  1. Orgeron was the head coach at Ole Miss for awhile, unfortunately the most known thing he probably did was land Michael Oher and get an appearance in the move "The Blind Side." He's a great recruiter, so he might be able hold what's left of this upcoming class together. As for the next head coach, USC can get anyone they want, but who would want the job? It would probably be appealing if the sanctions were not there. My personal opinion, USC needs a coach like Penn State's Bill O'Brien. Somebody who is going to stick with the program through thick and thin, and has a great idea of what he's doing. Going with somebody who used to be a NFL coach, with no college experience seems like the logical choice, but does USC want to follow the same steps has UCLA? Should be interesting to find out!
  2. I was also at the park on the first day of Fright Fest. I didn't get to do any of the extra attractions, because I was on a tight budget. Basically, me and my friends were there just to ride the rides, so I'll just leave you guys with some thoughts. 1. American Thunder was running absolutely amazing. It's REALLY re-rideable, and a has few good pops of airtime. Today was one of the first times I got to put some significant laps on it and it's easily one of my favorites rides there. 2 The Boss and RMC sometime soon? The Boss wasn't running that bad, but I'm pretty sure the helix and a few other spots wanted to kill me. 3. Props to the ride-crew on Batman. They were able to help my friend, who is a little on the heavy side, get his restraint locked in so he could ride. He wasn't able to ride Mr. Freeze for that very reason and was worried that he wouldn't be able to get on some of the other rides like Batman. 4. Other than corporate advertising and pricing, you would never notice this is a corporate ran park. I walk into the park and see the Park President sweeping, and talking to guest. Almost every employee I encountered was very friendly! I had a great time and my experience today has me considering making multiple visits next year while I'm in the St. Louis area!
  3. ^ http://www.kmov.com/news/local/Crews-battle-fire-at-Six-Flags-in-Eureka-225003402.html Doesn't look like it was to serious.
  4. ^ I've not ridden a floorless yet, but I've ridden a stand-up and I didn't enjoy my experience on it.
  5. ^I'll be attending the Halloween event for the first time in a few weeks also. I'm expecting a very light crowd and a great family atmosphere. I'm not expecting anything scary whatsoever.
  6. If any of you were wondering what this years corn maze looks like....here it is!
  7. ^&^^ I'm not sure if it would open it up for a new flat. The coaster is still going to have to come down that same path and make turn to bring it into the break run with the helix or without the helix. It's not my urge to get a used B&M. Just like most of us being realistic about getting only a RMC through a Boss Rehab, my posts were based solely on the fact that a used B&M was probably the only way SFStL would see any kind of B&M.
  8. Well I don't know about you, but I rather have a hand-me-down B&M, rather than some 25 year old hand-me-down Vekoma headbanger. To be quite honest, this is probably the only way SFStL would ever get another B&M.
  9. Thank you for the answer! Looks like I'll be visiting before mid-October.
  10. Thanks for correcting me. I knew the school paid Will Lyles, for some reason I thought he gave the players money to go to Oregon. I think these players should get enough to cover food, gas money and maybe a little bit of spending money. I don't think they should get paid like the pros, but I think individual players like Johnny Manizel, DeAnthony Thomas, and ext. should be able to get a portion of the profit that is made off of merchandise that bears their name, number and ext. The NCAA does not benefit from individual athletes? This is where I think student-athletes should be allowed to benefit money wise. All of these images were exposed by Jay Bilas of ESPN. If you have a twitter, I suggest following him, he's quite entertaining. After Bilas exposed them, the NCAA disabled the search bar, so if you go to type any of these players names, they won't show up. My personal favorite is the Paterno one. Selling a shirt that advertises a record, that you say doesn't exist? I will part with these images.
  11. ^ That's what the NCAA is afraid of.
  12. Every time I visit Holiday World, I can't get through the day without hearing this; (In a redneck voice) "I wanna go ride The Voyager!"
  13. ^I really don't have a problem with it. These schools make MILLIONS off these student-athletes and all the student-athletes get is a scholarship.
  14. Doesn't Great Adventure have a few they could afford to lose? Bizzaro, and Green Lantern (even though I don't want a stand-up) immediately come to mind. How about Nitro? In a park with a 400 foot+ coaster, I bet it gets overshadowed. It would definitely get way more love in Six Flags St. Louis.
