  1. I was suprised when I went how rough Outlaw Run was. After having ridden Twisted Colossus the week before, I didn't think the steel wheels would make that much of a difference. It wasn't rough like normal wood coaster, instead big jolts every so often, where as TC and Goliath are perfectly smooth. I even heard the GP talking about "how this one is a lot more shakey since it's wooden like Prowler"
  2. It is interesting that so many years ago these coasters could be made perfectly smooth and still are to this day, yet brand new $25+ million B&M's rattle.
  3. I've always wondered about the terrible rattle on Banshee. It's been there since day 1 and hasn't let up since. I guess that's just bad engineering.
  4. Looking back, I got really lucky with everything. Out of the 18 parks I've been to and 139 coasters I've ridden, there aren't any coasters that I haven't ridden except for kiddie coasters. Primeval Whirl Great Pumpkin Coaster (KI) Pteranodon Flyers Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster Sideshow Spin Magic Flyer Taxi Jam (CW) Roller Skater (KK) Sea Serpent (Fun Spot)
  5. I always do this and never grey out. Even on Goliath
  6. I went to the park yesterday and despite being cold and rainy it was still crazy packed. I got fastlane and it was definitely worth it. The queue for Leviathan was completely spilling out into the midway. Luckily, with FL, I got 24 rides on Leviathan as well as 6 on Behemoth, then one on Wild Beast (which was significantly smoother than last year! Lots of retracking), MCMB, Backlot, and Time Warp (which I find enjoyable tbh). You can tell where I spent most my day
  7. Not any facts, just guessing, but Wicked Twister never seemed like it had much hype when it opened. Considering TTD opened the next year, I think it really got overlooked.
  8. I'll be visiting tomorrow and I'm considering getting Fastlane. Do you think I'll need it? How have crowds been as of this week?
  9. Cedar Fair just seems to be lacking in their "amazing ride department" Look at what Six Flags has done in comparison to Cedar Fair in the past few years. Premier launchers, RMC's galore, GREAT looking dark rides, world's first free fly... just to name a few. CF has B&M after B&M after B&M, all of which are "good" rides, but aren't "OMG AMAZING!" rides, (with maybe the exception of Fury). But wait, theres more! Every park gets a cloned waterslide complex and a set of flying scooters as well! Don't get me wrong, I love Cedar Fair over every other chain, but lately it's been disappointing to see these predictable announcments after what all these other parks are doing. On these smaller parks it seems like everyone's like "okay, now THIS is our year for a coaster!" and sure enough, it's not. I understand how every park can't get a $25 million coaster, but these parks going on 6,7,8, 16! (Mia..) years since getting an original coaster is just depressing. Six Flags may do a lot of things wrong, but when they're building these cheaper $10 million and under coasters at several of their different parks, I think they're doing something right.
  10. I was really hoping that the color scheme would grow on me but it really hasn't at all. It's just one of the worst color combinations I could have ever imagined. Imagine if this had Mako's color scheme instead
  11. On a completely different topic, I think so many people have been distracted by this that they haven't even noticed the brand new haunt on Frontier Trail! It's right under Millennium's first overbank right by the barn. The building (I believe) used to be a storage building and now looks like it's being turned into a haunt. The signs around the park teasing Halloweekends say "don't slaughter a visit this fall" so I'm assuming it's going to be a slaughterhouse type haunt. I think it's in the perfect location for one too! I've always wanted a slaughterhouse haunt in that exact area. There appears to be a brand new poured concrete path that leads to the building and the building has what looks to be a door cut out of the wall, and you can see where the wall used to be. My guess is that you'll exit from this path, and enter over by the barn. I took the pics in the morning of the coaster campout, which is why the gate is open. Don't worry, I didn't go anywhere that I wasn't supposed to. As you can see, there's a ton of metal kitchen stuff out in front of the building, which are typical things you'd see in a butcher shop. While I'm still not 100% certain this is what this will be, all signs seem to point to it. Building, featuring the cut out door and metal kitchen counters New path that leads to the building (Sorry it's blurry)
  12. Wow I just found out about this! It'll be fun to have a coaster just a few miles from where I live! How awesome would it be to see this evolve into an actual park?? This sounds like a start!
