I just want to take a moment to admire the first drop on Valravn. It just towers over that entire area of the park. Not only is this coaster going to look amazing, it's also going to ride amazing. I can't wait to check it out this summer.

I'm just guessing but I think it was probably something that they could do to stay ahead of schedule while they were waiting for the large crane to be shipped to the park I was thinking the same thing. They needed something to do while waiting on the larger crane to show up, this was something smaller, and closer to the ground that they could handle with the smaller cranes they had at the time.

Don't feel bad. I still don't understand the flying saucer concept... Even after I watched the video. Aside from the more "open" feel it has to it... To me it just looks like a tight turn on a water slide, with a lot of wasted fiberglass.

I agree with you. I hardly consider the spike on Tower of Terror, or Superman ... or any Reverse Free Fall Coaster a "drop." ---------------- The point is... Valravn's vertical drop is one of the the largest vertical drops out there... and there is no doubt that it's going to deliver a great ride experience.

Okay... Now I am officially interested.

So glad to see this finally topped off. I still LOVE the colors of this coaster.

"Curve" ... "Bend" ... Same thing to me. But yes, I was referring to the track after the holding brake that has the slight curve in it. Not th holding brake it's self. Don't worry... I got a kick out of watching the crew basket and the track go up at the same time. Indeed! And it has a nice long vertical section. I agree. The vertical section incredibly long on the webcam... I can't imagine how big it's going to look in person! The best part about the views is that the train travels so slowly around the turn at the top that there is going to be plenty of time to take in the views! It's going to by far have one of the best views of any coaster!

New piece in place!!! That. Drop. Is. Massive.

More vertical track in place!! That's the last fully vertical piece of track for the drop. The next piece is the has the curve in it!

^ I'm guessing a combination of all the smaller cranes will hold the support in place while the large red crane lifts track in place! (But I could be wrong)

Keeping you all in the loop! The support is fully in place, and hopefully after lunch we can expect to see track going in place!! This support looks so massive, it really puts into prospective the scale of this project.

For you all who may have missed it, half of the final support for the drop has been lifted into place!

I completely agree. It still baffles me that someone actually COMPLAINED about construction updates and photos being posted! I mean, really?! I know I post a LOT of screen shots of the construction... and I am glad that you all are enjoying the photos! I am really enjoying following the construction, and I'm glad to know you all are too!! (Also, I still can't believe that people complained about construction updates either!) Same! It was really unique, and it took me a second to find Valravn! The photo was taken at just the right angle to make Valravn (at this point in construction) not as OBVIOUS as it might be from other angles.

Personally not me! Been there, done that, got the credits... and I have no desire to ever return to that park. . . But that's just me.
