we hit was the flyers, I rode on the 180ft Skycoaster which was amazing, and we rode the skyway up the side of the mountain which has a great view We also hit up the waterpark which wasn't operating at 100%. The three white body slides were closed due to renovations, and the two tube slides into the lake were closed. At about 1:00ish we headed out and drove the back roads up to my Stop & Shop to get lunch, then off to SFNE Six Flags New England We got to the park about 3:30 which gave us enough time to hit the water park a bit and ride some rides. When going through security they made me take off my belt (3 out of the 4 times I've been there so far). And the women security gaurds loved my T-Shirt that I was wearing. (my t-shirt on the back says, "Jenny was a nice girl, but not bright." And it shows a girl chasing a balloon with an oncoming car). Waterpark: Waterpark was only operating at 1/3 capacity. Which means anything in the new section was open (except typhoon which opens in a week and a half), and the mini lazy river w/ waves in the old section. Turns out they won't operate full capacity 7 days a week until June 26th. For now it's 1/3 mon-fri and full on weekends Batman: After the waterpark, Don and I went on Batman, we waited about 20 minutes and they were running one train. They really didn't need two since the line wasn't that long so I understand. But during the wait i had troubles with one of my contacts so I rode the ride with that eye closed. I didn't ride Mind Eraser, but Don and Monica did while I went and got the contact out of the side of my eyeball. Don said that he didn't like the Mind Eraser but he had to get the credit. another ride I didn't ride but Don and Monica did was Flashback. Again, they needed the credit. Mr Six's Pandemonium: We also hit MSP and we took the single riders lane so we split up. But Don and I still managed to get on the same train, at first we didn't get a lot of spinning, but after passing through the first block brakes we were speeding alone the track and spinning like crazy all the way to the end. It was amazing. Superman: Great as always, only waited a few minutes for the train. Thunderbolt: Don and I went on Thunderbolt while Monica waitied...but when we started accending the lift hill the train came to a halt and rolled back a few inches and stopped. We waited like 10 minutes for maint. guy to come to the train. Turns out some idiot in the back row pulled out his disposable camera and was caught on the camera at the foot of the lift hill. Shortly after they resumed the lift and we finished the ride. After that we tried and hit superman again but before decending into Superhero area the train stopped twice on the lift. So we botched it and went back to my area and tried and get dinner at my favorite resturant. now since I've already made you fall asleep with one of my novel style trip reports, it's onto a few of my pictures I got. Horee Shanizzle! Your fellow Token Yankee sporting the Skycoaster vest ready to fly on the 180ft high Skycoaster. By looking at the trolley, you can tell it was probably in actual operation before being put into Lake Compounce...Trolleys are cool Wow...the trolley is so intense, you can't ride it if you have the following conditions. Great view from the skyway that goes up the side of the mountain Lake Compounce on the opposite side of what I believe the lake is called...Lake Compounce. Monica and Don pimping it out on the train that goes along the lake. Clipper Clove. It's a fun water playscape area that we ran around in. They got cool slides! Monica and Don waiting to board Boulder Dash the lovely main gate to Lake Compounce. I was even able to walk right in without passing through a metal detector or getting my bagged checked

Photo AR: My Neighborhood
Token Yankee Guy replied to Token Yankee Guy's topic in Random, Random, Random
^ Haha, the last major thing that happend in East Granby before this accident was someone dying on the Farmington River. If you're not careful, you can get either seriously injured or die. -
So if any of you cared where I was last night I have a really good reason. Due to a car accident that happend about 6:15pm last night, all the neighborhoods off of Spoonville had no power. So during the evening I was sitting in the family room watching TV and eating my dinner, I and noticed the power going out in my house...So I got up and got my flashlight from my emergency kit in my car, at the time I was doing that the power came back on. I personally thought it was a little blackout due to the storm that was nearby, then 10 minutes later the lights go out again and stayed off until 1:30am this early morning. I was on the phone right away with my mom to tell her that the power is out (my parents are in VT so I was home alone with the pets) and thats when I heard sirens, so I ended the conversation with Mom and took my car down to the bottom of the hill to see police cars, fire trucks everywhere on Spoonville. Turns out someone cut her off (and that car took off from the scene) and the lady who was cut off went right into a telephone pole. She was alright, but the accident caused the inital black out, then when power returned someone told me that he saw the whole thing throwing off sparks, so CL&P had to shut off power to the entire neighborhood. I think this accident caused a surge or something in the grid because someone said that this accident even effected power as far as International Drive & Route 20 (thats about 3 miles away) Power was finally restored at 1:30am, but at that time I already went to bed since I was too tired to stay up. Oh yeah, this accident did draw a crowd since this is one of those moments in East Granby history where something interesting happens. But the accident hasen't made the paper or anything. the area in the yellow box shows what area was affected I had to resort to putting candles in the family room and read a book by candlelight... Watching whats going on at the intersection of Huckleberry and Spoonville. Cl&P (Connecticut Light & Power) trucks at the scene the car that hit the telephone pole. A new telephone pole had to be put in that night. fire trucks at the intersection of Spoonville and Huckleberry. The road was closed off at that point and down the road a bit at the intersection of Brownstone the accident happend right in front of the blue house