  15. RavenMaven/Paula, I'm planning on visiting the park in October, during Happy Halloween Weekends. I know the park closed The Legend early for off-season track work last year. Is the park planning on doing the same thing to any of the three coasters this year? Just curious.
  16. ^ Ohh I believe that there is money given to players. I truly believe that there isn't a clean program, it's just most programs do a better job at hiding it than others. The NCAA won't investigate programs, unless they're given a reason to investigate. It's kinda like driving a car without a license. The cops won't know you don't have a license, unless you give them a reason to know. Oregon's violations came from a scouting service (that the school hired), giving one of their recruits improper benefits. So there was technically no money exchanged from school/booster to student.
  17. ^ Yes I do, I was just trying to point out the very same you just said. Oregon gets more uniforms options, because the owner of Nike is an alum and also a booster. I just thought it was worth noting that the athletic programs at the University of Oregon and Oklahoma St. would be no where near as good as they are, without the monetary contributions that their respected boosters have made to the school. Of course, we now know that Oklahoma St. may have benefited from improper benefits, but we'll just have to see where that investigation goes.
  18. Phil Knight gives millions of dollars to the University of Oregon every year. Same case at Oklahoma St. T. Boone Pickens has given millions of dollars to their program. They even named their stadium after him. As long as none of the money is given to the players, boosters can give all the money they want to their respected school in any program.
  19. lol Their leading booster is the owner of Nike. Phil Knight is an alum.
  20. ^ I personally think Six Flags Corporate could find one of the many parking lot B&M's to give to SFStL.
  21. Didn't he do the same thing with Mike Bellotti? While they've not won any big games, I think the fact they they're competitive is whats most impressive. It is probably very hard for him get a competitive advantage in recruiting on the other SEC schools with the academics, lack of facilities, and probably the lack of money the program gets. It wouldn't surprise me if he knew about the rape allegations, he probably covered it up, because he needed the players to have a chance to win. So true. He's to ignorant to give up his play calling duties. He was probably a great play caller when he was a OC, because he had to answer to the head coach. Now that he is in charge, he answers to nobody on his staff, so he does whatever he wants. Hopefully he will be answering to Pat Hayden very soon.
  22. I don't care what the park gets. As long as it's no 20+ year old Vekoma or Arrow headbanger.
  23. ^ I don't put to much stock into the 1st week of the season. The fact that they ran 77 plays in a NFL game, is absolutely ridiculous. Most teams get better over the course of the season and if they can run more than 77 plays, I feel sorry for the all the defenses that have to face the Eagles. Chip might have a better shot at winning a championship in the NFL. When he was at Oregon, teams had 6 weeks to condition and gameplan for his offense, before the bowl game was played. Now, teams will only have a maximum of two weeks to prepare in the Playoffs. They might be able to gameplan, but I don't think there is no way you can condition yourself for that type of pace. Of course, if he comes back to college, he'll come back to the long needed college football playoff, which would definitely help his chances of winning a championship at the college level.
  24. Well if they weren't so busy reporting allegations against Johnny Manizel, which only got him suspended for 2 quarters. Maybe they actually would have talked about the situation. I don't think Chip will be back to college after the way the Eagles played tonight. But then again, we all thought Saban was going to be a great NFL coach after his first season in the NFL. I really would like to see USC go with a coach who has a high-tempo offense. If they don't, I think UCLA is going to steal all the top flight recruits, which they're currently doing right now.
  25. Coming from somebody who is a USC fan, I couldn't agree more. If you're going to let Kiffin finish out the season, at least strip him of his play calling duties. His offense has never had a really good flow and never puts together consistent drives. I'm hoping this Chip Kelly NFL experiment doesn't workout and USC pulls a Alabama and hires their rival's former coach. As for Texas, they have all the money in the world, top recruits, top facilities, and ext. There is no excuse for them being this mediocre since Colt McCoy left. I think it's time to bring in a new face, it would probably help revitalize the program. I personally would like to see them hire James Franklin from Vandy. He seems like the type of guy who could handle the pressure of being the coach at Texas, plus he's one hell of a coach.