  13. If any of you are going to the Coaster Campout, the location has been changed to the Antique Cars area and parking will be in the Soak City parking lot.
  14. Here's some pics of Ozark Wildcat I took in case anyone is interested
  15. It really makes me wonder if a rename is going to happen considering Valravn, like others said, is a name completely correleated to death. (Ravens who consume the bodies of the dead on the battlefield) Especially being so close to Raptor as well, they might just be trying to avoid any further trouble. Just speculating but it's an idea.
  16. Yes, they were enforcing the rules, and like I stated many times, I completely understand that. I just think they could have been nicer about it. Like the people that told the family to change could have kindly explained the park rule and give them a solution instead of just, "You need a shirt or you can't come in."
  17. All of the ride ops were doing constant scanning of height requirements, even on kids that were obviously tall enough. One kid was being measured on Thunderbird and was easily 4 inches taller than the height requirement and he told the ride op measuring him, "Really?? I've ridden this 5 times already!" It's good that they're being safe but it was a change from CF parks where they only do it where it's necessary. Later in the day, at the front gate when I was re-entering, this (I'm assuming), grandma and granddaughter were entering the park with full one piece swim suits on, shorts, and shoes, and the little girl at first was held up by the employee saying she needs a full shirt on. She was probably only 3 years old and the grandma explained that they were going straight to the waterpark. Then this other employee standing nearby said to the grandma "You know, you aren't dressed properly either. You need to cover up or you can't come in." At this point, the little girl seemed to be scared and confused. I don't know what happened from there since I re-entered the park, but I think the whole situation was really unneccsesary. I appreciate them enforcing a dress code, but use some common sense. When I was in line for Thunderbird, I asked the ride attendant if I could sit in the front. There were 2 groups waiting for the front and plenty of queue available still. The response I got was, "Hmmmmm. I'm not sure.. Well I guess I'll let it slide this time but not again." I was joking around with the person I was with saying that I felt like I just did something wrong in elementary school. The ride op had such a condescending voice about it too. Sorry? I didn't know it was against park rules to ask for the front row. Again, I understand in certain circumstances but use some common sense. On Gobbler Getaway, this girl in my car had her sunglasses on top of her head like most people do and the ride op told her that she needs to remove her sunglasses. I laughed to myself because out of all rides, I think this would be the one least likely for sunglasses to fly off. It would be like asking everyone to remove their sunglasses on your basic park train. Once again, I understand the rules, but no use of common sense. I was really caught off guard just by all the employees considering all the awards they have won for friendliest park. Sure, there were a few that went out of their way to be friendly, but for the most park, it was worse than most corporate parks. I was with a non-enthusiast and never mentioned anything to him about all the awards the park has won just so I could see an unbiased opinion and at the end of the day he said the same thing I did.
  18. I went to the park for the first time last week and I was really impressed. I didn't get to the park until 12 pm and it rained most of the day. Unfortuantely it closed early around 4 pm, however, I still got to ride everything I wanted to. -The park was well maintained and decently clean. Everything seemed updated and upkept. -Lightning Run was crazy fun. Constant ejector air, and that last bunny hop still has the strongest airtime of any coaster I've ever felt. -Thunder Run was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. The back was quite intense. -T3 is just as jerky as other SLC's, but no headbanging. However, it wouldn't be an SLC without pain. Now you get thigh crush to the max! -The employees were all really friendly. They were giving out rainchecks as well but I didn't get one since I wouldn't be returning anytime soon. -The food at the BBQ place was quite good for amusement park food and they seemed to have plenty of other options around the park.
