^ lol it goes with this Holiblog http://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/oops-wrong-nest -
Since it's using polyurethane wheels, I don't think it's going to ride any different than any of the I-Box rides RMC has produced so far. More than likely, it's going to probably feel like you're riding a Intamin woodie. If you've ridden Outlaw Run (which uses steel wheels), you'll be able to tell the difference when you ride this coaster. Outlaw Run, rides smooth, but with an out of control feel. Goliath, will ride smooth, but will feel more controlled, like a steel coaster. The only real advantage topper track gives is that it becomes a wooden coaster when the park uses it. RMC has said that they can do the same elements with both tracks.

^ Topper track is basically a normal stack of wood that you would find on any other wooden coaster, except the top two layers (which are the running boards), are a steal beam. This steal beam is pumped full of a non-crack concrete grout, which basically ensures the track will not lose it's form or deteriorate over time like a traditional tracked wooden coaster. I believe topper track has been around for about 3-4 years now, and there is no evidence that the track has deteriorated on the coasters it's been installed on. The RMC trains are a another big component to this ride as well. They utilize a suspension system that keeps the wheels in contact with the running rails at all times, which allows for precise tracking. This keeps the train from bouncing around the track, like most standard wooden coaster trains do. On most normal wooden coasters, the train bouncing around the track is what causes the track to deteriorate. RMC's whole goal is to create rides that ride like they do on opening day, twenty years from now. With all this technology, I say it's very unlikely that this coaster will become rough, but only time will tell.

They can make major expansions to both parks at the same time. The year they added the Thanksgiving section, they also added a new lazy river. Considering they lost capacity by losing the Congo River this year, I wouldn't be surprised if they added another lazy river and made a major addition to the dry park at the same time. -
OMG Boss with an inversion right before the drop would be freaking awesome. That HAS to happen if it ever gets the Iron Horse treatment. I'm not quite sure how that would work on The Boss. Medusa had a swooping drop, like The Legend at Holiday World and I think that probably played into the decision to put the barrel roll on the drop. Don't get me wrong, if they can add it to The Boss, then I hope they do it!

Now that the Six Flags announcements are out of the way, I think it's time for Holiday World to release their announcement date! -
I've been interested to see what RMC would do with one of these CCI coasters for some time and this exceeded my expectations by a long shot. To be quite honest, I kind of want to ride this more than the new coaster at Six Flags Great America, but I'm sure both are going to be great. 2014 looks like it's going to be a hell of a year!

^ A Tuesday seems likely, so does anyday in the middle of the week. In true Holiday World fashion, I expect them to do a midnight release again this year. That should give me a good excuse to skip my morning class. -

I rode it for the first time 2 weeks ago and loved it. The two people I was with ranked it above El Toro (I'm not willing to do that). It almost seems like it depends on the day you're there. I hate rough rides, and didn't consider it rough at all. It's been a moist cool summer in this part of the country, so The Voyage has probably been running better than is should be right now. Most summers in this area are unbelievably hot and dry, and that isn't very good for wooden coasters. I couldn't agree more with what you said. It has been better than past year's by a long shot. I'll also agree with you about the last 1/4 of the ride being a little rough too. The re-tracked sections have helped. I think the triple-down, and the quick transition to left where the track crosses over the break-run could you some re-tracking next year. -

I think the only professionals who would give their opinion on this matter would be RMC and that's only if they get to put topper track on a steel structured woodie. They shouldn't be, but when it comes down to it, their relationship has been good for both groups So I don't think they're going to come out and criticize each other. It's still top 3 in both Amusement Today and Mitch Hawker... Plus, The Voyage is only crap in July and August. It really depends when you visit. You'll get some great rides on The Voyage in May or June, but not in July or August. If you haven't ridden Mammoth, it is definitely worth the trip! It hasn't went down hill since 2010. The Voyage in 2010 and The Voyage in 2013 is night and day for me. All the work the park has put into The Voyage has really paid off the last couple years. -

^ I know what your saying. The only place where I've ever seen The Voyage's structure really 'give', would be the two bridged sections that cross over the tracks by the station and I'm assuming that's because they're bridged. -

^^ You make a great point. I think there is enough evidence to back up topper track now too. I'm curious to see if the park would just fix the problem areas or if they would do a whole remodel (not a Texas Giant remodel, just replace all the existing track). ^ I think TGG would be against it because the park is turning to their competition to fix The Voyage. -

High humidity probably doesn't help. But it's strange to hear the trains were barely making into the brakes... that's like very slow for Voyage. I've rode The Voyage every year since it opened. Has is slowed down any? A little, but not enough to where it barely makes it into the break run. I was there in May and the end of June, I can tell you without a doubt that the train hitting the break-run like it could go another 500 feet or so. Four years ago RMC wasn't a player in the industry, and they had their existing relationship with Gravity Group.... After the 2011 season, there were some rumors that the park was looking into topper track for the Voyage. I'm pretty sure that was something somebody made up, but if it was true, I was just saying I have no idea why they decided against it. I wouldn't be surprised if they did look into it, considering they rebuilt part of the turn-around in the spaghetti bowl after 2011. -

If they used RMC trains, the suspension system the trains uses would absorb most of the shock/forces the ride gives. If the ride uses topper track with RMC trains, i bet it will ride more like a steel coaster. I have no idea why they decided against topper track. See the suspension system? That part of the suspension keeps the side wheels in contact with the sides at all times. There is another suspension system you can't see that is attached to the running wheel that absorbs all vertical forces. -

^ I'd be afraid to find out what would happen if The Voyage had buzz-bars. I'd want to wear a parachute going over the first hill. That way, if I fly out, I'll have a slim chance at surviving the fall. I think The Raven had buzz-bars when it first opened. -

I don't mind slamming into people on The Voyage, it's The Legend where that really bothers me. I always come away with a few battle scars after riding The Legend. As for new trains on The Voyage, the only way I want RMC's trains on The Voyage is if it gets a full topper track re-profit. Those trains use a suspension system to keep the wheels in contact with the track at all times. I don't know about anybody else, but I really don't like the prospect of hitting multiple pot-holes with those trains. Much like Hades 360, I think the trains would make the ride worse. -
^ I've heard that you get exclusive ride time in the morning before the park opens and at night when the park closes. I think you also get some type of photo walk-back/behind the scenes tour on one of the rides. From what I've heard, the park is not crowded because I think that's the first weekend the waterpark is closed. That's just what I've been told, so you might want to call the park and get all the details before you decide to go. As for the event itself being crowded, I've got no idea about how many people will be attending it.

^ I think those two spots you mentioned are always going to be problem areas on The Voyage. When you have a train that slams into those turns with that much weight, unless it's topper track, it's going to get tore to shreds. Glad to see you enjoyed the event. Holiday World has always known how to put on a show, so it's no surprise that it was no different with this event. I think they're going to have a hard time topping Switchfoot next year, but knowing HW, they'll find a way. -
^ If I remember reading correctly, the Gerstlauer trains were designed by RMC, but built by Gerstlauer (please correct me if I'm wrong). Don't get me wrong, I bet RMC's trains are safe, but if I were in Six Flags shoes, I would go with the proven trains, given everything they're going through with Texas Giant. Do I really want them to go with Gerstlauer trains? No, because I don't want to see seat belts on a ride that doesn't need them.
