  1. I would say that my favorite comments were Jeff Pike's Son of Beat comment and Chad Miller's building a coaster on the moon. I think that I prefer this format of questioning over the previous format. I feel like it flowed a lot better and got straight to the point, plus I liked the additional random questions about Hard Rock and what each company thinks is big in the industry right now. It's interesting to get their perspective on these things.
  2. The Gravity Group just posted this on Twitter saying this.. "Here is the first wall of the new TGG booth. Do you spy something green as well?" Maybe another announcement? Edit : They've posted another teaser here's the link if anybody is interested. https://twitter.com/thegravitygroup/status/403010078573219841/photo/1
  3. From what I've read, quite a few people said it was one of the worst coasters they've ever rode due to the roughness.
  4. I wonder if these M&V/TGG woodies are going to use PTC's or Timberliners?
  5. They were supposed to re-track 90% of the ride last year. After hearing all the reports about how rough it was, I couldn't help but think that there was no way they re-tracked 90% of the ride. Now I'm wondering if the they ran out of time to get it all re-tracked before the season started and decided to finish it after this season was over. If you remember, they didn't finish the new section until about 2 weeks before the park opened up and reports from the opening weekend said that the project seemed to have been rushed to get it opened on time.
  6. Looking at the bowl projections, even if Auburn loses to Bama, they still have the upper hand in getting to the Sugar Bowl over A&M. Bama would have to beat the SEC East champion for this happen though. I have serious doubts that Missouri will win out playing Ole Miss and A&M. So it looks like Bama will be playing South Carolina in Atlanta.
  7. They can make a rides drop bigger by digging a trench like Goliath at Great America or using the elevation differences in the land like Outlaw Run. So there are ways to somewhat get around the height limit when it comes to roller coasters.
  8. What bothers me is The Boss still has the potential to be that "it" ride through a RMC overhaul. The park doesn't even have to expand to add a signature attraction, the structure is right there and the ride already has a really good layout. It's an opportunity for Corporate to make The Boss the ride it was indented to be and also maybe give them an opportunity to re-theme the ride. The Boss, doesn't go with the themed section. How about The King? That's probably a totally different conversation, but I thought I just throw that out there. Anyways, it probably just makes to much sense for it to happen.
  9. ^ We'll see. Knowing HW, they've probably been doing their due diligence on what type of steel coaster best fits the park. I still think it's going to be something similar to Cheetah Hunt at Busch Gardens, or Blue Fire at Europa Park. I suspect it will either be 2015 or 2016, but only time will tell.
  10. ^All of the "free" stuff HW gives out is factored into general admission and season pass pricing. It shows up a bit more in the season pass pricing than the general admission pricing.
  11. ^ You make a good point. Those rides are unique in a way. It's just when I last visited the park, I couldn't stop thinking how this park lacked a signature attraction that they could call their own. Is it going come from the flat ride variety? Probably not. As you pointed out, this is not Disney. I would just like to see corporate actually pay a roller coaster design firm to design a ride just for Six Flags St Louis. The park deserves one, but that doesn't mean corporate will give them one and I realize that. I guess this is just wishful thinking on my part.
  12. None of this diminishes my enjoyment of the rides at SFStL. I just think the park deserves an attraction that's not a clone or a hand-me-down, but something that was designed for the park and there is nothing else in the world like it. I wasn't talking about the coasters when I made that statement. I was talking about the rest of the rides. There is nothing special about them, they're standard rides in my opinion.
  13. ^ I'll Agree with you on that. I actually think this was one of the better college football weekends I've watched in quite sometime. USC beating Stanford was the icing on the cake!
  14. It's not as if the park as any rides that were specifically designed for them though. Batman clone, American Thunder is a clone of GCI's Thunderbird over in Finland, Mr. Freeze has a copy at Six Flags over Texas, and there are Pandemonium's at multiple Six Flags parks. If we want to be technical, the only roller coasters designed for the park are Screamin' Eagle, The Boss and The River King Mine Train. All of the other rides are standard Amusement Park rides that can be found at many other parks. There is no ride that is unique or special that makes Six Flags St. Louis standout.
  15. ^ If you visit in May or early June, then there really is no need to make it a two day trip. I've found that the weekdays in May are truly the best time to visit. Apart from one train operation on all the coasters and the majority of the crowd being school kids, everything is a virtual walk-on, except for the Voyage. The worst I've seen that get was a 10 min wait after everyone filed out of the waterpark.
  16. ^ If he loses his job over those two games, that would be a shame. They were couple plays away from the series going the other way with the Dodgers up 2-0. As a Cardinals fan, I'm happy that they got those first two games, but I realize that they could of easily lost both of those games. On a side note, I've been really happy with how the Cardinals young pitchers have performed in this post-season so far. I'm looking forward to watching Waino take the ball tomorrow in game 3!
  17. I've been going to Holiday World for 15 years and as far as I can tell from my two visits this year, nothing has really changed. The only thing that I really noticed was no Mrs. Koch, but I expected that. The other thing I noticed this year is that the park itself, seems to be doing a lot more ticket giveaways/contests, than in previous years. They're really taking advantage of opportunities presented through social media to giveaway tickets in some type of contest. That's good to hear. I saw the new President, Matt Eckert, when I visited earlier in the year, walking around the Park like Will Koch used to do. I never saw Lori, but I've only visited twice so far. Maybe I'll see her when I visit next Saturday.
  18. Six Flags has a history of putting topper track on coasters (Rattler&Medusa) before they do the full remodel. It's a strong layout, but it could get stronger.
  19. ^ The layout has the potential to be great. My hope came from seeing what RMC is doing to Medusa at Six Flags Mexico. While The Boss and Medusa may not have similar layouts, they both have similar elements and what RMC is doing to Medusa looks to be as good as New Texas Giant and Iron Rattler.
  20. ^ I was going to say the same thing. Things can always change, so I'm not going to lose complete hope yet.
  21. I rode it on Saturday and it was actually really fun!
  22. In case anybody was wondering, it looks like Lori Koch will have controlling interest of the park for the unseeable future. http://www.indystar.com/article/20131003/BUSINESS/310030044/Appeals-Court-sides-widow-rather-than-brother-law-Holiday-World-dispute?gcheck=1&nclick_check=1 Hopefully this is the end of this drama and we won't have to talk about it anymore.
  23. ^ Yeah I though about that, I just wasn't sure if USC wanted to go down that same path again. You know the folks over at UCLA would probably say they're copying them, even though they really copied USC's model. I've read that Clemson's offensive coordinator Chad Morris,Washington's head coach Steve Sarkisian, and St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher could be other candidates. Wasn't Steve Mariucci, and Herm Edwards candidates at some point before Kiffin was hired? I wouldn't swear to it though. Kevin Sumlin would be a interesting choice. Short term doesn't make sense, but long term might workout. USC would have to stick with him through these scholarship limitations, because it's only going to get worse, before it ever gets better and that goes with any coach they hire.