  19. I visited the park for my first time last week and have some comments about the park: -Thunderbird is a fun little coaster. It's nothing too special but the launch is fun. -Now on the other hand, Voyage is AMAZING! Instantly became my top woodie even above the 2 RMCs. Not nearly as rough as I expected it to be and just crazy long and intense. -Legend was so so rough. It has a good first drop but the rest of the layout is just decent but it's too rough to enjoy. -Raven was really fun. It felt like the layout had so much thought put into it and really took advantage of the height that it has as well as the lake and forest. -To my surprise, the employees seemed rude and very strict. I know that's a sin to say on here but there were several moments in the day that made me just go ??? -Overal, I liked the park, but I didn't fall in love with it like every other enthusiast seems to.
  20. It makes me sad for the park knowing they're going to get so much bad uninformed press now just because of someones idiocracy.
  21. Awesome pics! Sounds like a fun time. I have one question though: "It is just so calming to watch the sun come up behind the 2nd Best Amusement Park in the World." 2nd? What do you consider to be the 1st?
  22. Quick TR: I visited Knott's for my first time last April and was recently in LA so I stopped by Knott's for a while on July 24th to get my 2 remaining credits I didn't get last time. It was decently packed actually. -I rode Montezooma's first which was a credit I still needed. It was quite fun and the loop and launch were surprisingly forcefull. -I rode Jaguar and Xcelerator as well. Jaguar was nothing special but Xcelerator was amazing just as I remember it. -I waited an hour (yes, an hour) for... Boomerang yes I know, "what are you thinking?!?" well, I needed the credit. It wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting compared to other boomerangs but I found out soon after that they just replaced the trains with new ones. Not *too* bad. -I got a back seat ride on GhostRider which was so fun yet so painful. It's definitely the roughest wooden coaster I've ever been on but at least it has a fun layout to make up for it. I'm surprised that so much GP loves this ride. It had an hour long line. -I rode Pony Express as well and it's a fun little family coaster. It's a great unique concept which would be really fun to see as a coaster longer than 20 seconds. -I was considering doing Voyage but it had a huge line and honestly didn't look like anything special from the POV -I finished the night off with a front row ride on Silver Bullet and I can't get over how much I love this ride. I don't understand all the hate it gets. It's my second favorite B&M invert, right behind Banshee. (even above Montu!) I just love how smooth it is and how the elements flow together perfectly. I love this pic I took
  23. I never wrote a trip report but I visited the park on July 17 (Friday) and I have some comments: I arrived at 5 and left at 7 and the dry side was empty, it made me kind of sad to see that there was nobody there I did a ride on Shivering Timbers which I missed so dearly since being over a year since I last got to ride it. It was running better than ever. The helix retracking is amazing. Unfortunately it closed right after this and was down the rest of the time I was there I took a 1 ride on almost everything else with all walk ons. Thunderhawk is running worse and worse each time I ride it. The waterpark was packed of course but I didn't go in there at all. Although I noticed they painted the old speed slides yellow and orange. Why are they growing pumpkins near the train station??? Cedar Point and now here? What's going on Cedar Fair?!? All the employees were slow and unenthusiastic. All the rides were understaffed as well. I think the first place this park needs to start is entertainment. It is the only Cedar Fair park with no live entertainment and I feel like it could really use it. It's sad to return here and see that the only thing that has changed is that it's gotten more depressing. No crowds, half empty trains, unenthusiastic employees. There's no energy and it's sad to see that at a place that is supposed to be full of energy. Where as with a place like Cedar Point where the employees are hyper 24/7, singing songs, and the constant "Welcome back riders!!!!!" and the train screams in response... Maybe someday
  24. Luckily I get/got to ride a ton of my bucket list coasters this year, although I still have some huge must rides on my list: 1. El Toro (The airtime looks so relentless and amazing) 2. Dodonpa (That launch looks unnatural) 3. Fluch von Novgorod (Indoor, launch, vertical lift... say no more!) 4. Shock- Rainbow Magicland (So unique and fun looking!) 5. Bizarro- SFNE (Looks like Millennium with more airtime!)