Michael Jackson Innocent or Guilty
Token Yankee Guy replied to BelizeIt's topic in Random, Random, Random
If he's either innocent or guilty, he should stop having children come to neverland to prevent another lawsuit again. Or at least when children come to Neverland, the parents come along to supervise their child and the children don't enter the house unless the parents are with them. Oh yeah, if he is guilty, he won't go to jail. Just like most celebrities, they only get like what...community service or something. I find it outrageous that celebrities get off more easily then the rest of us. -
Is this a phone number? For what is it? It's an american toll free number for the American Council on Alcoholism. Craiggers "Google helped me figure that out" K.

The "Say Something Random" Thread
Token Yankee Guy replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
oh man, last night after I picked up my friend, we headed over to the Buckland Showcase. While on the main street waiting at a light, I look to the left and I see a van with spinners!. I pointed and said "Spinners!" and the lady in the passenger seat look at me in the van. Then she rolled down her window and told me that the spinner hub cab was a mistake. First time I've ever seen spinners on a family mini van -
Depends if you consider my job cool or not, but I personally like my job since I have authority. I work at the Service Desk of a supermarket if any of you didn't know.

Testing Theme Park Review Chat Mod
Token Yankee Guy replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great to see the Chatroom up. I'm surprised you didn't go for a java type chatroom, this type there is a bit of a delay when you post a message since the webpage keeps refreshing. Other then that, it's fine. Dial Up users might have difficulties since the webpage needs to refresh everytime -
State - Connecticut Convention Center finally opened for business. They say it's the largest convention center between New York City and Boston....Maybe thats because it's probably the only one Town - Nothing ever happens in East Granby Home - my parents are getting ready to leave for their vacation Mind - I wonder if I left the iron on.

Mmmm...Donuts! (Free Krispy Kremes June 3rd!)
Token Yankee Guy replied to GAcoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
We'll have to fed ex you some Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. They are very good. Imagine a really soft, hot, and fresh doughnut, with a glaze thats still gooey. They are very delicious and draw people in by the busloads...For example, when the first Krispy Kreme opened in Connecticut on the Berlin Turnpike, the traffic for the krispy Kreme alone was backed up onto the Route 5 and 15 expressway all the way to I-91. Thats about 5-10 miles or so. -
Knoebels Tips, Info, etc.
Token Yankee Guy replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've been to Knoebels twice and on both occasions I had a great time. It's a very family oriented park but they have a great selection of rides. For great food you should try Ceasari's Pizza near the haunted house attraction. I can't remember the prices for the pizza, but I know all the concession stands have very reasonable prices. Ride lines aren't that bad usually, I never waited more then 15 minutes for either Phoenix or Twister. Also, don't forget to hit High Speed Thrill Coaster, it may be considered a kiddie coaster but a lot of adults ride it because it is fun. Thats all I can think of right now, other then the fact that Knoebels is a really nice park and I love their free parking/free admission/walk right into the park policy. Yeah, Knoebels doesn't have admission gates or metal detectors. -
I was listening to my favorite station, 96.5-TIC and they got a great morning show called Craig & Company, and Gary who is the host asked us listeners to e-mail him and we'll receive a link to view three of his phony phone crank calls that have been animated. He wants to get this out on the internet and ask us to fwd it to our friends. Now, I'm going to give you guys the link but I'm not asking you to fwd it to anyone. I don't want to SPAM on TPR. I'm just showing you guys what I was recieved. They're very funny, my favorite is probably the Japanese VCR http://www.just2pale.com/crankcalls/ Enjoy

Nail Polish Remover Tastes Bad!

^^ That may be true, but I don't think most dogs don't even know the real taste of bacon. so therefore, when they eat beggin' strips, they think it's bacon. -
The "Say Something Random" Thread
Token Yankee Guy replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
I still really hate that expression. 'Mates' are animals breeding partners. Well I suppose you in NZ are mates, being sheep screwers. I hope you also know that in the UK, Australia, and NZ, I dunno where else, but using the term Mate instead of like friend is very common. Mate:1 a (1) : ASSOCIATE, COMPANION (2) chiefly British : an assistant to a more skilled worker : HELPER (3) chiefly British : FRIEND, BUDDY -- often used as a familiar form of address b archaic : MATCH, PEER www.m-w.com
